Personal pies plus a salad are enough for the two of us. The tastes are front and center with fresh ingredients and herbs and tasty vinegars and oils. Always enjoy our dining here. The food is excellent, the service is friendly and attentive, and the ambiance is peaceful, at least in the late weekend afternoons when we tend to drop... More

Back again for Gruppo's wonderful thin crust pizza. Possibly the thinnest I've ever found. (And I spend a month in Sicily every year!) Great salads. Good service. Been several times. Keep going back.

Excellent pizza restaurant. Pizza doesn't get much better than this. Reasonable prices and generous portions. We had garlic bread as well and both the bread and pizza were great.

Very nice place and very nice pizza, with a thin crust, just how we like it! Great choice of pizza, you can also "create" your own so there should be something in for everyone!

Just after arriving to NYC someone pointed out this restaurant recommending their pizza. It was sooooo yummy and very generous quantity as well. The restaurant itself was very cozy, comfortable and with great service. We love the area.

I completely agree with one of the other reviewers that this place is under-rated. I have tried quite a few pizza places, and Gruppo is my favourite. They do thin and crispy pizzas to which I'm particularly partial. Toppings are delicious and suitably restrained. The restaurant itself is a nice place to dine in and has a welcoming atmosphere. We're so glad our son took us to Gruppo during our recent visit to NY. The thin crust pizza, salad, and garlic bread was fresh and delicious. The atmosphere is comfortable and friendly.

One of the best pizza places in New York City. The pizzas and salads are on point every time we are there. They don't take long because of the method of cooking. I cannot believe this place doesn't get more love and that you can walk in and get a table so easily. Highly recommended.

Staying in East Village

Neighborhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighborhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighborhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
