I'd always avoided this place because there always seems to be a line BUT I was at Bleecker St playground with my kids and I was starving. I figured, hey, may as well check out this iconic place! First recommendation? DO NOT GET A CUPCAKE. They were not good. Like...pretty bad. Dry and crumbly. Their other treats may be better... More

The best cheescake I've ever tried! Magnolia Bakery is a must, especially if you have a sweet-tooth :) If you are a Sex and the City fan, then it's just few steps away from Carrie Bradshaw's apartment. Enjoy!

While you may argue that there are better cupcakes and cakes out there, this is a NYC staple that cannot be missed. This is particularly true for this shop, which is near Carrie Bradshaw's house, so a visit here completes the Sex and the City experience that every fan of the show wants to live. The shop is small and... More

I have visited Magnolia twice and both times I have been underwhelmed with the taste experience. With all the hype surrounding this bakery, I have to admit that I came with high expectations! However, I have had several cheesecakes and cup caps from hole in the wall bakeries that were at least twice as good as Magnolias stuff.. the cheese... More

Friendly staff and amazing cakes. Cupcakes were delicious. So light and fluffy. I will be back to get more during our stay. There are quite a few locations which is handy. Cheesecakes looked good too. Love it! Best cupcakes ever.

Just heaven. Unbelievable! Expect to queue, but it's definitely worth it! Spend the day in Greenwich too. What a glorious part of NYC. My fave!

I was here with a friend and we walked quite a bit just because we had heard about the famous banana pudding and it was definitely worth the walk. It has pretty decent cupcakes too.

Bought two cupcakes, one chocolate with meringue icing and red velvet with meringue icing. So yummy I'm going back tomorrow to get more .. Loved them! Tried an iced caramel latte .. Not the nicest but then again I'm used to Australian coffee which is much nicer all round. Definitely try their cakes!

The walk to the bakery was really nice. The shop was quite small. The staff was quite slow. The banana puding and the key lime cheesecake are favourites.

I had a chocolate cupcake with chocolate buttercream frosting that was very tasty. I also had the peanut butter icebox pie bar. It was ooey gooey and delicious!

Staying in West Village

Neighborhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighborhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
