I've been to Mogador Cafe twice with my daughter and enjoyed it both times The food, service and atmosphere is good and worth a visit if you want a casual and tasty meal in the East Village. Try the appetiser platter, felafel and tagine.

We were doing the East Village on a really hot day this august and the Cafe Mogador was like an Oasis for us! In the heat we didn’t want too much so we ordered some humus and a Greek salad each. Perfect choice, fresh and tasty it really hit the spot Friendly staff and a nice cold beer, it was... More

This café has a branch in Williamsburg with a happening bar and excellent service. But the East Village location offers indifferent service, at least for patrons who may dine alone. The Moroccan fare was good, but a bit overpriced.

We wanted to have some couscous while staying in Manhattan, we read the review and it said it was the best couscous! So we went there, although the neighborhood is not very nice, the restaurant was even better than we expected, crowded yes, but actually one of the best couscous I've tried, and also were the tagine, the bastilla, and... The food at Mogador is delicious and the prices are okay, considering it's NYC. The one major downside was the wait - we waited so long for a table that half our party had to leave, so just two of us were seated in the end, after waiting almost an hour. If we'd known we would be waiting that long,... More

First try at Moroccan food and we loved it! Its a very small place, typical NYC style, not much lights inside in the evening, cozy, warm, very much crowded on a friday night. Going by the reviews, we took Lamb Tagine with chick peas and Basmati rice. It was extraordinarily delicious! The lamb shank was so tender and juicy. We... More

I was looking for a brunch place in the city that offered something a little different from the standard menu, and Mogador Cafe provided just that! I would recommend arriving by 10am if you are hoping to skip the line and score a table for a weekend brunch. In the summer, you may even be lucky enough to land a... More

I had a great dinner at Mogador. The salads we had were amazing and we experienced great service. The bill was very reasonable. I will go back on my next visit to NY. Thank you and à bientôt

It can get tiring eating in restaurants all of the time when you are traveling. I ordered salmon here and it was delicious with a simple home style feeling to it which I really appreciated. I was here with friends and everyone really enjoyed their meal.

The food is delicious and offers meals that are different than a typical breakfast restaurant. The pita bread is fresh and tasty. I love the Middle Eastern eggs meal, it combines various flavors that complement eachother perfectly. It's a healthy and satisfying meal. The downside is that the coffee has to be ordered separately, and its a small cup, no... More

Staying in East Village

Neighborhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighborhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighborhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
