This is the place to go if you have a sweet tooth. I can do without the sugar fix but it's good place to go for gelato on a hot summer day. Ice cream is a bit pricey but then they have to pay the rent. Small teeny cup for a fiver. It's supposed to be gelato but it tasted... More

We came here for dessert and was attracted by the display of cakes and such. Ordered tiramisu and cappucino for myself. Hubby has pistachio gelato and coffee. Tastes was so good, it brought back memories of my Italian trip. There is perpetual queue of people doing takeaways of its pastries and cakes. Truly a fantastic place run by this Italian... More

Ferrara is a great "old school" bakery with a gelato/sweets available for purchase outside on the sidewalk or inside with a full service dessert menu restaurant. My kids loved the quality of the gelato and it was fun to purchase some pastries and cookies to go.

I have been to Ferraras three times, over a 17 year span. Prices too high, crowds way too much.... save the time, head over to Roccos and you will not regret it. I fell upon this via a Free Tours by Foot Guide, and it was absolutely worth the visit (twice) while on vacation.

Cannoli was on the list of things to do in New York. We ordered cannoli, gelato and the lobster tail, specialty coffees and a Limoncello martini. Everything was delicious! Fun place to stop and refuel after a day of exploring the city. Atmosphere was great and the service even better.

We were excited to walk through and experience little italy and Ferrara is definitely worth a stop. Lots of street vendors were offering gelato and cannolis but I'm glad we waited for Ferraras. It's a great location nice but not very attentive wait staff. Our first thought was to go inside but after waiting for 10 minutes for a waiter... More

This bakery has table and counter service, as well as an outdoor gelato bar. The selection is as beautiful as it is delicious. There are also restrooms upstairs. We had a regular cannoli and a chocolate covered one. This much sugar should be illegal.

Staying in Little Italy

Neighborhood Profile
Little Italy
While Little Italy is one of the city's smallest neighbourhoods, its streets are packed with visitors from around the globe, especially on summer weekends when the streets are closed to traffic. Stroll up Mulberry Street, the heart of Little Italy, for a dense mix of Italian restaurants with sidewalk tables, cafes, and old-school food shops. Don’t be surprised when the hosts beckon you to pay them a visit. Stop in for a coffee and a cannoli, or grab a streetside table to take in the scenery over a hearty Italian meal.
