This restaurant has been around for a long time, and it shows. The interior is not very fancy, and for those of us who spent a lot of time in "old" asia (colonial-style restaurants like the Madarin in Bangkok), its not really authentic. That said, the food was good but not perfect, and the service very good. It feels like... More

This was my second visit to le Colonial, I don't recall my first. The food was wonderful and full of flavor, and the portions were ample. The service was exceptional as well. We started with a cocktail as we had just arrived in NYC; the bartender was terrific, and he makes a mean cocktail

Nice cozy spot with very good food. We brought two bottles of older vintage bordeaux's and they were very accepting and attentive to decanting and providing excellent bottle service. Highly recommended for anyone that likes Vietnamese food.

Le Colonial is a very cosy restaurant with its colonial interior and friendly staff. They had really nice drinks in the bar. However, you go to a restaurant to eat. We had different starters and the best was the vegetarian spring rolls. The entrees were pork and seafood, all of which were very bland. I must say I've eaten better... More

I ate at this restaurant 15 years ago when I lived in NYC. Back on business and gave it a whirl. Terrific experience - the food was amazing (duck rolls, sea bass, Sriricha chocolate dessert) and our server was attentive, friendly, helpful and quite attractive! Love the decor - French Vietnamese vibe, palms and dark wood shutters. Definitely give this... More

We ordered pho soup, filet mignon, duck spring rolls, bun trio, string beans, bun trio and red snapper with salad. The soup, spring rolls, string beans and salad were very good. The entrees were very good. Reservations recommended. The very dim. The light from your phone will help you read the menu.

This is a place that doesn't do simple comfort food. It's unique dishes based on Vietnamese tradition. You have to be a bit daring to enjoy it. I'm a little less in that category, but I came here for a family gathering. I did find a menu item I liked and it was quite good. The service was excellent. And... More

I have been quite a few times over the years to Le Colonial for business lunches, but that was my first time for dinner. And I was not disappointed. Food is excellent and creative, service is impeccable and attentive. The decor of an old colonial mansion is fairly relaxing. I's a tad expensive, but worth it.

The food which was served to us could have come out of the deep-frozen section of Trader Joe's. The flavors were dull and had none of the explosive combination of Asian spices and ingredients you would expect. I had better Vietnamese food in China Town. My duck was.. a duck served on a kind of coleslaw. I tasted of duck... More

Le Colonial is a truly delightful culinary experience. Like stepping into French Colonial Southeast Asia, this two-story restaurant, designed by Greg Jordan, consists of a main dining room with louvered wall panels, colorful tile floors, and vintage photos of Vietnam. Upstairs is an elegant, but lively, lounge serving a full dinner or just appetizers and cocktails. The lounge serves as an ideal setting for private parties and business dinners. Le Colonial serves an authentic Vietnamese menu with an emphasis on fresh seafood, meats, and vegetables.

Neighborhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
