$12.95 for the traditional northern Indian lunch. Good value, freshly prepared foods, but not exactly quick meal. I'll be back though. Lamb Korma was great, Nan were maybe the best ever.

Best Tiki Masala (Butter Chicken) I've ever had. Friendly staff, felt very comfortable dining alone. Food was fantastic - authentic but upscale. Small restaurant so a little warm but worth it!

Looked for a good Indian restaurant for a special family dinner while visiting NYC. Chose Amma as it is highly rated all through. Food was good (though not superb in our view) and service was neat. The place is however small and crowded and not having any notable design or atmosphere. Bottom line- nothing bad to say about the food... More

Wanted to try Amma due to the many positive reviews . Went there for lunch this past week. I did find the restaurant a little difficult to find. It is on the second level of a brownstone . Wait staff greeted me warmly and I was seated immediately. Restaurant is not large and the majority of the tables were filled.... More

We went based on a recommendation from our hotel concierge. Amma is a cozy and delicious restaurant. We ordered the Bombay Bhel Puri, a spicy coconut curry chicken and bhindi/okra. All were fantastic! I particularly enjoyed that there were options on the menu that were different from what is generally offered at an Indian restaurant. It allowed us to try... More

Amma's was recommended by the concierge at The Lotte New York Palace. It's a small restaurant with very attentive (maybe a little too attentive) service and excellent food. We had 3 different courses of soup, appetizers, main, and desert. Each was very good and not overwhelming.

Really enjoyed eating here during Restaurant Week, with fixed price 3 course menu. Excellent chicken tikka masala. A bit on the slow side for service. Quaint dining experience.

I was on a trip to NYC, St. Regis concierge recommended Amma as we asked for an Indian Resturant ..! We arrived in this tiny old place !! Thinking maybe we should leave!! Once we sit and ordered I can guarantee that it is one of top Indian food you can eat.. The spices they use are in a unique... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
