The atmosphere is a little chi chi, or baroque, as if it were a fancy restaurant in the nineteenth century. The wine list is good. The food could be better, but it is still very good.

We had heard good things about this restaurant and we agree, as long as we focus on the food. The staff was friendly, but seemed to be overworked. Sometimes it was hard to obtain the attention of our server as quickly as we would like.

My family was in New York City last week and we had dinner here. It was fabulous! What a fun place. The staff was incredible. The food was excellent! And the ambiance was fantastic! We really enjoyed the entire experience and would recommend anyone visiting New York City to for sure have a meal here! Cheers!

It was 5:00 and we had play tickets for a 7:00 show. I should have been skeptical when they said they could seat us immediately when so many other restaurants on the same street were full. They would not allow me to keep my jacket even though it was cool inside the restaurant. I had to check it. We were... More

Lovely restaurant, great service, one of the best meals I have ever had - and I've eaten in many places all round the world. Our maitre D, Eduardo, was superb, great guy, made some good recommendations from the menu. Wine was great too. Not cheap but worth every dime. Thank you, Barbetta, you created an amazing memory for us.

What I really loved about Barbetta (other than the amazing food) was the service. Our waiter asked what time our show was and made sure we were on schedule. Be sure to save room for dessert!

We dined here in Christmas Eve this year. I always enjoy Italian food and we recently visited Italy so I was really looking forward to such an old establishment that was etched into the history of NY. The atmosphere of the restaurant was phenomenal. I literally felt like I was back in Naples eating dinner. The food just seemed a... More

First, Barbetta is an institution. It has been run by two members of the same family since 1906 (the founding father, followed by his daughter since 1962). BTW, the current owner is married to a Nobel Prize winning doctor and she hosts many dignitaries at her restaurant (see web site). The owner's socialite status and the restaurant tradition rubs off... More

My husband and I ate Christmas Eve dinner here and it was delightful! The food and service exceeded our expectations. And the atmosphere was perfect for a romantic evening. We highly recommend Barbetta!

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
