Our very first visit to one of NYC's lauded steak houses. Nicely situated close to Madison Square Garden, perfect for a pre-event dinner. You enter into a clubby, meat lover's sanctuary. Tightly spaced tables, yet a convivial atmosphere. Hopping bar. Very nominal corkage charge if you want to bring your own special bottling, which we did, only $20. Cocktails are... More

Came here based on recommendation of a friend and the great reviews. Was extremely disappointing. While the service was fine, $60 for a tasteless T-Bone. Never Again!

I had dinner here with a colleague on a Monday evening in May. We were able to walk in for an 8:00 dinner. The inside of the restaurant was vintage and made me feel like I was walking back in time. (I wish I knew more of the history of this place). Our server was friendly and though he took... More

NYC is full of excellent steakhouses — for us the combination of the food (the mutton chop never fails to thrill), the service and the ambiance, Keen's is our #1 spot (and my Grandfather's #1 spot back in his day). Old school, awesome and we look forward to being lifelong patrons. I am now craving the mutton...

As you may see in the other reviews, old place, nice decour. The meat is really good. I tried the specialty, the chops and it were the best I had. They suggest medium but I would suggest medium rare if you like it a little read. Good martini. Service ok. High end place for New Yorkers, not very Turísticos during... More

An excellent steakhouse in the centre of mid-town Manhattan. Two blocks from the Empire State Building. The service was really good both in flexibility (we turned up two hours early) and in friendliness. The team were very welcoming. The food was really good. A proper steakhouse. Decor was element, and understated. The ceiling pipes were very cool. It's not cheap... More

If you're looking for a huge steak, deliciously cooked and served nicely then this is a good place for you in mid town Manhattan. The decor is absolutely amazing. Hundreds of smokers pipes that belonged to customers from a century ago descend from the ceiling in the room upstairs and this completes the decor of this traditional steak house. During... More

The first time we wandered into this place by accident in t-shirts and shorts - but the waiters didn't judge us. Since then we've been back deliberately - quite simply this is the best place to eat steak in NYC. You will pay for it, but the quality of the food and service is exceptional. Hard to go past and... Description
Keens Steakhouse, a classic New York chophouse, was already famous for its steaks and chops at the turn of the century. Founded in 1885, Keens has 90,000 clay pipes that line the ceilings – pipes once smoked by customers after dinner. Today Keens legendary mutton chops and dry aged prime steaks are still without equal in the city.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
