When I saw that Group-on was offering a special deal for Calle Ocho, a Latin fusion restaurant on the Upper West Side, I had no hesitation in taking the deal (3 courses for $75) for dining there again. They say that the "3rd time is a charm" & it definitely was last night at Calle Ocho, Steve & I began our... Every visit has been consistently good food. Nice atmosphere for just drinks also. Great area to explorer also, the American Museum of Natural History and Central park are right around the block.

Although pricey, the unimaginatively named Eighth Street (in English) does everything else with flair and attention. It did take some doing to get coats collected but once that service hurdle was crossed the rest of it was attentive without being overbearing (Thewestchestarian grows increasingly weary of ever mounting pressure to order more drinks in restaurants - particularly establishments already sporting... Purchased a groupon for 4 but only ended up with 3 people. Management had no problem with the last minute change and still gave us the 4th appetizer, entrée and desert. Food was outstanding and so was the sangria. Pricey but well worth it.

As a Latino you realize nothing will be like the food you grew up with but this was not even close to Latin flavors nor an interesting Nuevo Latino take. Granted I did not have the Paella everyone has gone wild over but. The fish I had was supposed to be snapper. Not. Over cooked and covered in a strange... More

We stated at the National History museum and ended up here for dinner. It was a short 10 minute walk and what a wonderful experience. There are a lot of reviews - so this one short. Sangria was full up - nice sized glass and a lot of flavors to pick from. Not a weak drink btw!!!! The best was... More

We had patronized the original Calle Ocho when it was on Columbus Ave. and loved it back then. We decided to try it again. This location is modern, large, and located inside the lobby of the Excelsior Hotel. I liked the old location better- it felt more intimate and as the evening progressed, I noticed some touches that had vanished... More

We had heard good things about this place and were excited to try it. Calle Ocho lives up the hype, the food was uniformly excellent from the bread served prior to the dinner arriving to the Calamari Frito to the Paella and Mar y Tierra. Everything was excellent. The wine selection was also well done with our server providing excellent... More

Came here for drinks and appetizers on a Saturday night. The place was pretty packed so we decided to sit at the lounge. It was very nice and cozy. We ordered 3 dishes to share and each was equally delicious. We had the grilled octopus, the camarones with avocado in a crispy onion shell (to die for) and the arepa... More

Stick to the bar and appetizers. Hector does a great mojito. If you want noise, bad service and so, so food go inside. We had to ask the wait staff, as they were going by,three times to clear our plates. Each time we were told "right away" and nothing until one of us angrily insisted. The food in the past... More
