I took 50-75 international high school students to John's Pizza every Friday for lunch for 7 weeks. They were always prepared for us and the wait staff was incredibly accommodating. The food is top of the line. The atmosphere is unique, as the building was previously a church. Make sure you pay attention to the detailed mural and stained glass... More

We had been across the street at the Shubert and decided it was to late for dinner and too early to go back to the hotel. So what do you do now? Get a pizza of course? We saw John's Pizza and decided that was the place we needed. They have large or small pizzas with a huge selection of... More

The service was good and the pizza authentic but what made our visit was the venue which had been sympathetically converted from a church

I wanted to take my mom for some NY style pizza near our hotel. This was a great choice. The pie had a great character crust wise and the toppings were very tasty. It was also served quickly and straight from the oven. There is a full bar and some great choices on draft beer.

Visited this restaurant upon recommendation on our first night in New York City. We ordered a large pizza to share with a few extra toppings. It was huge and very good. I had a cocktail while my husband opted for beer. The drinks were very expensive but the food was good value. Service was quick and very good

We have visited with my wife john's twice in our three days stay at New York, it is a very customer friendly place with nice decoration quite close from the center of Manhattan and we were really possitevely surprised by the unique taste and excellent quality of their pizza.

Pricey but worth the trip! We spent $92 for a large pizza and four beers to go with two side salads. This converted church was awesome inside and pizza was made in a brick oven.

John's is a pie only (pie is NY speak for a whole pizza) no slice pizza place. The restaurant is huge. It is actually a really cool building and we were told it was an old abandoned church and you could see that with the original stained glass and fixtures. The pizzas are coal fired so it isn't a typical... More

Assured by our hosts that this was an ideal place to grab a bite of some authentic New York Style pizza, we were very satisfied with our visit. A 15 minute wait by the bar passed quickly as we watched the baseball, and we were soon into our food. They turn over the tables fast here, so there isn't much... More

We were lucky, we just walked right in and got a table upstairs. The service was good and the food was excellent. You wouldn't think pizza could be so variable but we went to another place in NYC and paid more for something that wasn't anywhere near as good.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
