Brilliant Indian cuisine; very good service; a joy. Only one possible improvement: add a non-lager beer

My first visit to the restaurant in over 20 years. Service, menu, food outstanding. Must be the best Indian restaurant in NYC. A constant stream of attentive, unobtrusive servers. A memorable Sunday afternoon lunch.

It had won lots of awards up until about 2007 (they're on the wall when you go in), but the thing that attracted us was the delicious recipe book written by the restaurant's founder. The restaurant seems like somewhere that's trying a bit too hard...More

Food tastes good and service is excellent We tried onion pakoras and they were very closer what we get back in India. Mocktails can be better and are limited. Papads are very good and taste better than most other restaurants in NY. Veg Pillau, Dal...More

We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner here. The food was fresh, served quickly, and was delicious. My one complaint was that the bar menu was all vodka drinks.

Service was good. Food was average! The best part was the garlic naan. The restaurant could do with a renovation.

A bit pricier than many Indian restaurants in the city - and well worth it! From the mulligatawny soup to the naan to the whole chicken tandoori, it was a delight. As always. Highly recommend!

Well, I am back in NYC, and will spend a few days working. However, on my first evening, I returned to Dawat for good Tandoori fare. The Kingfisher beer was a welcome relief from the unusual heat, and, as always, the garlic naan was prepared...More

We tried Dawat for dinner recently because we were close by, and we both thought it was fantastic. I tried the lamb kofta masala, which was fun and different and super delicious, and hubby had the chicken tikka masala. We both preferred mine. We also...More
