As a native Italian, my standards be a little higher than average when it comes to Italian food, but this place was a terrible food experience. We ordered calamari and it was tasteless rubber. We ordered tagliatelle with mushrooms and parmesan sauce and it was a very poor dish with no flavour. Service was great (a friendly Italian waiter) but... More

Triestina...We are sorry you were unappreciative of the food. Unfortunately, it is hard to please 100% of the customers. As you know, there are many regions in Itaky with varying palates and customs. perhaps your customs and palates differ from the regions our family here at ALEO is from in Italy? Also, we apologize for the texture of the calamari,... More

Aleo was recommended to us by a local. We were in the neighborhood last Saturday evening and decided to go in just to have a cocktail at the bar. But the staff and service were so great, we decided to stay for dinner. The bartender (I think his name was Anthony), was so helpful and hospitable, and he gave us... More

Casuma...thank you so very much for the kind words. Yes, the person who served you was the manager, Anthony. He will be happy to hear you appreciated his service. He works (so) hard and puts his heart into the service he provides. Well, we are glad you liked ALEO, and hope to see you again soon. Next time in, please... More

We found a groupon for this place and decided to check it out. The interior is kinda dated and could do with a refresh but the food (what really matters at the end of the day) tasted great. I had the pumpkin ravioli which I would definitely recommend and the baked clams as well!

Andrea C...Thank you for your honest review.. The ambience has been thought to be changed a few times, and most of our regulars want it to stay as is. You are correct, as long as you liked the food that is what we strive for with our customers. Please stop in during the warmer months and dine al fresco in... More

I recently had dinner at ALEO with my wife and a couple of friends from out of town . The place is comfortable and you are always treated like family in this authentic Italian restaurant . I had the fish special and it was wonderful . My wife had a pasta dish that was exceptional . My friend's wife is... More

Justcare...Well, thank you so much for the kind words. It is (seriously) nice to hear such things from considerate people. We put a substantial amount of effort and time into the entire ALEO experience and sincerely appreciate words of care when we receive them. Yes, we do take pride in our award winning TIRA MISU. We were looking for the perfect place for a light dinner and dessert and just couldn't find anywhere to go. We were just trying to get off 6th street when we stumbled in and found it to be a diamond in the rough. Great dinner, great dessert. Don't go if you are a full blown fanny-pack tourist, try to be... We went because we had a Groupon and now we have a new restaurant on our repeat list. Prices were reasonable, food and service were excellent. Nice atmosphere, what else could you ask for?

Food was good. Prices fair. Service was not so good. There as a table of about 10 people. The waitress went to thst table and took one drink order at a time. Went and got a drink and came back and took another drink order. Instead of asking if anyone wanted another drink from the start. We ordered a bottle... More

I went there because I had a coupon which I needed to use. Both my godson and I were pleasantly surprised and enjoyed every minute of it. The Riesling I had was just right; I totally enjoyed the risotto with shrimp. My godson had the seafood pasta and it was wonderful. The service was good and friendly. The staff was... More

Upon arriving at Aleo we were greeted by maybe one of the friendliest waitress we have ever had. She had just moved to NYC from Italy awhile ago, but never got her name. Pretty good Italian. Friendly and competent service. We had the Rigatoni and the Chermoula Chicken, both quite good. Groupon wine by the glass is about what you'd expect. Drinkable, but just barely. N.B. - If you go during happy hour and spill the beans that you will be using a Groupon for dinner, they will not let you buy any... More

Staying in Flatiron District

Neighborhood Profile
Flatiron District
Offering many of the city’s best restaurants and shops set amid classic New York architecture, the Flatiron District is no longer under the tourist radar. At 23rd Street is the famous triangular Flatiron Building, which makes a good picture no matter what angle you photograph it from. Be sure to look up at the elegant architecture as you stroll the streets - much of this neighborhood is part of a historic district that was home to many of the city’s most famous department stores at the turn of the century. At the northern end of the neighborhood, Madison Square Park is best known for being home to a famous burger shack, but it can also be a quiet refuge to spend an afternoon, and it frequently hosts interesting public art exhibits. In the lower part of the Flatiron District you'll find Union Square, a bustling crossroads at all times of day and night.
