I love a good healthy meal and this was just spectacular! Service was a bit slow but the overall experience was great. I loved the macro plate and the environment of the whole place too. I will be back!

Wanted a vegan friendly restaurant en route to MOMA and various apps recommended Souen. It has a fairly unprepossessing entrance on the corner of 6th and Prince street, but once through the door there was a friendly welcome and wooden tables and chairs. The menu is largely vegan/vegetarian but with the option to add prawns to most things. No meat... More

Often find it hard to find good food in New York and after a couple of days of eating poorly, this was a great find. A good selection on the menu. I had their green Thai curry with shrimp, followed by a coconut water type mouse which were both excellent. There organic wine was very fresh and zingy. Even tried... More

This restaurants been around since 1974 that I know of. The food is delicious and mostly healthy. The portions are large the services utilitarian. Normally I don't like A place that's crowded and cramped but I put up with it here because of the food. We had grilled salmon, a salad with a tahini dressing, brown rice, Fried seitan with... More

SOUEN restaurant has been around for over than 40 years in Soho on 6 Avenue. It serves traditional Japanese food, wild fishes , vegetarian fares and microbiotic cuisine. The service is friendly and many local and superstars come to this superGreen restaurant for simple foods and organic ingredients and take a rest from traditional heavy cuisines restaurants with high octave... We often eat at Souen when in town, especially when downtown; we have dined at each of the three locations, although my favorite is the branch at the corner of Prince and 6th Ave, for it tends to be quiet, and the views out the windows are a great feast for the eye. The "macro plate" is one of the... More

Very casual atmosphere. Service slow. Food Mediocre. But the worst was that I ordered the Thai Vegetable Curry and asked to add wild black cod for an additional cost. I ate most of the dish when I realized there was no cod. But the owner/manager of the restaurant took my plate and pulled out a tiny piece of cod that... More

This is not a restaurant you come with a date who is a meat eater or as a last min. decision saying "let's try this place" while walking by. I personally love the food ( I was a vegetarian for 3 years) and find everything pretty fresh and tasty. But they serve some "hippy" coffee that you shouldn't order unless... More

My daughter is mostly vegan and I sometimes try to break my meat habit, so along with my husband we decided to try Souen on our most recent visit to NYC. We did appreciate how fresh and healthy the food was, but the flavor of most of the dishes we tried, while OK, was nothing special and would not entice... More
