Thanks God it is open on the lively Restaurant Row. Fabulous traditional French farea Parisian would approve of. They now have delightful tables along the street under canopies. You can never go wrong here. That's why I always go back.

We have been to Le Rivage several times over the years and were once again pleased that not only did we have an excellent before-theatre meal, but the food, service and preparation were all excellent. Everyone around us was enjoying their meal as much as...we were enjoying ours.More

Merci beaucoup. In light of everything that’s happening this is even more heart felt.
Proximity to our Broadway show made this our choice for French dining. We chose the Prix Fixe and it was an average meal at a good price point; Moules Farcies (first time for breadcrumb coated mussels), potato soup, boeuf Bourguignon, Truite Amandine, chocolate mousse, and...creme caramel. Server was helpful. Setting is pleasant; tables well placed and conversation is possible. There is a no coat on chair back rule.More
I thought the service was wonderful. The food, not so much. The plate my food was served on was searing hot, my chicken, not even lukewarm. The soup was also cold relatively quickly upon it being served to me. All in all, I would likely...not want to try this restaurant again. I've been to other French restaurants in New York City, and this is very mediocre compared to them.More
We came in because they had bone marrow and sweetbreads, a couple of our favorite dishes. I cannot stress enough how awful the food was. Multiple staff members (not our waiter) asked how the food was, we told them it wasn’t good, and they didn’t...respond at all. Our waiter didn’t speak great english so there was a fair amount of miscommunication during the ordering process and he couldn’t answer questions which was frustrating.
We were so sad that we spent so much money and calories at this place and don’t want that to happen to anyone else.More

I am very sorry for your experience, this is quite surprising that you found these two dishes unappetizing. They are actually some of our most sold specialties, renowned recipes for close to 85 years unchanged. As for the waiter I’m sorry that he did not...More
Arrived just a few minutes before our 7:15 pm reservation on a Friday night, and we were seated in about 5 to 10 minutes. Restaurant started to empty out soon thereafter as patrons were leaving to make their 8 pm theater curtain call.
Service and...food were excellent all around. Don't really know how authentic the food was, but our family of 5 enjoyed our selection from the set menu of escargots, caesar salad, duck a la orange, beef burgundy, seafood crepe, creme brulee, apple tart and chocolate lava cake. All super delicious!More
My wife and I are not French food experts.
I cannot, therefore, indulge in any culinary nuances or subtleties of flavor. I can only say I loved their food and the wait staff (Hernandez) was great. We will be back.
I don't understand all the so so reviews that this restaurant has received lately. I wonder if these people have eaten at the same restaurant we did. The service is great. Even though we only come here about twice a year, the staff knows us...by name. The service is attentive but not intruding. The food is fantastic. My wife had the duck, yes, which has a $10 surcharge, but was delicious. I had the boeuf bourguignon, which was also great.
I am a very critical reviewer, but I heavily recommend this restaurant and can't wait to come back.More
The $45 prix fixe is a great value. There are many choices for appetizer, entree & dessert and the quality is excellent. The daily specials are included. We went on a Monday and the Moules (mussels) Marinieres were available as an appetizer or entree and...were outstanding. The escargot aromas and presentation are excellent as they are served in the shell. The french onion soup burger is extremely savory. The flavors in the beef bourguinon gravy are amazing and the beef is fork tender (although the steamed carrots on top had no seasoning and lacked flavor). The belgian waffle with black cherries and vanilla ice cream was an awesome way to finish the meal.More

We've been to Le Rivage many times, always pre-theatre. And we order from the prix fixe menu, which has always been excellent. Is it the fanciest meal in NYC? Not by a long shot. But always very good...always good value for money...and always has something both of us want. Wine list is reasonable as well. In short, Le Rivage is a definite winner.
