This was my third visit to John’s, having been directed there via reviews and/or Lonely Planet on my first solo visit in 2017. I’ve been back in New York each year since, and visited John’s each time. On solo visits I was sat at the...bar, by the door, and love the atmosphere of people coming and going into such a clearly well-loved pizzeria. On this occasion we were seated in the main hall, which likewise has a great buzz about the place. It doesn’t look much from the outside, but that’s part of its charm. It goes without saying that the pizzas are consistently great, and the bar selection also well stocked. There’s something about the place... I’ll be back!More

Great pizza! We try to try different restaurants each time we head to NYC. I have heard so much about Johns that I added it as a stop one of the last times we were in the city as we needed somewhere quick. It was...amazing pizza. We also split a salad which had huge portions. Happy to say I finally tried famous NYC pizza.More

The first time we visited was after a day on our feet, we had a 30 minute wait for a table, it was rammed jammed with school kids and felt like a canteen. But the food was amazing. The food was so good we came...back on our last night, we had a different experience. Didn't wait long for a table and the ambience was much better. Pizza was once again amazing.More

We were recommended this place by the big bus tour guide, said it was the ‘best pizza in New york’. From the outside it looks grungy and dirty, then you walk through and it’s a massive room with a glass stained ceiling but it’s so...dark and dingy and also very noisy. I went here with my mum and I literally couldn’t hear a word she was saying and she was right next to me. It was very busy but we were seated quickly. They don’t offer you drinks, just put a jug of water on the table. Took about 40 minutes for a small pepperoni pizza. Weren’t that impressive. The middle of the pizza was very greasy and the cheese flopping off, the crust was nice but very thin and crispy, quite hard to chew. $18 dollars for a small pizza + tip, plus the waiter wasn’t the friendliest. I was left underwhelmed. I am from the U.K. and I’m not being funny you can buy better pizzas from the supermarket! They should also offer a deep dish pizza.More

Its worth the wait. Order a margarita pizza and a calamari appetizer. Both are fantastic and enough for 3 to share. Everything is fresh . It’s a great stop after theatre r museums.

Was recommended to visit Johns by the host on the Big Bus Tour and I'm so glad we did. The large Pizza was great value for three and combined with the hot wings and caesar salad made a great meal. Service was great and the...restaurant clean. The only thing that stopped this being 5 star was the fact the soft drinks were not refills. Consider buying a pitcher as you will get about six drinks out of it so better value.More

Pizza is fantastic, but its the crust that puts it over the top! Not doughy, not chewy. Slightly crispy and great flavor. Never had crust this good.

Stopped here for a late lunch after hours of walking! The building was unique and quite beautiful. The food was fast, hot and delicious. Our waiter was attentive and due to our timing there was no wait for a table. Will definitely eat here again!

We pass by for dinner. The hostess who was busy fixing her lipstick told us that the waiting time is about 45/50 minutes, so we decided to take an order to go. The guy who took our order was more sassy than his colleague. We...waited for our order which supposed to be 20 minutes. We are a family with a stroller, so we waited by the back, we were told to move to the stairs area. We set by the restroom door, and then we were asked to move again. We objected that there is no even a waiting area, and the manager supposedly which was the most impolite within had an attitude, so we asked to cancel our order, and get a refund. We left, and we went to eat in a decent place not a huge unorganized lack of professionalism place.More

We were hungry and was craving for some pizza and or pasta for late lunch on a saturday afternoon. This restautant was recommended by a bystander so we literally googled it went in there. Food was a little pricy but I think for it's history...& authenticness it was worth the price. Id loved to order a spaghetti with meatballs but I thout 20+ dollars was a little bit high. So we just opted out for a large pan pizza with 8 slices! Half bourbon & half hawaiian. It was delicious! When I return, Ill save some $$$ to try their pasta!More

No but please do not even think about wasting your money at this place. It is disgustingly dirty, the wait is long, you will be packed in like cattle, the pizza is OK but not fabulous, the team working there does not care... More

Hello, I don't believe the Pizza is available as Gluten Free but they do have Gluten Free Penne- which if it's at all like everything else on the Huge menu, will be fantastic. Enjoy. Check out their menu at Johnspizzarianyc
