This place is located on 51st ave. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, the service was promt. The butter chicken and the lamb korma were delicious! The naan bread is one of the best I have ever tasted.

The combo choices on the lunch menu are enormous, making it a perfect place to explore Indian cuisine, if you have not had it before. Which was the case with my friends. These days, I stick to the gluten-free diet, making it appropriate for me as well.

When we visit NYC, Indian is a must. We love Indian food and were pleased to find a TripAdvisor highly-rated Indian restaurant close to our hotel. We ate at Amma and were not disappointed. The service was outstanding and our server was very helpful to ensure that we understood the dishes and made recommendations. My wife had a chicken dish... More

We visited the restaurant this past weekend and have to say the food is really good. Everything we had was tasty. Also we were given starters on the house hwich we appreciated. The place as everyone mentioned is expensive in my opinion as well when you take into account the decor/ambiance. Also since if you are veg please note that... More

Average food, average portions for main course and very small.portion for dessert. Generally over priced. To add to this, our server (Jay) showed terrible attitude when we offered 10% gratuity instead of 18% which he demanded as his right. Never seen such behaviour from a fellow Indian. Spoilt the entire evening for us.

We were looking forward to eating at Amma, since it was recommended. We found it to be way too expensive for what we typically eat in another Indian Restaurant which is so much better than Amma. The Cauliflower was too spicy. The desert was tasteless. The drink was watered down. Check was over $100 dollars. for one appetizer, bread, vegetable,... More

It cost us $185 for the 4 of us and three glasses of wine. I truly thought it was not at all worth it. The chicken also seemed to be of not the highest quality. I would most definitely not recommend this place.

Lovely ambience. Every dish was wonderful. Also excellent service. The best Indian restaurant in NYC IMHO. The vegetable samosas? Best I ever had.

This was the second time I went back to 'Amma'. The 'mistake' I made the made the previous time was to let the person( a veteran diner at Amma) order. Although he did a decent job, it didn't let me pick what I'd have really liked( but well, he paid for the dinner. So, that was OK). This time, I... More

ordered family style - lamb, chicken, and chick pea. relied upon waiter's recommendation. Food was tasty and not too hot. Garlic bread is a must to accompany dinner with a nice bottle of Rosi

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
