My wife and I had the grilled calamari appetizer that came with a lot of greens. She then had the lamb meatballs and I had the chicken stew. All were well prepared, well presented, and tasty. We even shared the Moroccan desert which was light...More

First visit to Barbes, which was recommended to us by the hotel we were staying in. The food was fantastic and the service was excellent. We chose to eat from the early evening pre-fix menu which despite being fairly small still had something for everyone....More

Met with friends from overseas who were visiting the City. Lovely Moroccan style restaurant and excellent staff. Quiet location and setting for an afternoon lunch. I had a Poisson Tagine that was excellent. The hummus and eggplant salad were spicy in the Moroccan flavored way....More

This is our second visit to Barbes. It is an intimate and cozy setting with helpful, attentive, yet unobtrusive a waitstaff. I had the Lamb tanginess and it came as expected. I differ from those other reviewers in describing it as bland or boring. I...More

Great experience from the moment we walked in. All four of us had delicious dishes. Authentic, exotic, affordable. Just the right amount of attentiveness from staff as we lingered on through the evening. Would definitely go back when we are back in NYC.

I love Barbes for its consistently good traditional dishes and its very friendly atmosphere. If you are looking for comfort food, in a comfortable place, very reasonably priced, you will add Barbes to your list of favorite spots.

Great food. Really liked the Tagines and stuffed Tomato! Service was good, a little wait even with reservation, but not bad at all. The restaurant is small, and therefore as expected was fairly loud. The owner/manager (not sure who he was but seemed like owner),...More
