It never disappoints you

As for the location, nothing is spectacular here. It is a lovely place, near the theater district. I believe it is very nice for a quick dinner. The food makes up for everything. We went there twice.Everyone's entrees were perfectly prepared, and I really enjoyed it as a whole. I ordered a steak... read more

My second favourite restaurant in NYC.... and I really highly recommend everyone to go there. Its located in a convenient place so why not? The food is fantastic, the service was the best service I had in New York & atmosphere and setting perfect. The location of the restaurant was highly convenient as its really in the centre of NYC... It is always nice to return to Joe Allen's. Service is very friendly and fast. Food feels homey and is very fresh. Guests usually chatter excited about a show they have just seen.

Restaurant hopping near the Broadway Theaters helped us find a number of super fine dining choices all near each other. Bistecca Fiorentina first brought us to the 300 block of West 46th. Bistecca than led us to Swing 46, which then led us to Joe Allen's, a white linen steak house in its 50th year. And we had a terrific... More

As usual, uncomplicated, understated, and great food, more frequented with Covent Garden restaurant but wanted somewhere today in a cold and wet New York that would not disappoint.

Joe Allen is a neat old Theatre District landmark. Stop in, have a drink, but go elsewhere for food. My burger was overcooked and tasteless. The role was burnt. Fries were limp. Maybe I chose the wrong menu item? Staff was lovely and service friendly.

Reasonably priced, great non-fussy food and good, interesting beer (along with other stuff to drink)...what's not to like? Oh, and the wait staff are attentive and helpful, no matter how crazy busy they are. Interesting, eclectic clientele. It's our "go to" place before or after theater. Have never been disappointed!

I love this restaurant. We went there on a Sunday night after seeing Allegiance. Love the ambience, the decor, the friendly servers and especially my favorite Lobster Roll with homemade chips and a delicious desert. Can't say enough about how much I love this place. I will return anytime I am in NYC!

This was where we went on the last night and it was perfect. We went after going to the theatre and the setting and atmosphere could not have been beaten. The food was excellent and reasonable value, and there were a great selection of drinks. Would highly recommend, especially if you are seeing a show beforehand.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
