I dont know why this place doesnt have better reviews. We stopped by for lunch and it was packed. The options on the menu are perfect for a light meal and you can also enjoy the famous onion soup. We chose the burger, croque madame,...croque monsieur, one crepe, the soup of the day and the lentil soup. We really enjoyed everything and mainly the place as oit is very cozy!More

We were seated upstairs and found our experience marred by a rude & arrogant server. He came to our table asking if we had questions. My husband asked about the house wines. The waiter told us the wines were Chilean. When we asked if they...were on the peppery side, he said that was a strange question. My husband then asked for a taste and the waiter just walked away. After several minutes, he brought back a sample to taste. He instructed us that we should have waited until he told us about the fondues that were available that night. He actually scolded us. I don’t remember his name unfortunately but he was blonde and in his 20s or 30s. The service went from bad to worse. He never brought us water. When we asked for more salad dressing as the bottle on the table was empty, he huffed and said next time, grab the dressing from the next table. Again, we were corrected. The food was delicious nevertheless. My husband & I both ordered the dinner salad of chicken and roasted red peppers. We also ordered a carafe of the house red wine. It was wonderful. I recommend sitting downstairs in the hopes that nobody ever has to endure a server scolding you or being spoken to in a patronizing demeanor. This was a first for us.More

Great spot for a quiet escape from the frenetic activity of midtown Manhattan. Go elsewhere for haute cuisine but come here if you want some old favorites done right. Service is attentive and unobtrusive. Excellent croque monsieur and crepes florentine both served with just the...right amount of greens, house dressing is very good. You will leave La Bonne Soupe full and happy.More

I have been dining at La Bonne Soup for 30 years. Every time I’m in NY I make sure to dine here at least once. My absolute favorite is their soup combo. The French onion soup is incredible and chocolate mousse fabulous. It’s fixed price...for French bread, small side salad, soup, desert and beverage. An outstanding value! The service is attentive and friendly. I like this restaurant and food so much I purchased the owners cookbook years ago.More

I have been going ti Le Bonne Soupe for years. Always had a wonderfuk meal. Went last week and was advised by another diner that the establishment had new owners. The onion soup was still great and so was our meal, however, was advised by...our waiter that they no longer offer the chocolate fondue for dessert. As that was one of the reasons we went there we will most likely start going downtown to Ayza which does have the fondue.More

We come here for supper every time we drive in to Manhattan for a concert at St. Thomas Episcopal Church on 5th ave. The food is always dependably tasty. Do not expect overheated gourmet flights of fancy, but fresh food well prepared.

Food was lovely but service was poor and waitress very rude, manager tried to help but waitress still rude - would not recommend!
