This is a decent size dining room(14-16 indoor seating. A few tables outside). We were asked for our vaccine cards. They had an additional "lunch menu" which I did not see on-line. We were greeted promptly. We came in at lunch time. My wife had...pancakes. I had lox&bagel with a cup of slit pea soup. I got the soup quickly. The soup did not have a whole lot of flavor. Then got the entrees shortly after that. Appeared 1 pancake was a lot darker than the others. The lox were plenty. My wife's coffee came with milk rather than cream/half&half. The server was not the friendliest. The bussers were very friendly. The other food coming out seemed to be very healthy portions.More

The food was amazing. But we had some odd charges... $2 for "open food"???? And a service fee. The prices of the food were not out of line with other NYC dining experiences - but the extra fees were just weird. Service was fine. We...felt welcomed.More

The separated and plexiglassed booths and tables make Sarge’s less noisy and cramped, while keeping the deli atmosphere. The no-nonsense, brusque service added to the deli feel, but I sensed they were happy to see us. The pastrami is truly excellent, macnine-sliced and very thin...but as good as hand sliced, with enough fat and a good rub. Corned beef was also very good, but as is normal, a bit dry and lean (some people prefer it that way). The menu is huge, but it’s hard to skip the pastrami.More

This restaurant charges fees for credit cards but does not warn customers. i was surprised to see a surcharge in my invoice. This restaurant cares less about having customers. The manager expelled me from the restaurant and did not offer any kind of satisfaction. The...Owner of this restaurants is going to have a problem with such incompetent manager.More

DURING TIME OF VIRUS......SPECTACULAR. We ordered sandwiches and fixings on Seamless Delivery and everything was just great. Of the choices on the upper eastside, this is far and away the best. We had pastrami, corned beef and roast beef. Just great.

I was starved when I got to Sarges for dinner that night and the meal was well worth the wait. Since there is no inside dining, I ate outside in their make-shift dining room. That was nice because it was a beautiful day to eat...outside and it was a very civil way to eat. I had the half a sandwich and soup entree. I got the Pastrami sandwich on rye which came with two pickles and the Matzo Ball soup which came with a side of bread and a Gus's Cherry soda. I was impressed. At first I did not think this was enough food but after eating it was just enough. The Pastrami was piled high and was tender and well spiced. I added the spicy mustard they gave me and just pieces at a time and then ate the sandwich. The Matzo Ball soup was delicious but could have had pieces of chicken or vegetables in it. The broth was full of flavor though and was perfect on the cool night. Eating outside was fun on a beautiful night and it was nice there was a civil place to sit. It was nice to just sit back and watch the City come to life on a Saturday evening. The counter service was friendly and quick and I had a nice meal.More

We love the food here but there were a couple of staff members not wearing masks. They weren’t the ones making our food or I would’ve abandoned my order. We had a really large order and it’s all good so far but we will not...be back until after coronavirus if the staff can’t abide by a simple rule of wearing a mask.More

What a disappointment. I ordered a cake for my aunt's birthday here. Unfortunately, after the disturbing experience, she never got it. When I arrived two minutes before 10am, I was screamed at and informed that no one could help me by all of the men...behind the counter preparing food. When someone who was willing to help me finally arrived, she was very nice and apologetic for the behavior. However, during my wait I realized there was a total of 3 men working without face coverings or gloves of any sort, two of them behind the counter preparing food. I drew the line and requested a refund when one of the men with no face mask or gloves started handling my cake to box it up. For a restaurant that proudly displays multiple signs stating you can not enter or be served without a proper face covering, it is preposterous, reckless and entirely disrespectful to allow your staff to handle the food of others while not practicing proper safety protocols. The establishment is a JOKE and patrons should beware.More

So we wanted to try New York's biggest sandwich so we ordered The Monster - it was "Served on Thick Sliced Rye Bread, with Corned Beef, Pastrami,Roast Beef, Fresh Turkey, Salami,Sliced Tomato, Lettuce,Cole Slaw & Russian Dressing" and it was $52. We got it delivered to...our hotel room via one of New York's many delivery companies. The sandwich was well packaged and it was well delivered, it was all held together without any issues from the delivery. It was absolutely huge, ive got a big head and it was the size of my head! The meat was absolutely delicious, really great quality ingredients. My favourites were the corned beef and the turkey. It was a really well prepared sandwich. As far as getting it finished we were nowhere near - it was a pathetic effort and there was 2 of us! But i can say we have tried New York's biggest sandwich! Really delicious food, give it a go. See if you can take on The Monster from Sarge's! Next time we go we will definitely be trying it again.More

If you're a vegan, then a NYC deli is maybe not the best choice you could make, as your choices will be extremely limited. I agree with RonFG that the best people to give you an answer are the people who run the restaurant... More
