We walked to Haru after a show. Service was friendly and accommodating (no hesitation when I asked for gluten free soy sauce). The fish was quality. Pricing was okay, reasonable for the area I think. We'd come here again.

We ate at the bar. My friend got there before me and ordered three appetizers...edamame, chicken satay (loved the dipping sauce!), and panko shrimp. All three were excellent. He then got a sushi platter, and I had a shrimp tempura roll. We enjoyed them both a lot. We also ordered vegetable tempura. I didn't love it. We had a piece... More

Haru Sushi is one of the best sushi places I have tried. My friends and I came to New York from Maryland for a weekend get away. On Sunday as we were leaving, we had extra time and decided to stop for brunch. We Googled "Sushi places Times Square" and this was the first to come up so we made... More

My mom used to live on the Upper West Side and I would always visit Haru Sushi on Amsterdam. Food was good, when you could get in. But there were also a few options that disappointed. I couldn't remember which were which, so I ordered my preferences and...some were excellent (Black Cod Miso) and some were misses (beef appetizers). Overall... More

Great find for sushi however not for after the theater. We got there at 10:00pm and had to hurry to order because the kitchen does last call roughly at 10:30pm. So, it reasonable pricing for NYC. Good food and nice servers.

Good service, but that was it. very average sushi for their sushi lunch specials. There are several other places (like Inakaya) which have better sushi in the Times Square area. Perhaps we went on an off day for these guys, because I see many 4 star reviews. But not worth repeating in my opinion.

As we searched for a place to eat before the theater, the enticing aroma outside compelled us to check the posted menu. The choices and prices led us in and we were immediately seated with a window, restaurant and bar view. The upscale customers and soft jazz music made us comfortable. Service, food and prices were excellent. Highly recommended.

We happened on this restaurant and though very busy were able to get a seating for lunch. Excellent service, sushi and salmon. We returned for dinner one day later and it was quieter and we found the service and food consistently high quality and staff were attentive. Well done to Haru and the welcoming, smiling staff at the reception desk.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
