Popped in on a Tuesday for 2 drinks. When we came to pay it was rung in as $25. I queried it and was rung in a $10 refund without any apology. Watch out for staff here on the make

We wandered into Manitoba’s on a Saturday afternoon having read a bit about the bar. Happy hour 2 for 1 on beers and a couple of bucks of shorts. Got talking so some of the other punters with some great tunes playing in the background.... Only issue was I wanted to pay cash so the female bar tender held my card. When I asked to settle the tab she had run my card and charged the drinks to it. Still enjoyed ourself though.More

Popped in yesterday afternoon for a quick beer, turned out it was 2 for 1, what a deal! Great staff, fantastic jukebox, and we ended up spending 4 hours here. Great patrons, as well, tons of fun.

We looked to get in at 1:30pm - not open yet - so not dive-ish enough - opened at 3pm. So we came back and 2-for-1 happy hour Genesee Cream Ale in cans !!! Oh Yeah - soundtrack was the bartender's phone mix. Plenty of...photos on the walls. Too many bar stools at the bar. Some of the patrons made it feel a bit more of a dive. Enjoyed the visit. If I lived in the area rather than across the country I would stop in regularly.More

If you are a fan of punk and especially the NY scene from late 70's-80's then a trip to Manitoba's is a must. Its as divey as it gets. Im sure Handsome Dick could afford to re-upholster the place but what the hell, then it...wouldnt be the same. Great pics on the wall. My son and his fiance couldnt understand why I was in music heaven. The juke box is amazing though it wasnt working perfectly when we were there. Played air hockey downstairs. My wife even bought me a Handsome Dick bobble headMore

An ordinary dive that sparkles with the addition of punk rock photos on the walls, a juke box loaded with good music (if your value system is aligned with 70s-era punk rock sensibilities), friendly bartenders and 2 for 1 specials at various times.

I visit NYC at least once a year to catch up with old friends who I worked within the 90's. As a veteran of the Punk Wars there's only one place to go and that's to Handsome Dick's place. His band might have bemoaned the...gentrification of Alphabet City but this bar celebrates the way it was before the Range Rovers took over. Good beer, great staff and a welcoming atmosphere.I even got my photo taken with the great man himself! Don't be a mook, go to Manitoba's for a great time.More

I knew of Manitoba's as I'm an appreciator of The Dictators, so I made it a point to have a beer at Richard's joint. I don't really fit into any particular category: not a punk, not a hipster, not a yuppie, not a metalhead; just...a random guy that loves music and rock and roll culture. This place was fantastic. Came in on a hot Thursday night and the AC was blasting. Barkeep (didn't catch his name) was great and good conversationalist. Jukebox stacked with punk, seminal NY bands, 60s British favorites, and of course, The Dictators. Really diverse crowd. Apparently I just missed Richard by a few minutes, ah well. Just make sure you have cash, and be prepared to scan the walls with lots of great rock photos (most by Bob Gruen) and NY punk memorabilia. A most unpretentious place and the bar I felt most comfortable at in all the times I've been to New York. I'll be back for sure.More

Well... I looked forward to my trip around the East Village and a beer in Manitobas and came away wanting more. What a place! Sunday afternoon, we had a couple of beers in Jimmy's No.43 on the way to Manitobas, walked through Tompkins Square Park...which was buzzing and found the it. Welcomed by a truly lovely bar lady who served us a couple of IPAs and a token for a free beer, we put some music on the best juke box and relaxed for an hour. Walking away I was very melancholy but cheered up by the Joe Strummer mural along the way, heaven. New York is missing a trick, they ought to celebrate this era, the area is losing it's 70s history, I guess the ghosts will always be around. Hey ho!More
