This Carmine's location is on the Upper West Side of Central Park. It is obviously where you come to celebrate any occasion with ALL your friends. I'm not sure how many times the staff brought out this AMAZING-looking flaming Titanic of a dessert last night and sang to tables. Food was delicious. Gigantic proportions for two (could have easily served... More

We had a great family dinner for 20. Food was delicious and very plentiful. The staff was very accommodating with allergies and gluten free pasta.

We stopped in for dinner after The Lion King. There was a bit of a wait and it was crowded and cramped but it was so worth it! We were seated by a couple who warned us of the huge portions so we only ordered one entree and one salad to share. Even sharing we had enough left over to... More

The meals are made for four persons so for two its a lot to eat. An Italian place that I return to every trip to New York

Generous portions and great tasting! Nice ambiance as well. We left full and satisfied, and would definitely come back again when we are in NY.

We had the best time there! The family style serve was awesome, everything was excellent! It was tough to get a drink because the place was slammed, but once we got our table and ordered a few bottles of wine, we were set! I hope to visit them every time I go to New York now! Hands down the best... More

We liked the reviews for Carmine's and we do like family style. We tried to go to the other location but it was booked for 5 days in advance. We were able to get a table for the same evening at this location. It was excellent and very busy so don't let the location sway you. We had the chicken... More

We're country bumpkins so New York was a serious but wonderful assault on all our senses, vibrant, buzzing, manic, it made us feel so alive and that's exactly how Carmines made us feel too. It was a busy Friday evening at 7.00pm and we hadn't booked but they were so accommodating they squeezed us in and we are so grateful... More

This place is fantastic. Ensure you make a reservation. Order half of what you are planning -- it's just so much food! They do bring bread to the table, so you may wish to forgo ordering garlic bread with cheese (although it's so yummy you really should try it). It is a very loud restaurant but settles to a din... This place is located in the heart of the theatre district so is ideal after watching a show. It does get busy in the evening so may be worth booking in advance to avoid waiting for a table. The staff are friendly and the ambient is lively and cosy at the same time. The portion sizes are very generous, in... More

Description
Carmine's simple and very popular concept is to serve every meal in the style of an Italian American wedding feast - which means large portions of home-style antipasti, pastas, seafood and meat entrees served on large platters designed for sharing. And when we say large, we mean large. An entree here could easily feed three to four average eaters. Located in a sprawling, former grand ballroom on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, this is the original Carmines. Designed by Peter Niemitz, the interiors evoke the images of the quintessential New York restaurant. With elements and details from the 1920s to the 1940s, the restaurant has the look and feel of a place that has been around for much longer than it's 1990 opening. If you are in the market for freshly prepared family style Italian food that is served in huge portions at reasonable prices, this is the place for you.
