Excellent service with friendly wait staff and onsite owners who are hands on. Food was great at a reasonable price. Worth a visit

One of our best meals in New York and reasonably priced. My mousaka was delicious, reasonably portioned and had a wonderfully creamy texture. The vegetable medleys were all fantastic. The place is small and quaint the service was attentive. Only downside....no cocktails & I was expecting a non-alcoholic import of some kind to round out the experience. But neither diminished... Surprisingly the octopus was better than in Greece. The fish was prepared perfectly. I recommend the zucchini with tzatziki too. The food was amazing. We sat at the big bar in the end of the restaurant next to each other which I much prefer than talking over the table. The service was excellent. My only surprise was that the did... More

Some of the best Greek food I have ever had in the U.S. Our table shared the saganaki, keftedakia, dolmathes and poikilia appetizers, which were all so well seasoned. Entrees included the lamb shank, lamp chops, chicken and bass, all of which were excellent. This restaurant seasons their food in such interesting and unusual ways. The service was very friendly... Firstly - MUST BOOK! We went on a Tuesday night at around 7.30pm for table for 2 and had 45 minute wait - not a problem as went for drink elsewhere while waited but would book in future. Service exemplary. Food amazing (had 3 cheese started and steak) and all cooked perfectly. Server picked appropriate wine for us as not... More

First , we must commend the excellent customer service. From the greeting to the food, this is wonderful late night dining. It was one of those nights where your not exactly sure what you feel like noshing on. So walking through the east village checking out the various menu's we took a chance on this Greek eatery. Well..... "jackpot". We... More

We were looking for a quiet restaurant with interesting food and a fairly sophisticated ambience, since it was an important birthday.I remembered Pylos, where I had a memorable meal a few years ago, and the new incarnation exceeded all our expectations. Loved the new location, with the profusion of Greek pottery suspended from the ceiling, cozy lighting, and YES, one... More

I have been coming to this restaurant since 2005. It is really one of the best restaurants in the East Village which is why it is still around after so many years, and still constantly full! This serves the most original Greek food I've had in NYC (including Astoria!). Everything is delicious. It is on the expensive side but it... More

Always come here when in NYC. Get the octopus, halumi, and Greek salad. That is really all you and one other person needs. And don't feel shy about exploring the Greek reds. Pares well with the food. Finally, the last time we were there, the restaurant was packed, and we opted to bypass our reserved table to sit at the... More

Staying in East Village

Neighborhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighborhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighborhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
