We were walking around the little Italy area on Mulberry Street looking for a place to eat and we chose this restaurant at random and it turned out well. The food was very traditional New York Italian and everything was ordered was quite good. All in all a very good Italian restaurant in little Italy.

So we were told that one of the Must Do Things in New York was eat at Little Italy. So we did, after deciding where to eat the restaurant we had chosen first only received reservations. So we walked again and again and saw different menus and we ended up in Lunella Ristorante. There is so much to choose from.... More

Look, its difficult to go wrong on Mulberry Street. Lunella is solid Italian at a good price, right in the middle of Mulberry Street. The interior is spacious for NY and you do not feel cramped in the slightest. It may be a bit sparse, but that should be expected for this price range. The restaurant was clean. Date/time of... The Carbonara was to die for. The Spaghetti Pomodoro Basilica was excellent as was the ziti and the chicken Parmesan. The special of the night Cannelloni Gratinati was so good we will be back. They accommodated our group of five at 7:30 PM on a Friday night without a reservation, no problem at all, after just a short wait. The... More

This is our "go-to" in Little Italy, and food is still good, but overcrowded at lunch led to long wait. People arriving later got food before us. Main course veal was not hot. 18% service was added to the bill - just two of us - although stated for parties of six or more. We will probably try somewhere else... More

As usually in Italian restaurants, the friendliest person working there was the guy at the door who lured us in. Otherwise the service was just terrible, as it almost always is in Italian restaurants, according to my experience. The waiters don't come to you unless you specifically catch their attention, and without asking bill your whole group as one. No... More

We ate lunch at the restaurant and we ordered soup and pasta carbonara. I ate a lot of pasta carbonara including in Italy and it really was not pasta carbonara. The dish is very mediocre and the service was slow. As one that really likes Italian restaurants, there was not anything special.

We had lunch at the wonderful restaurant in Little Italy. This was our second visit to Lunella's. It was every good as I remembered. I had the Lasagna and it was superb. The service was good and the prices are moderate for New York. I would like to try this restaurant for dinner.

This place was intimate, good food, attentive service and good sidewalk views. Loved it and would go back. I think I will always rather go to an Italian restaurant that says "no pizza". Let's you know they are a bit more serious about food.

Bruschetta was very good! Veal was delicious and cooked well, service was very courteous and quick considering it was the first weekend of the San Gennaro feast. Will be back again!

Staying in Little Italy

Neighborhood Profile
Little Italy
While Little Italy is one of the city's smallest neighbourhoods, its streets are packed with visitors from around the globe, especially on summer weekends when the streets are closed to traffic. Stroll up Mulberry Street, the heart of Little Italy, for a dense mix of Italian restaurants with sidewalk tables, cafes, and old-school food shops. Don’t be surprised when the hosts beckon you to pay them a visit. Stop in for a coffee and a cannoli, or grab a streetside table to take in the scenery over a hearty Italian meal.
