I don't like pasta. But 30 years ago my friend wanted to eat here so we went and I had the best Caesar salad I had ever eaten. I am not sure how it is possible but this place is still great 30 years later. Crazy busy huge platters of food. And yes the Caesar salad is still awesome. Couldn't... More

When I think of NYC I think of Carmine 's. I've been going there over 30 years. Delicious family style Italian meals, presented on platters and definitely for sharing. A favorite salad is Carmine's salad as far as meals I've loved everything I've tried. I think great prices for the amount and quality of food. You need reservations to guarantee seating,... More

We visited this restaurant back in November, 2015 during the NYC marathon weekend. I would say that even though it was packed, we were given a high table right away and the pasta we ordered was amazing. The ambiance was nice and if ever go back to NYC I would make sure to stop by again.

The pasta is awesome! Try the ragatele al ragu. It's enormous! Feed up to 2 people! Very cozy place, the waiters are very attended. Need to make reservation.

We booked Carmine's for Christmas lunch as we were visiting New York for Christmas. The restaurant was busy. The portions were generous and the food was satisfactory. The service on the day was disappointing as the restaurant came recommended to us for its good service.

Famous for its big dishes. Good for pasta lovers. Location is always busy. We tried 2 pasta dishes to be shared by our family of 4. Taste is only average.

A taste of Italian American tradition with family dining. The food is great. Each order serves at least 4 people so order up a feast. Lots of great options, escarole, rigatoni with broccoli, roast chicken with potatoes. The bread is excellent but control yourself as the best follows. Everything is shared and take your time. No one rushes you out... More

We booked Carmines for our Christmas lunch in New York, purely from Trip Advisor reviews and it didn't disappoint. Wonderful Christmas atmosphere and decor. The meals are HUGE. We had an excellent waiter Andrew, who carefully guided us through the menu. We felt like it was an authentic Italian experience. Thoroughly recommend for groups.

This place is busy and packed full of family's enjoying a feast together. The prices are good and so is the food. The Caesar salad is by far the best I've ever had. The shrimp scampi was ok, the chicken parmigiana was better. Fast service, but only with a reservation. Way better than Times Square location.

Description
Carmine's simple and very popular concept is to serve every meal in the style of an Italian American wedding feast - which means large portions of home-style antipasti, pastas, seafood and meat entrees served on large platters designed for sharing. And when we say large, we mean large. An entree here could easily feed three to four average eaters. Located in a sprawling, former grand ballroom on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, this is the original Carmines. Designed by Peter Niemitz, the interiors evoke the images of the quintessential New York restaurant. With elements and details from the 1920s to the 1940s, the restaurant has the look and feel of a place that has been around for much longer than it's 1990 opening. If you are in the market for freshly prepared family style Italian food that is served in huge portions at reasonable prices, this is the place for you.
