Four friends met for dinner so being able to talk in normal voices was important to us. We sat in a booth which was very comfortable. Our waiter was engaging. All the food each of us had was tasty and well prepared. We all had the fixed price menu. The other bonus for us was there was no background music.... More

My college friend and I went to Brasserie 8 1/2 for the French restaurant week special ($35 for three courses). We had the most wonderful time! Little did we know this lovely restaurant was tucked downstairs on 57th street - a welcomed retreat from the pace of 5th avenue. The restaurant itself is a lovely setting. We enjoyed the crab... I always eat at this resto when in NYC. It is gorgeous, the food is terrific, and the staff very accommodating. I was there 2 months ago and it did not disappoint. The food was elegant, well prepared, and beautifully presented as well as delicious and fresh. The crab cakes I had were just as good as in Maryland. The... More

We had reservations for 11:30 am for brunch but were late due to the rain and parade. I called and they said they would be happy to seat us anyway. The food was organized by type and they made fresh omelettes, crepes and had a carving station. Salads, fruit, pastries and seafood was all fresh. I loved the paella and... More

Had a business lunch and ordered the mussels which is rare as a main dish. I love mussels so I tried it. They serve over white wine or a red tomato sauce, I did the white wine. Strong garlic taste but over 30 mussels with each one cooked just right and easy access into pre opened shells. It also came... More

You would think during Fleet Week this restaurant which is just several blocks from the Intrepid would be on point. Not so. Have video of a crepe that was so hard it could not be cut with a steak knife. My steak and eggs were barely ok. Steak so thin it was well down before cooking and asked for medium... More

Sunday Brunch was great with wide assortment of foods, clean and upscale setting, fine service, and courteous staff. The only snag is that the dessert menu did not remotely resemble the one posted on their website and we all thought the dessert offerings at the restaurant were not of the variety advertised.

Chose this restaurant because of group size (7). Unfortunately one of our party was early and was given a seat in a lounge area - no one knew she was there until we called her cell to see if she was delayed. The restaurant should have know shown her to our table when we all arrived. Atmosphere is quiet, light... More

We hosted our family group of 60 this past Sunday for Mother's Day and had a wonderful experience. That's one day of the year that restaurant experiences can be very dicey. However, the manager, Ken Gordon, made sure things went flawlessly, especially when extra guests showed up (who hadn't planned on coming!). The service was excellent and the buffet, including... Great location by the Park in midtown. The space is cavernous but somehow doesn't really work. It was not busy on a Thursday lunchtime and there was a distinct lack of atmosphere. The food was ok, I had the sausages over lentils, small portion $25 was excessive I think. Service was ok, but won't be going back in a hurry.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
