Even after two decades of visiting Times Square, classic restaurants remain hidden and unexplored, and when you’re lucky enough to come upon one of them, it’s a treat and a revelation. Case in point is the bastion of Barbetta, which has occupied its digs for 110 years. At that advanced age one might decide to rest on their laurels and... More

Nice location near Times Square and the theater district. Elegant atmosphere with great service. However, neither my wife nor I were impressed with the food. I had the Roasted Peppers appetizer and Chicken Paillard and my wife had the Roast Chicken In A Pomegranate Sauce. We had Orange Bittersweet Chocolate Mousse for dessert. We were both underwhelmed with the food,... More

I visit New York often and have eaten at most of the best places but Barbetta is truly a place that is unrivaled in terms of food, service and atomosphere. Here on business and dining alone, I was greeted and treated as if I was the only customer they had. I was the first to be seated in a lovely... More

Had lunch here yesterday. It has been years since I have eaten here & it is not the same. The food was OK. It used to be excellent. The service was not very professional either.

One of my all time favorite dining experiences! The food is wonderful, but it's the wait staff and atmosphere that makes a visit to Barbetta special. Our waiter, Marco, was fabulous and made us feel so special. I was with two friends for a pre-theater dinner and by the time we left, Marco seemed liked an old friend! If you... More

Enjoyed a couple of hours at Barbetta in the heart of the Theater District in NYC. Welcomed by Eduardo who promptly shared a couple of funny tales about celebrities who have frequented the restaurant. The fixed menu offered plenty of choice from appetizer to dessert, pleasantly presented and quite tasty as well. The staff was very attentive, though you started... More

I can't believe I've lived in NYC for abt 23yrs, even lived in the W40's for a bit and have never been to Barbetta. My parents came to the city to see a show & I joined them for a pre-theater dinner. Their show was on W45th so we decided to go to Restaurant Row. It was only 6pm and... More

This is fine dining in NYC on restaurant row at the theatre district. The restaurant has an old world style with white table clothes and linen napkins. Menu has something for everyone. There is sometimes a "special" menu including many traditional house favorites and a few new items. Today they offered 3 courses for a fixed price: appetizer, entry, and... More

The food here was excellent, elegant and rich. The gnocchi was like eating a cloud, the mushroom risotto was sinful and the scallops simply amazing. The greatest part of the evening was the service, simply amazing. Friendly, passionate, attentive, humorous, there aren't enough words to describe the service. The knowledge of the food and ability to describe what you were... More

Barbetta is a portal to another time (with delicious food). It's more than 100 years old and has stuck around with reason. The restaurant is gorgeous and spread over multiple brownstones and features a beautiful outdoor space and twinkling piano in the main dining room. The service was fantastic, and a little over-whelming. There seemed to be an army of... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
