The waitstaff couldn't have been nicer or more attentive. The highlight was an outrageously good white bean on bruschetta, compliments of the chef which was indeed a compliment. The rest of it was what one might find in a neighborhood pizzeria. Average zuppa de pesce, baked clams with a dried out, overdone topping, a side order of green beans that... More

This is another restaurant for Broadway lovers, located in Midtown New York, in the theater distric. We had dinner here on a weekday. We chose to seat outside, in the nearby patio. The service was good and the food was also fine We had the squid ink black spaghetti, the Amalfi style pasta with Alaskan salmon, and a selection of... More

First of all, I really enjoyed the ambiance of the room. It was well spaced out and did not have a crowded feeling, like so many New York restaurants. I have a shellfish allergy, which we communicated when we reserved our table, and they were extremely helpful and sensitive about that. Our server was a wonderful woman who was really... More

This was our first visit to Esca and we picked it because we are fans of Mario Batali and we love seafood. We picked the Crudo Flights for the first course and it was excellent! For the main course we picked the lobster spaghetti and the clam pasta. Both were wonderful! It is close to the theaters if you want... More

The fish and wine were excellent! Sat on small outdoor terrace area. Well looked after and the Irish manager was great fun! Very accommodating with the 3 children. Worth a visit!

We stopped for a drink as the show we were seeing is across the street. We were familiar with the name from Lidia and her sons as well as Mario Batalli. We were very impressed with the decor and the quality of the workers. Everyone was very pleasant , professional and very accommodating. A special note for Patricia our bartender... More

I selected Esca for a business dinner with several preferred clients. My original intent was to reserve a table for 12 people. After learning that the restaurant required a prix fixe menu, I opted to reserve a table for 8 people, which allowed for a la carte dining. The overall customer experience fell short, due to an apathetic, unmotivated staff,... More

Since I watch Mario Batalli on the Chew I was excited about eating in his restaurant. Our appetizer was the Tuna Carpaccio. I have never seen it served that way. It resembled a plate of jello. I enjoyed it but feel it was a little heavy with the sea salt. We shared the Branzini which was excellent. The sides were... More

Esca is an upscale seafood restaurant with a good menu and some intriguing selections. While there's some very expensive dishes we were able to find very reasonable selections including a pasta with a 1lb lobster at a bargain. The appetizers were also excellent. So while not a cheap meal, it is a very good meal. We also enjoyed the outdoor... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
