I was touring colleges and I went out to eat after a long day. The table side guacamole was so good and the dessert was to die for! Doesn't hurt that our waiter was adorable either!

Apparently this is a small chain, but it did not feel that way, it felt more like a unique location. It's a beautiful facility that is multifaceted. The high-ceiling dining area is roomy, a bar and lounge is busy with the after-work younger crowd, and it has large private catering rooms in the back. The service is attentive, e.g., a... More

One thing all the Rosa Mexicano's I have been to have in common is their ability to execute things the same. The guacamole is just as good from one to the other, which isn't always the case with chains.

We went to Rosa Mexicano for dinner with my childhood friend. The restaurant has a bar area and a dining area inside. It's quite a large restaurant and can get a bit noisy in the evening as a lot of people enjoy the happy hours. The restaurant is brightly lit with high ceilings. The staff are attentive and courteous. We... More

10 of us gathered here in the early evening after our meeting at nearby Civic Center concluded. Do not miss out on the guacamole, made to order! Drinks were good--though not cheap. Unfortunately, on the VERY hot day were there, the airconditioner was barely working--we stayed and had fun, but it was NOT comfortable! However, the staff were great and... More

We had a great lunch experience at Rosa Mexicanos. As we walked in we knew it was going to be a good meal as there were the most amazing smells permeating the room. It was a bright airy room with high ceilings and a cool atmosphere for a very hot July.We started with tableside guacamole that was very flavorful and followed... More

Lunch at this Mexican restaurant in NYC is a comfortable experience. Start with a Sangria or a Margarita. The Guacamole is made in front of you with ingredients you like put in. The enchiladas are filling. Not very expensive big and of course calling in for a reservation helps. Food is great.

Worst experience. Stay away is all I can say. We went there on a hot day in NYC looking forward to a frozen drink. When we arrived, it immediately felt hot- inside the restaurant itself. We asked the hostess "Is there air-conditioning?" The hostess told us that the AC was "better in the back". So , we trusted her and... More

Go for the guacamole alone! Done at the table it's really tasty. Fish and prawn tacos were good, not great. I did really like the corn side that came with them though.

Decided on a upscale sit-down meal for our last evening in New York after a week of pizza slices, burgers and deli food. Sadly we were let down by Rosa Mexicano. The empanadas were bland, the enchiladas equally so. The little flavour the food did have was confused. We have honestly eaten better Mexican food at chain restaurants in the... More

Just blocks away from Manhattan's lively Union Square, our third New York location provides a warm and vibrant setting for our award-winning authentic Mexican cuisine. Designed by David Rockwell and launched in October 2005, this stunning restaurant features architectural accents inspired by the late, famed Mexican architect, Luis Barragan. The internally illuminated electric-blue tiled water wall features cliff diver figurines and candles among the cascading water to separate the bar from the main dining room. Warm terracotta and yellow colors with hot pink accents are featured throughout the restaurant as well as traditional, one-of-a-kind Mexican crafts, fabrics and artwork. This combination creates the perfect backdrop for the festive atmosphere and innovative Mexican cuisine of Rosa Mexicano.

Staying in Flatiron District

Neighborhood Profile
Flatiron District
Offering many of the city’s best restaurants and shops set amid classic New York architecture, the Flatiron District is no longer under the tourist radar. At 23rd Street is the famous triangular Flatiron Building, which makes a good picture no matter what angle you photograph it from. Be sure to look up at the elegant architecture as you stroll the streets - much of this neighborhood is part of a historic district that was home to many of the city’s most famous department stores at the turn of the century. At the northern end of the neighborhood, Madison Square Park is best known for being home to a famous burger shack, but it can also be a quiet refuge to spend an afternoon, and it frequently hosts interesting public art exhibits. In the lower part of the Flatiron District you'll find Union Square, a bustling crossroads at all times of day and night.
