This place is fantastic. It is quite with an authentic old feel. Its a breath of fresh air from the glossy and loud places in nyc. The food is average but the atmosphere is truly great

I have dined at this fine restaurant many times with family, friends and business associates. Last night I dined with my son, as this is one of his favorite places to eat. As always the food and service was great. I had made a reservation specifying that we wanted to sit in the front room as there are only tables... More

Four of us for dinner. We were seated, and a manager type took our drink order. Fifteen minutes later, no drinks. Our waiter came over, we told him, and he went to get them. Not a big deal, but not a great start either. The food is pretty expensive for what turns out to be pretty small portions. I ordered... More

A well established Asian restaurant with French influences. The food is fresh, tasty and attracts active. The ambiance is conducive to conversation and lingering over each dish. The staff are attentive but not "claustrophobic".

I've been to Le Colonial a few times and the restaurant never disappoints. It's a quiet little gem on the cusp up the middle and upper East Side. The service is top notch and the food is consistently delicious.

Le Colonial is what it sets out to be, a culinary memoir of old Vietnam. However, having been to Vietnam not long ago, there is nothing antique or old-fashioned about this restaurant. Instead, it is a fresh take on great standards. Not having worked through the entire dinner menu, one can only comment on what we had - and it... More

If you are longing for some fresh tates, this is your spot. and the ambience is lovely, like the casbah. My husband and I had a long meal- he choosing the caramel chicken after a bowl of dreamy cocmut milk soup. My started was excellent spring rolls which I'd skip in favor of the soup next time. My Branzino was... More

Really great food and good wine selection too. This place is old school with a diverse menu. The bar upstairs is outstanding if you like tradition. Nothing else like it in the area. Go.

You do indeed feel like you have stepped into another era once you enter the Colonial. The place need a little refreshing (but maybe that's to give it that colonial look?). The up-stairs bar was so original and beautiful. Service was not so great (except the girl behind the bar) because very slow, but that did not take away to... More

Description
Le Colonial is a truly delightful culinary experience. Like stepping into French Colonial Southeast Asia, this two-story restaurant, designed by Greg Jordan, consists of a main dining room with louvered wall panels, colorful tile floors, and vintage photos of Vietnam. Upstairs is an elegant, but lively, lounge serving a full dinner or just appetizers and cocktails. The lounge serves as an ideal setting for private parties and business dinners. Le Colonial serves an authentic Vietnamese menu with an emphasis on fresh seafood, meats, and vegetables.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
