We love the filet at Bobby Van's and normally go to the one on 50th street. Additionally my daughter is a celiac and I have a seafood allergy and they are normally great in accommodating. We were staying nearby so we thought we'd try this one. Overall the atmosphere is not as rich, it's more cookie cutter steak house. Our... More

This is the ideal lunch spot for business people on a schedule. The ambiance is nice -- exactly what one would expect for a midtown eatery catering to a business crowd. The service is very friendly (if a bit formal) and very fast -- kind of amazing that they prepare good food that quickly. One can be in and out... More

The food here is amazing! Slightly over priced. The staff defiantly Jude you on your appearance to dress smart. We met a couple there and the waiter lied and said they don't have a wine list until her partner showed up. Rather rude! But the food was amazing so if you don't mind all that, go for it !

Fantastic steak, didn't say weight on menu but covered half the plate, great flavor and perfectly cooked. The sides were huge, my friend ordered the fried onions, courgette and potato chips and that would have been a decent meal by itself. Staff were helpful and friendly and seemed to appreciate my English accent. Great location just by Grand Central station... More

Couldn't have been more accommodating. We were there on a Sat night, not too crowded. The waiter was very attentive. We had their delicious homemade chips, only served at the bar, but fantastic. My Cosmo was just perfect. Steak cooked to perfection. Salad and asparagus just right. Dessert was tiramisu and they gave us some cheesecake to sample too. Cappuccino... More

The location is top and the restaurant has that special "after office" flair. The service was very good and attentive. Red wine by the glas was priced acceptably and very good for an open wine. However, the sirloin steak lacked taste and texture. I have had much better ones for $57. I should have gone with the waiter's recommendation of... More

I'd made a reservation for two on OpenTable. At 5:00 pm on a Monday, the restaurant was deserted. Still, the smarmy maître d' led us through the empty restaurant to what had to be the worst table in the place, crammed between the kitchen door and a server's station. Then, inexplicably, he insisted I had requested that table in my... More

We went by Bobby Vans steak house to get the correct vibe on before going to see Jersey Boys on stage. Great steaks, good service and a reasonable price made for a great evening!

This is an old fashioned New York steakhouse, with a pleasant bar and a simple dining room on the corner of the Helmsley building. We had two petite filets at $46 each! They were tender but under seasoned. The bearnaise was good, but my side of asparagus was so absurdly large it could have fed four. Staff were pleasant enough,... More

Description
Located in New York's landmark Helmsley Building, Bobby Van's Steakhouse has been serving the best porterhouse in town for the last eleven years. Upon entering, one is greeted with the sight of a credenza groaning under the weight of large bottles of wine. A bar full of regular customers is on the left and looking into the one-hundred seat dining room, one sees the thirty foot high ceiling and windows overlooking Park Avenue. To complement our Prime Aged Steaks our Sommelier has created an award winning wine list. Whether you're looking for a big Cabernet, a Pinot Noir or something in between our comprehensive list is sure to please. "

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
