The worst South Indian food I’ve ever had. I hail from Chennai and I can’t believe someone can get everything so fundamentally wrong!! The idlis were fat and hard! The sambar looked more like the consistency of rasam! The pongal tasted and felt like khichdi!...The chutney was terrible. And the sweet pongal looked like some watery moong dhal khichdi! This restaurant is a complete sham for anyone looking for authentic South Indian when in NYC! It’s terrible!! I just ordered from sarvanas yesterday evening and the food was so so fabulous!!! Wanted to try this restaurant as well, but I literally threw my whole order!!More

The menu is extensive so there is truly something for everyone and the food -- which is vegetarian -- is absolutely delicious.

What a find this restaurant is! Superb Southern Indian vegetarian cuisine. Spectacular handmade crunchy dosas that take you back to the most authentic of experiences to this great dish. We were a group of five and were fighting over the big portions of dosas that...we had to order more! The idli with its toppings of curry leaves and sesame is magic! We ordered a number of Sabzis and they were all delicious. They came with aromatic rice on the side. The service is homely and gracious. The owner even shared with us her handmade recipes and recommendations and showed the dosa stove and kitchen to one of our group members who was a chef. If you want REAL Indian food finally NYC has delivered with Pongal! Go go go!More

My wife and I, Covid-19 survivors, AND having gotten two Moderna shots, we now eat indoors, and the sanitary protocols here are first-rate -- but so is the food. Great appetizers and mains, and just what we were looking for. Glad to be eating inside...again, and having great food!More

I came here with friends based on a recommendation for a vegetarian Indian restaurant, and we were all happy with our meals. The medu vada and the pakoda are really good, as are all of the different dosai, the gobi masala, and the malai kofta....Our waiter was really friendly and made good suggestions as to what to order, as we were a bit lost in the big menu.More

Delicious flavors, substantial portions, quick service at a busy weekday lunch time. Seating is tight, but so are a lot of places in NYC. That's life. Service was cordial/reserved, but food was phenomenal. The husband and I wandered in here and ordered 2 lunch specials...($10.95 each) and it was plenty of food. Order any of the daily specials and you will be happy. I guarantee it.More

We ordered the Gujarati and Mumbai Thali for lunch. It took a while to get the order, so I believe they are partially making fresh food. The thali was tastefully arranged, and all the dishes were delicious. It was quite sumptuous, and I had to...leave one of the rice dishes untasted. It did leave us a bit bloated after the meal. Not sure if the quantity was too much, or if there was something added to the food to create that feeling. They do add a 15% gratuity to the bill, so don't be tricked into adding tips again. I do recommend this restaurant for lunch.More

This is one among the many Indian Veg restaurant's in Lexington avenue and have mouth watering Thali. The portions are of right size and one can have a sumptuous meal all cooked to perfection in true south indian style.

Our family of South Indians went to this restaurant because of our good memories of this place about 2 yrs ago. We travelled a long distance from another part of the city as we were craving for South Indian food. The place was clean &...there wasn’t anything to complain about ambience . We had a rude shock, however, when the food didn’t live upto our expectations at all . Meduvada tasted as though they were old ones recycled by refrying them . Masala dosas were large but tasteless. We remember both these items to be excellent on our previous time. Chutney tasted as though they came out of fridge. Previously , we didn’t mind the high prices because of the high quality . But quality wasn’t there to support high price being charged this time. The manager made repeated demands for payment by cash although price was close to $80. However , we insisted on card payments .More

I had the dosa here which was gluten-free as it should be, unlike at other places in the city where I found that they mixed a bit of wheat flour in the batter. The servers are knowledgeable about food allergens, so do let them know...about your allergies and they can suggest the options accordingly. My friend had the dahi vadas too and quite liked it.More

This is one of the rare restaurant where you will find only veg options. The ambiance is really good and resemble a typical South India style setup. The best thing about this restaurant is they start preparing the food only after the order. Therefore, sometimes...food comes late but the wait is worth of it. Moreover, you can always get the taste customized as per your choice like more spicy or less spicy. Highly recommend this place if you like Indian food.More

This place has great South Indian dosa. It is vegetarian, tasty. and clean. However the service is so poor that it outs a damp on my lovely culinary experience - every time. They do not take Amex, and when you offer another card they have...a minim (not advertised) of $15/ card. Come prepared :)More
