We had already been to Avra Madison. The ambiance and the service are excellent. The server was very attentive and knowledgeable. His recommendations were well received by the family. The pan fried Kefalograviera cheese, Saganaki Tiganito was truly exceptional. The Chilean Sea Bass Souvlaki was also very good. We the same three spreads we had tried at Avra Madison -... More

Avra is one of the best places for fish in New York City. Sure it's a Greek restaurant, but nothing is typical about it. Avra offers a selection of fresh fish with a super display of whole fish offerings on ice. Traditional greek appetizers and deserts should not be missed either. The Greek yogurt reminds me of pudding it's so... More

Came here to celebrate my 50th birthday with a friend and this place did not disappoint. It's a little on the pricey side but the food is well worth it. I had the branzino and it was honestly, the best fish I have ever had - very fresh and delicate tasting! The desserts were amazing as well. The restaurant itself... More

This restaurant is excellent for seafood - they have a table of fresh fish on ice when you walk in. They explain what the best seafood to share is - and you can do a fish by the pound for a few people, or the entire table. The fish is backed with some olive oil and lemon - very light... More

Despite a somewhat stuffy crowd of most people wearing business suits, the food is the main attraction and it is well worth it. While you will not find souvlaki on the menu, it is arguably the best selection of fresh Greek seafood one can find in NYC. Although the hostess was a bit aloof and seemed by the presence of... Definitely the best greek restaurant I have visited. The place is amazing and I want to go back in the summer for outside seating as well. Food was good, we all had fish and it was excellent, starters were good as well... but food wise I have had better.

The place is mostly dined by people in suit & tie. It was intimadating to go at first but I was surprised that the place is actually very open to everyone. I suggest that adults eat here only to enjoy the food and selection of wine. The place is so greek, the washroom is just traditional greek set up decor.... More

amazing atmosphere: classy and elegant yet not intimidating The fresh fish table is a testimony of the quality of the place. The service was amazing and if we need to criticize something,I would only mention that one line on the menu describing an Italian dish was misspelled !FOOD AMAZING

Greek food is one of my absolute favorites, and this place did not disappoint. I started with the Traditional Spread Pikilia, which is a three dip appetizer served with crispy and soft pita. You can choose your three dips - I chose tzatziki, htipiti, and skordalia. All three were amazing, the htipiti was my favorite, I've never had it before.... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
