Italian food is my favorite and I have been told that New York City has the best Italian food, so my expectations were quite high. I arrived with a tour group from my state. I was not impressed with the garlic bread, but the pasta sauce was probably the worst thing I tasted. This surprised me because I did not... More

First, make a reservation. While we (2) did not AND it was a Monday night AND it was packed to bursting, we only waited for about 20 minutes to be seated. The problem with this is if you aren't hungry when you arrive at Carmine's, you are as soon as you step through the door. Be warned! The portions are... More

What a meal there! The food was Fantastic- glad we went there . Our second time and well worth it. Can't wait to go back. Service was decent and on point, just needed more formal waiter, ours was like a guy at a pizzeria too casual for this type Of place, also his appearence even that he was clean still... More

What a great meal we had here at Carmine’s. Served Family style, our rather large group was treated with the highest care. I would recommend this place to anyone who enjoys food.

Went to Carmine's as a group of 8. No problem getting a table. Food is served family style. Portions are huge, but not the prices. Surprised that they did not add a tip into the bill for our group - definitely left a good tip as the service was excellent.

Carmine's called 24 hours prior toy confirm the reservation. I was there half hour earlier and they had us seated. Food was excellent and staff very... More

This is not a place for dining alone! Food is served family style, and is great for sharing. Four of us shared two main dish platters, and there were leftovers! The atmosphere is casual and fun. Service is friendly and efficent. Our only disappointment was with the dessert chocolate cannolis. They were fine, but everything else was spectacular!

Description
Carmine's simple and very popular concept is to serve every meal in the style of an Italian American wedding feast - which means large portions of home-style antipasti, pastas, seafood and meat entrees served on large platters designed for sharing. And when we say large, we mean large. An entree here could easily feed three to four average eaters. Located in a sprawling, former grand ballroom on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, this is the original Carmines. Designed by Peter Niemitz, the interiors evoke the images of the quintessential New York restaurant. With elements and details from the 1920s to the 1940s, the restaurant has the look and feel of a place that has been around for much longer than it's 1990 opening. If you are in the market for freshly prepared family style Italian food that is served in huge portions at reasonable prices, this is the place for you.
