I loved our meal at Kum Gang San! The staff was extremely welcoming, the food was delicious (and I don't really know Korean food), and the room was serenely lovely. Definitely recommend!

Went here as a big group with some colleagues. One of my co-workers is married to a Korean and is well versed in their kitchen so he did the order and obviously we were going for the Korean BBQ. First we got a bunch of starters and then they lit up the bbq and we started to get different meat... More

Great Korean Food! But it's not "Americanized"...it will be authentic Korean which is awesome! Very cultural and educational in my opinion. There was even a middle school group visiting when my wife and I went for lunch, learning about Korean culture and cooking. There is also a restaurant in Flushing, NY.

Windows are papered over but there is no explanation posted. We went across the street to Kang Suh instead. They're ok but I prefer KGS -- hope they re-open.

We had a good meal at Kum Gang San. I am not familiar with Korean food so I can't vouch for the authenticity but the food was tasty. I was really busy and crowded so we were jammed in a corner very close to other patrons - not unique in New York I guess. We tried one of their combination... More

I've been to Korea a few times and this place was authentic Korean dining in every aspect; flavours, taste, serving sizes, and service. Unfortunately, service was not something to be admired. It was slow, rude and some of the staff couldn't speak English very well.

Climbing to the second floor takes you to another dining world. BBQ is well worth ordering - and you cook at your own table. but my favorite is the bibimbap...fresh and tasty - and crunchy rice at the end of your meal from the very hot container.

Very nice, very traditional variety of foods, atmosphere is delightful and servers are friendly and very attentive. PRices are a little on the high side so be prepared. But well worth it, because its not easy to find a good Korean restaurant in our hometown. Yumm can't wait to go back!!

It was my first time in the city and walking up towards 5th Avenue from Penn Station I stumbled across Korean town. Having previously lived in the Korean district of Osaka, I absolutely love Korean food so decided that that would be how I'd reward myself after a day's sightseeing. I was tempted by Kristalbelli, a Korean restaurant near the... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
