Hotel food…ya no thanks! But wait, it just got real with the Calle Ocho and giving us roadies some hope in Hotel Food once again! Even in New York, yes I ‘stayed in’ and ate just because it is so good! Great restaurant at the Excelsior Hotel in the Upper West side is my choice when staying and eating at... More

This restaurant is divine. The vibe is such a blast, and the service is impeccable. I've eaten here many, many times and I've never had a bad meal. The steak and yuca fries are to die for, the sangria's are delicious, the taco platter comes in little ramekins of chicken meat & various toppings, with fresh tortilla's, and you build... More

My husband and I went for our 12th wedding anniversary. The restaurant is inside a hotel but it is run as its own business. The ambience is romantic with dim lights and the background music was not too loud, the service is excellent and the food is delicious. As soon as we were seated our waiter came and was very... This restaurant was in our hotel, yet a separate business. With a South American flavour i enjoyed a Pisco sour and chicken with Peruvian potatoes, which reminded me of my trip to Peru a few years earlier. Friendly staff, good choice of menu with something for everyone

We always enjoy this place. My wife had a white wine, and I had the Cuban style beer that is brewed in North Carolina. Funny. We shared the date appetizer. This is always a great choice. Wife had the salmon while I had the chicken. Both were well prepared, plated and delicious. Dessert was two cafe con leche, we shared... More

We found Calle Ocho on our way to Shakespeare in the Park. We went in and ordered a lot of food from the appetizer section of the menu. We then took everything to Central Park and had a picnic dinner before the play. The food is delicious Latin/Spanish/Cuban. We have done this little routine every time we go to Shakespeare... More

This was a very fine dinner of wonderful combinations presented with a flair. The service was attentive if just a tiny bit pushy. Particularly delicious: bacon stuffed dates, all the ceviche, grilled fish with spinach and potato...truly it was all good. And the room is dark paneled and inviting. Worth a visit.

We ate here with expectations of good Spanish food and reasonable prices. My adult daughter and I both found the food uncreative and somewhere between betweasic and bland. Service was ok, atmosphere was ok, but the flavors and taste were disappointing. I wouldn't go back.

My wife and I emoted this restaurant very much. The Havana Banana sangria was awesome. The empanada was excellent and we both enjoyed our dinners very much. It's located inside a hotel, so you may be slightly confused when you walk in. Just stay to your right. :)

Calle Ocho is a Latin restaurant located in the Excelsior Hotel on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. The restaurant has ambiance and low-lighting, the food is excellent, the presentation is exquisite, and the wait staff are friendly and attentive. I dined at the restaurant during NYC Restaurant Week. My dining companion and I both opted for the $42.00 pri-fixe,... More
