We had a lovely time at this elegant restaurant recently, and we had some wonderful food, but there was one problem we experienced. My wife and I both had the blackened swordfish with barbecue shrimp, sweet potato, and braised greens. It was delicious (see photo). Cooked just right, and the combination of flavors was excellent. Our daughter had the Porcini... More

We were enjoying the experience here until the salmon arrived. We both thought it tasted bad. The manager came to the table and actually argued that it was unlikely it was bad. He did resolve the issue but with ab it of hesitation. Other than that, all was fine.

We have been to the restaurant several times over the last few years and always enjoyed our meals. We came for brunch with a gilt city the first week in November. We were seated in the very rear of the restaurant at a small table for two with guests right behind us and the kitchen entrance directly adjacent to us... More

My wife and I recently had dinner at Blue Water Grill. We'd been there before and enjoyed it but this time was even better. The young ladies at the Reception Desk were very pleasant as was our waiter, Rick. Rick was very personable and was quick to answer any question we had concerning the menu. The food was the best... The appetizers are fabulous and seafood rolls are not to be missed. If you like truffles get the flounder. Get there early and enjoy the cocktail bar. Do not allow them to seat you in the basement unless you want a very quiet, sedate atmosphere. The main restaurant and balcony are the places to be for a lively ambience.

If you look at my past reviews of BWG I am a staunch advocate of what used to be one fine restaurant in NYC. My last experience around the holidays really has cemented that this restaurant is not at all what it used to be and barely hits the poor rating I am giving it for two dining experiences and... I came here for a business dinner and the meal and wine were just great. In fact, I was on a diet and they were so accommodating!

All I can say is WOW. The food is simply fantastic. It's not a tasting menu, and but it is quite the treat. The cauliflower appetizer was phenomenal, the mushrooms to die for, and honestly there was no dish that did not warrant praise and worship. As a true foodie, Michelin-Star-Fanatic type I was BLOWN AWAY. The drinks are also... More

I was really looking forward to taking a friend here while visiting NYC. 5:30pm on a Sunday was a nice mellow time to visit... and yet the service was very average at best. Our waiter just didn't seem the caliber of what you would expect at this level of restaurant. He was awkward, menu items were memorized with no depth... More

Staying in Flatiron District

Neighborhood Profile
Flatiron District
Offering many of the city’s best restaurants and shops set amid classic New York architecture, the Flatiron District is no longer under the tourist radar. At 23rd Street is the famous triangular Flatiron Building, which makes a good picture no matter what angle you photograph it from. Be sure to look up at the elegant architecture as you stroll the streets - much of this neighborhood is part of a historic district that was home to many of the city’s most famous department stores at the turn of the century. At the northern end of the neighborhood, Madison Square Park is best known for being home to a famous burger shack, but it can also be a quiet refuge to spend an afternoon, and it frequently hosts interesting public art exhibits. In the lower part of the Flatiron District you'll find Union Square, a bustling crossroads at all times of day and night.
