We are five women who celebrate our birthdays together. Our last celebration took place at L'CIRQUE. So the bar was set very high. This restaurant is modern, set at the bottom of a circular staircase and in a room where conversation was easy. Beautiful modern paintings adorn the walls. We were all delighted that the setting was so relaxing AND... More

My wife and I had Sunday Brunch at this lovely restaurant on 8/14/16 and it was wonderful! Dana, our maitre d' and Sara, our server were both lovely and made us feel right at home. The restaurant is beautiful, spacious and located in mid-town not far from the theater district. The food was delicious from start to finish! And the... More

This restaurant welcomes you as you walk down a gentile spiral stair case into the cocktail bar area. The main dining area is well appointed and quiet which allowed us to have a conversation without saying " what" over & over. Sara , our server was knowledgable and cordial. I had the crab cakes app and the duck as my... More

We found this restaurant just walking by and it looked great. We made a reservation for the next evening. It happened to be restaurant week, and we were grateful. It made choosing from the menu much easier. We started with a glass of wine. The wine list by the glass was nice but many were expensive. The first course consisted... More

We have been several times and we enjoyed our visit this week. The food and service were wonderful. We entered at street level and descended a staircase into a bar area and reception. This restaurant is lovely. Our meals were excellent. We highly recommend this restaurant.

Great location close to central park and Carnegie hall, the food is good, but not great. It was better last time we were there. The prices are justified by the quality. There are much better alternatives within walking distance. It is also very difficult access for anyone with mobility issues. There is an elevator access, but it is difficult to... More

Four friends met for dinner so being able to talk in normal voices was important to us. We sat in a booth which was very comfortable. Our waiter was engaging. All the food each of us had was tasty and well prepared. We all had the fixed price menu. The other bonus for us was there was no background music.... More

My college friend and I went to Brasserie 8 1/2 for the French restaurant week special ($35 for three courses). We had the most wonderful time! Little did we know this lovely restaurant was tucked downstairs on 57th street - a welcomed retreat from the pace of 5th avenue. The restaurant itself is a lovely setting. We enjoyed the crab... I always eat at this resto when in NYC. It is gorgeous, the food is terrific, and the staff very accommodating. I was there 2 months ago and it did not disappoint. We had reservations for 11:30 am for brunch but were late due to the rain and parade. I called and they said they would be happy to seat us anyway. The food was organized by type and they made fresh omelettes, crepes and had a carving station. Salads, fruit, pastries and seafood was all fresh. I loved the paella and... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
