Orso has evolved from a hot spot to one with very good food, warm service, and a friendly welcome. It iis frequented by a knowing clientele and the occasional reader of travel and food sites who don't get what makes it appealing. So the quiet conversation that transpires over good food is shattered when someone chomping on her salad shouts... More

Great little Italian restaurant close to the theaters. Delicious plates to share family style. The artichokes and fave bean salad were our table of six favorites. We also shared the margarita pizza, buffalo mozzarella and small portions of the pasta dishes.

We stumbled upon Orso our first night in the city. Fortunately they could seat us as their reservations were all after shows ended. It has a great energy - not noisy and the food not only has great presentation but tastes even better!

A very nice little place with great food and very nice staff. The quail was very good. Rigatoni was perfectly cooked. The pizza bread is a must and the side of greens and cannelini beans were off the hook delicious.

We love the pizza, the caprese salad, the risotto, the pasta, the fish. And it's fun to have an occasional celebrity sighting.

I dined on a Monday evening and have been told that this was a good choice. However, when the theatre goers vacate this restaurant, THAT is a good time every night and you should have no difficulty getting a table until they come back after the show. The food is expertly cooked and well presented. My Liver and bacon by... More

We selected this restaurant based on recommendations from the staff at a nearby B&B, our hotel for a 5 night visit of NYC. The service and the food were exceptional. My wife selected the roasted beets and pears starter while I chose the house salad; both were very good and very fresh. For the main course, my wife chose the... More

When going to an evening Broadway show, we love to have dinner after the show at Orso. In addition to the white bean spread for the bread(I could make an entire meal of this), the flatbreads are terrific! I also have enjoyed the pasta dishes as well as the lamb. It's also fun on occasion to see some of the... More

A charming, inviting Italian restaurant with full bar in the Theatre District is just the spot before an evening show. Starters: Butternut Squash Soup - lovely & hot w/pureed pear & ginger for a rich, flavorful mix; Trevisano Salad - Arugula greens w/sliced apples, grapes, goat cheese, toasted walnuts & lovely ginger vinaigrette was a favorite. Entree's: Mushroom & Asparagus... More

My gf is normally put off by the theater district but I'm glad I convinced her to give this gem a try. Perfectly seasoned and constructed thin crust pizza ; excellent beet & pear salad; and melt in your mouth gnocchi were highlights. The affogato with Nardini amaro was another treat. We also enjoyed the bread and accompanying bean based... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
