Pleasant young French speaking staff. The prix fixe dinner was just fine. There were many choices for both appetizer and entrée. My chicken with mushrooms was prepared just right. My husband had the pasta with scallops and shrimp and enjoyed it as well. He also savored the chocolate mouse dessert. We haven't been here in a long while, but will... More

The idea is better than the experience. The food was well prepared but the choices and the decor have not changed in 30 years! It is more traditional than anything I have seen in France and needs an update.

Nice place, quiet, a bit hidden, simple food but very good, fries are excellent, wine list is not bad, a perfect place for a lunch!

This old-fashioned bistro has been around a long time and always is worth a visit. We had excellent saussison, salad, calf's liver, moules frites. The service was a bit distracted and it can get noisy (it's small). Like most NYC restaurants wine prices are overboard. It's not a place you feel you have to hurry back to, but it is... More

We were two couples on Mother's Day for brunch. We called for reservation but were not told that they served a fixed price menu. A bit of a shame because the menu was limited. The place is small but nice Bistrot like and the food reasonably good. We had salad, small filet mignon, and an omelet, all well prepared although... More

For many many years we have looked forward to our meals at this intimate restaurant and have brought visiting guests. We returned after a hiatus of several months to find the place spruced up a bit, looking cleaner and brighter. It seems that the owner's daughter has been brought in as part of management. She was there during an early... More

We went last night for an early (5:00 p.m.) dinner at La Boite en Bois. When we got there they couldn't find the reservation but as only one other table had diners, they said they would accommodate us. Unfortunately, several in our party were quite late, but my husband and I ordered wine and kept them updated. When every one... More

Sundays at 5 p.m. following a theater matinee is the ideal time for dinner in busy parts of Manhattan if you don't mind an occasional early dining experience. La Boite en Bois is an exceptionally good restaurant in the Lincoln Center area. Warm, cozy, and comfortable with an excellent and varied menu. It all began with a perfect vodka martini...thank... It's been the best place I've eaten in NYC. The food is amazing, the restaurant is so cozy and the service is just perfect. Close to Lincoln Center and to central park it's the best choice you can have if you are around. And if are not around...just go anyway.
