We went after seeing the restaurant included in Eater’s “18 Pasta Destinations in NYC”. The menu included some enticing seafood pasta and we were looking forward to getting a delicious pasta. Well, it was mediocre and nothing fabulous. I cannot even remember the details of...More

Avoid it....hour and a half and can't get the main course. The MANAGER just kicked us out telling us "get the f*ck out of my restaurant or I'll call the police" because we complained about the time it tooked for the food to be served....More

The restaurant manager was extremely rude, disrespectful and kicked us out of “his restaurant “ . The service was terrible and everything was extremely slow. We had been waiting our food for over an hour and when we talked to the manager about it he...More

I've returned to Esca year after year during the semi-annual NYC Restaurant Week promotion, ordered the bargain 3-course lunch, and never felt that I was treated any differently than customers who ordered a la carte and spent twice as much. This week, I walked into...More

Something about this restaurant misses the mark. The staff is present and service is good but seems rote and impersonal. The food is also good but not as special as it should be based on the price.

Avoid this pre-theater trap. We went after the theater rush but the underlying vibe was terrible. The waitstaff is so unhappy that they don’t even pretend to care. While giving us the introductory welcome speech and telling us the specials, our waitress walked away from...More

We don't know what we ate but it was delicious. This is an Italian seafood restaurant. The waiter went over the menu with us and frankly, we didn't really know too much from the description he provided. It wasn't a bad description but so much...More

It reminded both of us of our experience while eating out in Italy though it was very pricey at Esca. The food was wonderful and as in Italy the service is at a snails pace. We had a shared appetizer two entries and two drinks...More

Do not go to Esca. We had a 6:15 PM reservation (pre-theater) for two couples last night. The restaurant never actually seated us even as the clock was getting closer to 7 PM. They kept insisting that another party was sitting at our table, but could...More

Very nice. Very pretensious. Delicious gnocchi, fabulous grilled octopus, although some of it was tough. The fritto misto was perfect. My wife's salad had too much black pepper. The desserts were delectable. Service attentive but arrogant. I guess we don't exhude money.
