This is one of my favorite Greek restaurants in NY. The food is amazing. But I always enjoy it more at lunch than at dinner. it is too crowded at dinner and the waiters rush you. More mellow and enjoyable at lunch. Also, if you order a bottle of wine make sure you control the pouring yourself. The waiters must... More

2 people recommend us on this place so we went. We ordered for starters artichoke musaka which was amazing! After- we were waiting too much time for our calamari, and at the end got another dish by mistake. When the calamari finally arrived- it was great! And what about the main course? My salmon fish was good but the spinach... More

We were here recently and had a thoroughly enjoyable meal. I started with the artichoke heart moussaka, which was light and very flavorful, and my companions had nice salads. For the mains we had shrimp and scallops over noodles with a tomato-based sauce, the lamb shank special and the organic boned chicken, with raisins, rosemary and kasseri cheese. All were... More

This is one of my Go To places when I'm in NYC. It's always busy but they somehow always accommodate my last minute reservations. Delicious preperations of hearty greek fare in a hip, intimate setting. You'll be hard pressed to narrow down to just one or two dishes from the menu. Bring friends and then share plates!

One of our best meals in New York and reasonably priced. My mousaka was delicious, reasonably portioned and had a wonderfully creamy texture. The vegetable medleys were all fantastic. The place is small and quaint the service was attentive. Only downside....no cocktails & I was expecting a non-alcoholic import of some kind to round out the experience. But neither diminished... Surprisingly the octopus was better than in Greece. The fish was prepared perfectly. I recommend the zucchini with tzatziki too. The food was amazing. We sat at the big bar in the end of the restaurant next to each other which I much prefer than talking over the table. The service was excellent. My only surprise was that the did... More

Some of the best Greek food I have ever had in the U.S. Our table shared the saganaki, keftedakia, dolmathes and poikilia appetizers, which were all so well seasoned. Entrees included the lamb shank, lamp chops, chicken and bass, all of which were excellent. This restaurant seasons their food in such interesting and unusual ways. The service was very friendly... Staying in East Village

Neighborhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighborhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighborhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
