My husband and I wanted to grab a drink and some food before our show. After finding a hostess upstairs and waiting for her to finish her conversation with another employee, I asked if we were allowed to eat at the bar. The hostess said the bar is closed and proceeded to ask the people behind us if they wanted... More

We are staying on W 49th St and walked past the Playwright a few times before venturing in for dinner. Even on a Thursday night the place was packed and we waited five minutes for a table. Super friendly maitre d looked after us and our server was also efficient and sweet. We had potato skins to start then a... More

Tonight on a snowy Times Square night we enjoyed dinner at Playwright Tavern. Our hostess Laura who I found out was also the manager did a great job satisfying my wife's want to be overlooking Times Square....Kerri C our server also had an Irish accent to die for 😜 The food portions were large, hot and well priced. My fish... More

Good dinner with friends visiting here for a conference. I had the Corned Beef and Cabbage dinner. It was a very large portion that included booked potatoes. The food was good but not seasoned at all. I've had this dish at many other places and realize it's a bland dish but I had to put lots of pepper & salt... More

We stopped into the Playwright for a quick lunch and we were pleasantly surprised. Alot of guys in the bar area watching soccer/football games but we were able to get seats at the bar and order drinks and food. I had their goat cheese salad and it had to be the best salad I've ever had. We thoroughly enjoyed this... More

The Playwright is an easy walk from Times Square. Reasonably priced, plenty of food, great service and also very busy. I highly recommend this restaurant.

My girlfriend and I visited tonight and when we walked in the hostess ignored us and then took another couple before us. When finally approached we put our names and and were told a 10-15 minute wait when we were told outside there was no wait. We were told to stand over by the bar but with so many people... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
