Unlike Patsy's, this old fashioned Italian restaurant is carpeted and feels like you're in a house. Tables are well spaced and the room is quiet even when busy. Service is gracious, more like in the 50s, food is terrific. Funny, we've never been here before but as we mention it to New York friends, everyone else seems to know about... More

Food was excellent and service was impeccable EXCEPT for the hostess. On our arrival we were told to wait on our table to be ready, when i kindly enquired about the table the hostess was rude.

The food was absolutely fabulous and for the most part the service was superb. Our water started off great but got busy with larger groups and our 2 top got a little neglected. The rest of the staff was awesome though especially the manager that gave us added time and attention. The ambiance was very clean but very dated. I... More

Easily the best Italian restaurant I've eaten in in years. Wine list is extensive, antipasti are fresh and diverse. We had a lamb osso bucco which fell off the bone and was simply amazing. Service is perfect, attentive but not distracting. We came in the midst of a NYC heatwave, dressed casually and felt completely at home. Dessert was also... More

If you haven't visited Il Tinello when you're in NYC you're missing out. This seems to be a hidden gem to locals and a review I almost hate to post because I love being able to get a table without waiting months! This is old world style Italian. They are authentic and the ambience immediately makes you want to drink... More

Great traditional Italian food. Impeccable service. Much like a bistro in Italy. Our go to place in midtown.

Convenient location, nice setting, pampered service, good wine selection. Desert was good but not to my taste. If in NYC have a meal and enjoy.

Il Tinello is one of the best restaurants we have tried in NYC, the service was outstanding, the food was far superior then many others we have tried and the value for the ambience, service and food was well worth it. I will definitely be back and you should add this restaurant to your list.

We had an absolutely lovely meal, fine old world service, quality well-prepared food, good pacing but the cost of specials were a license to steal (of course in NYC you don't ask) and wine prices embarrassing. Found a reasonable value Barolo for an ok price (many reds are 3-500/bttl) of 120, had a simple prosecco in rubbish glasses for 18... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
