This Pizza restaurant is based inside on old church and yet the ambiance felt like being in a school canteen... Although the ceiling was pretty neat. We went for a large Margarita Pizza and added Bacon, Pepperoni, Onions and Sausage. Each extra topping was like $4 each and the topping portions were far from generous. At one point I called the waiter over and asked if they had forgot to put the bacon on our pizza. He looked at it for a minute then pointed at this small fatty strip on the pizza and said "That there is bacon". It just felt like a bit of a tourist trap restaurant that was all about extracting as much money for a pizza as possible without caring too much about the quality of what was being served. So one Large 8 slice pizza with 4 extra toppings was US$43.80 (inc tax) which to me is simply crazy. Service was also on the slow side. In summary we have had far better pizza from other locations that are more generously topped and are half the price. I would recommend looking elsewhere if you want good pizza in NYC.

Was recommended to visit Johns by the host on the Big Bus Tour and I'm so glad we did. The large Pizza was great value for three and combined with the hot wings and caesar salad made a great meal. Service was great and the restaurant clean. The only thing that stopped this being 5 star was the fact the soft drinks were not refills. Consider buying a pitcher as you will get about six drinks out of it so better value.

We were recommended this place by the big bus tour guide, said it was the ‘best pizza in New york’. From the outside it looks grungy and dirty, then you walk through and it’s a massive room with a glass stained ceiling but it’s so dark and dingy and also very noisy. I went here with my mum and I literally couldn’t hear a word she was saying and she was right next to me. It was very busy but we were seated quickly. They don’t offer you drinks, just put a jug of water on the table. Took about 40 minutes for a small pepperoni pizza. Weren’t that impressive. The middle of the pizza was very greasy and the cheese flopping off, the crust was nice but very thin and crispy, quite hard to chew. $18 dollars for a small pizza + tip, plus the waiter wasn’t the friendliest. I was left underwhelmed. I am from the U.K. and I’m not being funny you can buy better pizzas from the supermarket! They should also offer a deep dish pizza.

We pass by for dinner. The hostess who was busy fixing her lipstick told us that the waiting time is about 45/50 minutes, so we decided to take an order to go. The guy who took our order was more sassy than his colleague. We waited for our order which supposed to be 20 minutes. We are a family with a stroller, so we waited by the back, we were told to move to the stairs area. We set by the restroom door, and then we were asked to move again. We objected that there is no even a waiting area, and the manager supposedly which was the most impolite within had an attitude, so we asked to cancel our order, and get a refund. We left, and we went to eat in a decent place not a huge unorganized lack of professionalism place.

Out on a first date, and my date wanted pizza. I chose John's of Times Square based on the good reviews I read online. I wanted pepperoni, my date wanted just cheese, so we order half pepperoni half cheese. It was the worst pizza ever!!! I think the pizza they served us was a joke, or an sample pizza to train the employees what NOT to serve to paying customers. It was so bad, I almost feel like we were pranked! I took a photo of the pizza immediately after they brought it to our table. Take a look! What a disgrace! I was so embarrassed that I chose this restaurant. Never again will we visit John's of Times Square.

I hate leaving negative reviews, but I genuinely don't want people to waste their money here. The pizzas were awful, the marinara had literally no flavour and the chicken pizza was so salty it was inedible, two extremes. 4 of us didn't bother finishing the two pizzas and that's unheard of. The waiter also disagreed with our tip, which was low because quite frankly it was one of the worst meals I've ever had, and that made the situation extremely embarrassing.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We are so sorry you were not happy with your meal, and please know you could have asked for a different pizza if it was not what you were looking for. We do hope you try one of our traditional pizzas during your next time in NYC.

I had been to the restaurant a few years ago pre-theater and it was a very good, inexpensive meal. Last night a friend and I went for a bite before a show and it was absolutely awful. The chicken wings were well done, as requested but drenched in hot sauce. I ordered a Caesar salad with grilled chicken and after a few bites I stopped eating. The chicken was soooo dry it was inedible and the parmesan cheese tasted like cardboard. My friend's meal was equally awful. She ordered a grilled chicken panini which was on white bread, greasy and had more pesto than chicken. Again the chicken was so dry she stopped eating. Needless to say, I will never go back.

We arrived around 4:00 on a Sunday. There was no outside line at that time but we still had to wait about 40 minutes to be seated. The remnants of the old church are interesting though we ended up being seated near the front where we couldn’t see the stained glass. We started with red wine sangria which was flavorful but not sweet. Our pizza arrived about 15 minutes after we ordered it—tasty, but not among the best in the city. Our two sangrias and the pizza was nearly $60.

Excellent pizza, and the garlic knots are to die for. Very, very good. Great architecture being in an old church building that was converted to a restaurant. The walls in the entryway tell a story of famous people that have ate there. Long waits are common on Friday and Saturday evenings.

We came here because we had heard about it and the interior is very cool inside an old church. We arrived as soon as it opened and we're glad we did. Otherwise the wait would have been well over an hour. The interior is cool, but we were shoved in a corner and couldn't really see it. Also our server was not friendly or attentive. You also have to pay for refills of soft drinks and us southerners don't love that. ;) The food was good, but it's NYC so you can find really great pizza in a convenient store.

We made it here shortly before closing time on a Friday night and were somehow taken directly to a table. Hands down the best pizza I have ever had. Our server was awesome! We tried to come back around dinner time on Saturday night, but the wait was over an hour and my wife just couldn't wait out in the cold any more. We will definitely be returning.

Visited this week and ordered the meatball sandwich and the buffalo chicken pizza. Sandwich came cold then half an hour later the pizza turned up , my partner had eaten her sandwich and had to watch me struggle to eat my over done pizza , i suggest they learn how to time each tables food so people can eat together which is normal in the uk , i really begrudged paying the 27 dollars plus sales tax then the 18 percent tip which is daylight robbery . Avoid this place and eat just around the corner at the small pizzeria , better food and half the price. Toilets were filthy and if i had been in before id eaten i would not have eaten there .

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We take all reviews seriously, and very sorry for your recent visit to our restaurant. Food should be timed correctly to both arrive within a few minutes of each other (they come from different kitchens since all of our pizzas are made to order out in the open in the restaurant) Our food prices reflect family style portions, meant to be shared by a few people. We are very sorry again for your experience.

We were hungry and was craving for some pizza and or pasta for late lunch on a saturday afternoon. This restautant was recommended by a bystander so we literally googled it went in there. Food was a little pricy but I think for it's history & authenticness it was worth the price. Id loved to order a spaghetti with meatballs but I thout 20+ dollars was a little bit high. So we just opted out for a large pan pizza with 8 slices! Half bourbon & half hawaiian. It was delicious! When I return, Ill save some $$$ to try their pasta!

Firstly, U.K. dominos are better, the queue system was chaotic and the the staff rude and abrupt, took an hour to get in and seated. Pizza choice was bland and hugely expensive, pizza was bland tbh and the crusts inedible. Was it okay? Kind of Was it clean? Yep Was it good value? Nope Would I come back? Nope

The pizza was ok but the lack of service and smell and sound of construction then you can go there. They also raised the price of food. I paid $9 for garlic bread but here it states $4 Even on the menu at the restaurant it said 6.5. If they want more money serve better food.

Thank you for your review. We are sorry for your experience at our restaurant, but we are trying our best to continue to add additional ways to insure the health safety of our guests during these times while keeping our tables over 6 feet apart. Our garlic bread is $6.50 for a small order and $9.50 for a large order, and an additional cost if you add cheese, that is stated on our menu.
