My hubby and I have just enjoyed a gorgeous steak dinner in Keens. It was cooked to perfection and extremely tasty. Friendly and great atmosphere. Worth every penny to have a steak of this quality.

Since we were coming from out of town, we made reservations a few weeks ahead for Friday, September 16 at 8:00pm. When we arrived, we were directed to the 2nd floor (Lincoln room). The restaurant is deep in NY history. Clay pipes line the ceiling (over 90,000), memorabilia and photos along the walls, and the deep rich wood bring you... More

All other reviewers seem to have had a better experience here than me! Impressive surroundings, good service and extensive menu but having ordered a medium cooked ribeye, I was served two bright pink slices of beef surrounded by strips of glistening white fat. I reckon a good vet could have got it back on its feet! Quality meat I think... More

Top notch steakhouse. Excellent cuts of beef prepared just as ordered. We were massively overdressed. Weird since dinner for two can easily exceed $300. Service was good but not great. No complaints about the food. Desserts need an upgrade. Coffee we excellent.

We came to Keens upon our arrival into NYC and upon arrival I noticef it was such a warm and friendly atmosphere. The restaraunt feels like a true New York experience, busy but this excitement in the air with people waiting for their delicious dishes. A proper way to start your trip into NYC with some fantastic food choices. My... More

This place is busy and not for those who want to be pampered with overly obsequious wait staff. They are here to deliver the goods as professionals, not to make you like them. They are highly knowledgeable and competent and offer their services to get you a special meal that you will remember and use in the future as a... More

A great selection for an exceptional steakhouse in New York City. The atmosphere and meal are outstanding. We enjoyed viewing the pipes of the many past patrons and taking in the long history. Keens has a very good menu with a lot of diversity. The New York Sirloin (Strip) is dry aged and has a fantastic flavor and the Sea... More

In summary, Keens is a must for anyone willing to fork out for the steak of their life, in a historic, quaint chop house which has an old-worldly feel to it.

We had an amazing meal in this storied Steakhouse. The lobster bisque was heaven. Next was a classic Caesar Salad. Next was a steak so tender we didn't need a knife. Coffee and cream brûlée closed out our meal. Service was some of the best I've ever seen. Just a great job Keen's.

Dropped by for an early dinner without a reservation. Overall we couldn't fault the food which was tasty but expensive. We were really disappointed though by the generally condescending manner that waiting staff dealt with far eastern visitors who made up a significant element of the diners. All customers deserve to be treated with respect.

Description
Keens Steakhouse, a classic New York chophouse, was already famous for its steaks and chops at the turn of the century. Founded in 1885, Keens has 90,000 clay pipes that line the ceilings – pipes once smoked by customers after dinner. Today Keens legendary mutton chops and dry aged prime steaks are still without equal in the city.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
