We were in new york, so booked to eat here before went. The place was beautiful the staff super attentive. The food was so nice. The only thing i would say was, we were very disappointed when we got there, that it was only a...taster menu being served, it was $188.00 per person, there was no other choices (apart from another one with wine matching even more expensive). Whilst the food was nice i struggled with spending this much one one meal. We had one bottle of wine. The bill came to $657.00 with the tip. We would never spend that much money on one meal ever. I didn't see anywhere on the website it was a taster menu only. We would eat there again but not if it was a taster menuMore

It is hard to pinpoint what facet of the experience was most impactful... the food, ambiance, and service were all equal parts excellent. The pacing was splendid and my wife and I truly felt transported to somewhere outside of the city for the evening. Our...5th anniversary was well taken care of by Chef Daniel and his culinary and service staff. Even after a weekend full of adventures in NYC we are still returning to the memories made at Daniel. I highly recommend it and can attest that the food and journey are well worth your time and money. Perhaps your table will get a visit by the namesake himself...More

A very good restaurant but the plates are made to satisfy North American appetite. The portions were huge for a 2 stars Michelin … I have a big appetite myself but even with the four courses menu I couldn’t finish my desert! Don’t make me...wrong it was delicious but I was a little disappointed by the size of the portions and the plate presentation . We did a lot of one stars Michelin and some of them were more subtile in their presentation. The Maître d’hôtel was very Nice and came frequently to have a chat with us .More

Anything that I write won't convey the magic if Daniel. Is it expensive? Yes. Is it great food, ambiance, service and wine-yep. But what does that really mean? It means that the genuine spirit of hospitality reigns here. Chef Daniel live upstairs-and you feel that.... It is as though you are his guest. There is a genuine love of hospitality here. The servers treat you like family, as do the somms. (PS: Shout out to Somm Erin. I ordered a bottle of wine, they had run out the night before--and she suggested an perfect replacement--at a lower price point. We went for the scaled down tasting menu-and it was plenty of food. Another tip is to sit in the lounge area and you can eat ala carte. We may even try that next time. The menu changes regularly, and is NOT heavy. This is reasonably portioned, light touch French influenced fresh cooking. Don't think you are going to eat salt and cream all night. Just a terrific evening.More

My husband and my niece's boyfriends planned to surprise me and my niece to a dinner for four. We loved the food, the presentation and the generous serving. I was never this full, but cannot barely finish the desert. We had the 7-course tasting menu....All were well, however we just felt judged or that uncomfortable feeling. Our server kept making comments that I do not understand how to make sense of it. When asked what are we celebrating, we said it was our wedding anniversary, the server responded, "So it's your anniversary, you will leave a good tip." I find it so tacky for a fine dining restaurant to make such comments (although we did give a good tip for the record). We also ordered sparkling water and the server kept bringing in tap water; there is not much of attention to detail, as the glass were kept empty, my husband have to keep getting their attention to refill. The server then said that the other server is "new and is still on training", again, it is not so pleasant to embarrass a co-worker. It is somehow just the main server that kinda turned us off for the dinner, otherwise the sommelier was excellent, the food presentation, the taste and wine selection is superb.More

We attended this restaurant based on the recommendation of our hotel concierge and that it had two Michelin stars. We have been fortunate to have dined at many of the best restaurants in Europe and was interesting to see how New York compared. Most of...the staff were very courteous and welcoming, but one of our servers was rather abrupt and he rushed through the description of the food items. We had the 4 course menu with wine pairings. Generally the food was good. Several dishes had a fantastic appearance, but the flavours were not quite as good. The worst dish was the amuse Bouche, based on broccoli. Of the three items presented, one was bitter, and the other two were rather bland. We did pass on this feedback to our server. It is probably very challenging to make a really interesting broccoli amuse Bouche. Special mention to Erin the sommelier, who was knowledgeable, informative and very helpful. We really liked her choice of wines.More

The food at Daniel was excellent. The meal began with a superb foie gras. Bravo! The texture was ethereal. This was followed by black bass which was well prepared. Pigeon was similarly excellent. My criticism was with the wine service. There needs to be better...coordination between the kitchen and the somms. It simply can never happen that a dish arrives without its accompanying wine. That occurred twice during the dinner.More

Daniel NYC, a highend restaurant for a reason. Fantastic restaurant where one goes to "dine" rather than eat. Everything from the food to the service to the space, etc. exceeds most standards that have come before Daniel's existence. Upon entering the restaurant, the beautiful setting...takes one's breath away with the white marble columns, high ceilings and pure white linen tablecloth...a very palatial feel. The server greets you like an old friend and has a pleasant conversation rather than a patron. He casually discusses the menu which he knows intimitately and offers some suggestions checking frequently but not being intrusive. The food is delicious and carefully prepared. The amuse bouche exceeded it's purpose and opened tastes buds with an explosion. Three items, and to describe what they were would not do the chef justice. Just have have faith in the culinary skills of the chef. In the four course delight, The foie gras proved very tasty, flavorful but not pungent. The second course, The Diver Scallops were presented like a work of art where scallops were sliced thinly over a layer of sauce and pototatoes. The main entree with the Halibut was absolutely devine, A generous piece that proved very tasty. The dessert was sweet but not overbearing and was a perfect compliment to the end of the meal. Daniel proved to be a delightful dining exprience in food, service and ambiance. Definitely a once in a life time visit.More

We dined at Daniel one week ago to celebrate 2 special birthdays. The food was phenomenal, presentation was beautiful and the service impeccable. A special mention to our head waiter, JORGE, for his humor and professionalism. They went out of their way to make sure everything was perfect and far exceeded our expectations. This was our first visit to Daniel in 10 years. It was our 10th anniversary trip. We are so happy Daniel made it through the pandemic and is still stellar. The service was impeccable, especially from Peter. We got the four course and Hannah had...arranged to make sure that my picky eater spouse was able to eat things that didn’t have seafood or vegetables. Course after course were revelations in flavor. We had the wine pairing and John worked with us to make sure that we were happy with what we had. There were a couple that we had to change and he was very accommodating. The only foible I would say is that the desserts were not to our taste. We tried several each. Honestly we would’ve been happy with ice cream and the Madeline’s. They were delicious. It was Fine, they made an accommodation on the bill for that withiut being asked. It was a memorable, wonderful, magical evening. If you go to New York City and you have the scratch to do it go to Daniel. We got to meet Chef Daniel and he was so very nice and seemed to be very happy that everybody was having a good time. Everybody at Daniel is wonderful. It was one of our greatest meals ever.More
