First off, a disclaimer: the line to get a table is LONG. There is always a crowd of people waiting on the ground floor of the building, waiting to get a table and it takes at least 40 minutes (usually more) to get one. However, it is definitely worth the wait! There are numerous amounts of dim sum you can... More

When I get tired of American food, I sometimes try to have Chinese cuisine. This restaurant is one of the most popular with local Chinese people and provides us with good meal on a cheap price. Some staffs peddle dim sum from table to table, so you can sit choosing meals. It's a so convenient system.

This place was recommended to me and it was worth the hype. It is a place for real dim sum and it had all the good stuff-cha shiu bao, ha gao, shu mai--all the standard fare for dim sum. It was all fresh, hot and well done. I would go back again and again.

This was our first time coming here and it was on a Saturday at 12. You get a ticket and wait to get your number called with a bunch of other people. We waited about 25 minutes for two, which wasnt too bad. To get that time though, we had to share our table with another couple. Thank goodness we... More

We came here for dim sum lunch on a Sunday and as the reviews before me had said there was a 40 minute wait, but we came knowing this. Luckily the large lobby area can accommodate many people to wait on a cold day. This restaurant is large with several floors and many tables and the restaurant is tastefully decorated.... More

Being of Hong Kong origin, I have very high standards when it comes to Dim Sum. China Towns can be very commercial so I was lucky to bump into some Americans of Chinese origin in the Subway one day who were on their way to have a dim sum meal. When I asked them for the best restaurant, without hesitation,... More

It is China Town and you come to eat Dim Sum. Therefore don't expect a menu - you chose fresh, piping hot dim sum from the constantly roaming carts. Don't expect overly friendly or chatty service but you WILL get great dim sum at rather reasonable prices.

I ate here on a Thursday for lunch, we arrived at about 1:30 (they serve lunch until 4:00). Things started off good, we quickly got several good dishes (shiu mai, hargow, ho fun,etc.). The problem was, the available dishes never seemed to change much. They just kept coming around with the same selection, without adding anything new. There were some... More

Recommended to us by a local. Hidden away in Chinatown on N upper level but worth the effort to find. Calm, serene, authentic. Gracious servers, not a whole lot of English spoken. Be prepared to eat with chop sticks and be adventurous!

I have sampled Dim Sum all over the world and The Golden Unicorn is my second favorite place ever. My top favorite was in chinatown in Singapore. This place is number two. This is based on nothing but my own subjective take on the quality of food and service but also diversity of options. Sometimes when you go to a... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighborhood Profile
Bursting with an amazing array of sights, sounds, and smells on every block, a visit to Chinatown feels like entering a different world. It’s a colorful spectacle that gets even more crowded on weekends, when families stream in to enjoy huge dim sum feasts and to stock up at the markets on Mott Street. To take a break from the buzz, grab something sweet from one of the many bakeries in the area and head to Columbus Park, where many Chinatown residents exercise, play games, and chat the day away.
