Walking around the neighborhood around Riverside Drive area in 181 and suddenly passed by one of my favorite Sushi places in the neighborhood! I just thought that it was perfect time for shrimp dumplings and my favorite dessert, the one I need to always go...back to Sushi Yu 2 for! Since many have being viewing the pictures I post from the different places I frequently visit, this is like a state of the art dessert: "Fry Green Tea Ice Cream", one that I would never get tired of eating at least once every other month! The small restaurant is friendly! Most of the visitors are known because they all range from various ages, they are every day lunch and dinner costumers from the neighborhood who are cordially and personally attended by the owner, who is pleased to welcome you in the place and to make sure you are enjoying your meals! The Sushi place is always packed, specially at lunch hours! I truly recommend the Variety of Bento Box for Lunch! I particularly go for the creative colorful Sushi Rolls!More

We have visited Sushi Yu II on many occasions, but Friday night's dinner was especially good. I normally order the sushi or sashimi, but with the spate of cold weather recently, i was in the mood for something warm and comforting. Their sukiyaki was the...best I've had outside of Japan -- full of tender beef, vegetables and cellophane noodles in a rich broth. My husband had his usual ton katsu (pork cutlet with rice and miso soup) and we shared an appetizer portion of the shumai (shrimp dumplings). The bill was extremely reasonable for the food and drinks (wine and hot sake) we consumed and the staff was very attentive. We'll definitely be back.More

Great sushi spot in the middle of restaurant row of 181 street. The next closest sushi is on 200 street so this is a great find before trekking up to the cloisters. Great lunch special till 330 even on saturdays. The rolls are generous and...can be easily shared. Try the bento box while there for lunch. Also does take out!!More

I haven't been here in a while but they serve average Japanese food and prices are reasonable, in keeping with the neighborhood. Wait staff seem in a rush to give one the bill and usher you on you way, however.

Sushi Yu II, like many of the restaurants in Washington Heights, is pretty small. However, you'll feel comfortable as soon as you walk in. The service is outstanding--they are hospitable and extremely attentive! The menu is extensive. I was impressed with both the amount of...sushi items and cooked items on the menu. The food quality is good, too, but it's not anything to write home about. However, for what you're paying, it's excellent. Great for a good Japanese culinary experience on a budget.More

The lunch special came with a salad, a miso soup, and a choice of california roll or shumai. I chose the latter. The miso soup was very delicious. The unagi was grilled to perfection. The lunch special was totally worth its value.

It's getting four stars because it's downtown quality in Washington Heights and that is something I can appreciate. My go to sushi spot in the heights.
