I have been coming to this restaurant since 2005. It is really one of the best restaurants in the East Village which is why it is still around after so many years, and still constantly full! This serves the most original Greek food I've had in NYC (including Astoria!). Everything is delicious. It is on the expensive side but it... More

Always come here when in NYC. Get the octopus, halumi, and Greek salad. That is really all you and one other person needs. And don't feel shy about exploring the Greek reds. Pares well with the food. Finally, the last time we were there, the restaurant was packed, and we opted to bypass our reserved table to sit at the... More

Love this place...my favorite Greek stop in NYC. Get the lamb chops! I dream about them! Delicious! We also had a glass of Greek red wine. I was not familiar with Greek wines so the waitress brought us two small tasters similar to a Chianti. It was such a nice gesture and we loved what they offered. Thank you Pylos... More

Visited my best friend that lives in NYC Went to eat at Pylos . We ordered several appetizers.. Delicious! The only thing was that they charged $20 for four small stuffed grape leaves. Great decor and atmosphere.

I thought to try some Greek food and after a long time I found a restaurant with good ambience . The Food was presentable and delicious. For Food I wil give 5 points but service was not that good. I had to wait for long time and waiter was little rude.

Excellent from wine to desserts! Authentic Greek food and staff very knowledgeable. Service was impeccable and well timed. I would have expected to pay much more. Only downside is location, but once inside you'll be glad you went...great decor and atmosphere!

We were passing by and were drawn into the neat setting and the unique name. It's great that one can enjoy such an authentic Greek experience in NYC. We ordered different things and were all happy with the dishes. You can even get greek beer. They close by 3 p.m.

We ate here before a show in the East Village and were very pleased. Having been in Greece last summer, we felt this place recreated authentic Greek cuisine. The service was excellent, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere divine! Highly recommended.

High quality Greek food, nice ambient and good service in the lively East Village! What's more?! Be sure to reserve in advance or you may have a long wait to get in. The dishes are delicious and well presented. I've been here several times and my favourite dishes are poikilia (three dipping asuce served with warm pita bread), moussaka (no... More

Staying in East Village

Neighborhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighborhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighborhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
