Unchanged for 15+ years now. Huge portions of richly flavored Italian American food that are designed for big groups. Service is prompt and courteous. Best to come with 6 or more hungry people. A major miss on the wine service last night, our bottle of red wine was served room temperature and poured into juice glasses. For $70 a bottle,... More

Italian family style dining.....no one leaves hungry. The portions are huge. As a couple we ordered the Chicken Marsala on angel hair pasta, it was served on a very large platter and would have fed 3 to 4 people. The food arrived hot & properly prepared. The server (Isabelle) was very attentive and friendly. Everyone leaves with a doggy bag.... More

This upper Westside location is generally less busy than the one located in the theater district. Both locations have the same casual, noisy atmosphere and offer large platters of good Italian food. Service can be slow and conversation with anyone not seated right next to you is difficult.

We invited a group of friends who were in NY from Boston and PA. It is a very cute and well designed restaurant for big groups. The food was big portion as usual, but extremely oily. The service was beyond poor. It was obvious that there was no management and the service was by themselves. The waiter kept asking my... More

This was the first time that my Fiancee and I have visited New York together. We had seen Carmine's on an episode of Man V Food, and conveniently spotted it only a couple of minutes walk from our hotel. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is extremely relaxed and friendly, the waiters are professional immediately provided a selection of delicious breads.... More

The place is busy and loud but the food is good. The catch here is to remember they serve "Family" style which means you get a platter that would probably feed five people every time you order an entree. Take the time to agree on what you all like and order accordingly not individually or you will have leftovers like... More

Went to Carmines for family dinner. I had eaten at the Times Square Location 20 years ago and it was excellent. First impression was, wow for 6:30 the place is half empty. Sat down and service was awful. The waitress introduced herself and went over the menu but never asked for drinks. We had to chase her down. Salad was... More

Carmine's simple and very popular concept is to serve every meal in the style of an Italian American wedding feast - which means large portions of home-style antipasti, pastas, seafood and meat entrees served on large platters designed for sharing. And when we say large, we mean large. An entree here could easily feed three to four average eaters. Located in a sprawling, former grand ballroom on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, this is the original Carmines. Designed by Peter Niemitz, the interiors evoke the images of the quintessential New York restaurant. With elements and details from the 1920s to the 1940s, the restaurant has the look and feel of a place that has been around for much longer than it's 1990 opening. If you are in the market for freshly prepared family style Italian food that is served in huge portions at reasonable prices, this is the place for you.
