Quite a fancy place, very good hot Kosher meal and very nice service. A little difficult to find the entrance, but it worth the short delay.

I visited this restaurant recently with my wife in honor of her birthday. We had Tim as our waiter. Tim is a very kind and warm individual, showing great hospitality toward his guests. He was able to attentively address our questions regarding the menu thoroughly...and accommodate our meal according to our preferences. He was able to relate to us on a personal level by providing his own honest recommendations regarding the menu. Our meal turned out to be above and beyond our expectations. Everything was so tasty and enjoyable. My wife and I are highly impressed by his excellent demeanor and friendly personality. He would go out of his way to ask us how the food was throughout our meal, kindly providing us with any last minute touchups to the food's taste. With a pleasant smile on his face, he'd always make sure we were happy with everything. We highly endorse him and recommend him for all of Abigael's guests. Overall, we really enjoyed our meal at Abigael's and hope to come back again in the near future!More

Upon arrival for a business lunch, I was held up for almost 10 (!) minutes by the host, who was having a lengthy conversation with a potential guest. When I finally met my partner inside, we were let down by a server who was not...only unfriendly but also a complete amateur. Didn't know the ingredients of the food he was offering and came back from the kitchen with partial answers and an indifferent attitude. The Sea Bass was tasty but the whole experience, uninviting. Not what I had remembered from the past.More
We are so distressed to read of this unpleasant experience! We did try to figure out when your visit may have been, but were unable to do so, as it would have been an opportunity to review the proper protocol with the waiter. Your comments...More
We went recently with another couple who had never been. We all ordered steaks and each of us was very satisfied...the steaks were done just as we requested, they were tasty and the portion was huge. We took home the portion we couldn't eat and...had a second meal on the leftovers! Our waiter was fine and the place was not too noisy. As before it was pricey -- but it's a kosher restaurant so that is to be expected.More

This was a truly delicious meal. I'll grant you that the downstairs dining room could really use a fresh coat of paint, but ignoring that, the food was excellent. My husband does not keep kosher and even he was impressed. Our server was prompt and...attentive without making us feel rushed. I had the Carnivore's Delight which was truly a mountain of food and so tasty. I will be eating the leftovers for days. We had the brisket egg rolls for an appetizer which were amazing. Believe it or not, the most delicious thing I had was the tomato dipping sauce that came with our bread basket. I don't know what is was, but I could have eaten that all day! I have very fond memories of watching Jeff Nathan on PBS with my grandmother and this was such a treat to eat at his restautant!More
Thank you to your hubby! That’s always been one of the best compliments we could ever get… when a non-kosher guest is impressed with our food! We’re delighted that you enjoyed your meal and the service at Abigael’s. We recently upgraded the streetscape of the...More
One of my favorite kosher restaurants in Manhattan. They offer both sushi and "regular" entrees. Been going there for 10 years, never had a disappointing meal, lunch or dinner.More

Atmosphere in lower level felt like event space in the basement of an older Sheraton. Food was ok - menu is absurdly eclectic. Sushi was ok, beef vegetable soup had something hard and fibrous in it - like a husk. The Tuscan white bean soup...was better. Small portions. If you need Kosher, there are probably worse places to go but if you don’t, there are an infinite number of much better places. Our server was great and perfectly attentive.More
We were troubled to read the mediocre review of your recent visit with us. We usually get some really great comments about our food and varied menu. We’re a bi-level restaurant, with dining rooms at street and lower levels. The street level offers views of...More

Unfortunately, looks like this restaurant is on a decline. Visited 3 times in the past 6 months. The first time (on January) was great, however the other 2 visits were a continuing disappointment. Both (expensive!) steaks took too long to prepare and were dry and...too salty. The desserts (Apple Cobbler & Creme Brûlée) were nothing to write home about. I had much better ones, The service was rather basic and not too effective, especially for what's expected from such an expensive place.More

My wife and I went for dinner. The spicy salad was very good. For main courses, she had the Vietnamese chicken and I had the steak. She thought that hers was just OK, but my steak came with several globs of fat which was inedible....The place is well appointed and the service was attentive.More
