Food was excellent, but the owner and server were more worried about everyone else. Owner was yelling all around at employees. Plates were cleared and I had to ask for check 3 times.

It's a tipical italian restaurant in little italy, the food is great, but I did not love because of the service. It was very clear to us that the waiter was not very happy with our presence in there, dont know if we are not the exact kind of client that they expect - two young brazilian studants that are... I know, I know, anyone who picks a random Italian restaurant on Mulberry Street in Little Italy is asking for disappointment, but we were intent on getting to the newly opened museum down the street. Great bufalo mozzarella was paired with tasteless tomato slices and an aged basil leaf. Come on guys, with all the great produce in NYC, you... More

Thought that we'd go and try an Italian meal in Little Italy, as you do when you're a tourist. Happened upon Lunella which appeared to be a safe bet - menu was good and food reasonably priced. However..........the service was terrible. We were met by a surly man who didn't seem to understand the meaning of customer service, and was... More

It took serval minutes for the waiter to give us the menu card. When we got the appetizer bread, the waiter forgot oil. The food was fine though. When we requested the check, we got a handwritten paper with almost unreadable numbers. A bit frivolous.

Lunella lived up to my expectations. Little Italy needs to keep these family-owned restaurants and not let them be pushed aside. We were disappointed by the look of Mulberry Street, which used to have lots of little shops selling something more than tees and trinkets made in China. But Lunella did not disappoint. We all asked for something a little... More

The nasty owner started taking things off tables people were not done with. Then burned baked clams then rigatoni alla vodka had salmon in the sauce. The only reason for 2 stars is the manicotti was good.

My husband and I stopped in for lunch, and we were both pleased with our meals. The restaurant was clean, and it also has clean restrooms. The servers were efficient and friendly.

There are so many places to choose from in Little Italy and we were very happy that we ended up at Lunella's. I was lead to believe that it was one of the few restaurants in that area that is still family owned. The owner was in the house and speaking to all of the diners. Our meal was wonderful... More

Staying in Little Italy

Neighborhood Profile
Little Italy
While Little Italy is one of the city's smallest neighbourhoods, its streets are packed with visitors from around the globe, especially on summer weekends when the streets are closed to traffic. Stroll up Mulberry Street, the heart of Little Italy, for a dense mix of Italian restaurants with sidewalk tables, cafes, and old-school food shops. Don’t be surprised when the hosts beckon you to pay them a visit. Stop in for a coffee and a cannoli, or grab a streetside table to take in the scenery over a hearty Italian meal.
