We visited the restaurant after a long time we didn't visit NYC. They changed the name a little bit (maybe changed owners). In the past this restaurant was our favourite in Chinatown. We went to a lunch. They put us in a round table with a local family. Noodles Won Ton soup-average. Seafood chaw mein-good Chicken cashew nuts- average .... More

Management response:

Thanks for visiting again, Gadi. It's always so good to hear from folks who come back to our place when they're in town. You're right, we've gone through a few name changes, but our aim is still to give our customers food and service that go above and beyond. I'm sorry to hear some of our dishes missed the mark... We have been eating here for years, and the food is still mostly the same. The dumplings and scallion pancakes are always a favorite. Ditto for the sesame noodles.

What a compliment, Chessie! It means so much to hear that you've stuck with us through the years. It's all because of customers like you that we've been a fixture in Chinatown for so long. Here's to many more years of dumplings and scallion cakes. See you next time! Cheers, Eric H., Owner More

Had the ribs special, fried fish, fried rice, and a chicken dish. Tasty like your typical Chinese food, but much better that your neighborhood take out. It seemed their portions are less than other Chinese restaurants I've eaten at. Service is minimal and cash payment is required. No decor and bathroom is only functional.

Restaurant has changed names since we last visited NYC, but seems to be same owners, same yummy recipes and same great service. By far the best pork dumplings and egg drop soup I've found anywhere! Their scallion cakes are also delish! Many years ago when visiting Chinatown in NYC, we wanted to eat in the area but didn't have a... More

After a traditional Dim Sum lunch the day before at Jin Fong, we had a very enjoyable lunch at Green Box. The Soup Pork Buns we're excellent as we're the home made Dumplings. The Rice Cakes with beef were just OK with only a little beef and not enough sauce. What makes this place stand out is their Seaweed Batter... More

I think this is some of the best Dim Sum in China Town. I also like that it is off the beaten track. In terms of ordering I would recommend the pork soup dumplings, fried pork dumplings, pork buns and scalion pancakes.

This has been a Chinatown institution for decades under an assortment of different names. Indeed, our prominent local chefs go here for new dish ideas! Highly recommended. Crowded but.

This restaurant seems to be getting an increasingly bad wrap in recent years. Perhaps this is, at least in part, due to the gap between expectations and reality that has been created by changes in the name over the decade.....new; nice; and now deluxe. Not sure why the owners of this establishment don't embrace a truism, and call it Tasty... More

I have a big problem with NYC Chinatown. Most of the places are tourist traps or just poor and not worth a visit. This one is poor. It is edible but tasteless, uncooked and poor service. They serve free green tea and free wifi is available.

Had a fast lunch, tough lo mein noodles were thicker than usual, they were ok. We also had some steamed pork dumplings, raw, uncooked. I give them an extra encouraging star because as we tasted only two dishes.

Staying in Chinatown

Neighborhood Profile
Bursting with an amazing array of sights, sounds, and smells on every block, a visit to Chinatown feels like entering a different world. It’s a colorful spectacle that gets even more crowded on weekends, when families stream in to enjoy huge dim sum feasts and to stock up at the markets on Mott Street. To take a break from the buzz, grab something sweet from one of the many bakeries in the area and head to Columbus Park, where many Chinatown residents exercise, play games, and chat the day away.
