Wonderful Food - Service and Atmosphere a Bit Hectic

We had not been to Esca for a couple years and really enjoyed the food as always, but the advice we got from the server resulted in significantly too much food for two people, and certainly too much for the time we had before having to leave for the theater. As a result, we were rushed and the... read more

Amazing seafood. Simple but sophisticated plates, in Mario Batali´s tradition. Good selection of wines and original desserts.

Somewhat disappointing lunch. Fluke crudo appetizer was delicious but consisted of 2 tiny blocks of fish. Entree of cod was sort of deep fried on a bed of bitter greens which were mushy. Again 2 blocks of fish a little larger. Cannoli were crisp, very sweet shell and excellent. Not a meal, more a tasting.

I frequently visit NY and stay in this neighborhood. I thought I had tried all the nearby restaurants and was pleasantly surprised to find this one. How did I miss this? Italian restaurant, nice atmosphere and very good food. I started with the cheese and anchovy salad which was wonderful. My entree was the lobster and spaghetti - also very... More

We came here knowing it was a seafood restaurant and it didn't disappoint! I had the oysters to start and the sea urchin pasta as a main. They were both delicious! Especially as I've never tried sea urchin before. The staff were very attentive and went above and beyond by writing down a list of things to do whilst in... More

I arrived early and this is not a quiet restaurant, so I sat outside to await my friends' arrival on one of two patio chairs left out (probably for smokers) on their wintery patio three days after the blizzard. The patio would clearly be lovely in summer, but had charm even in the cold. The restaurant is old school, dark,... More

I could go on! The food was superb, with just right portions to leave happy but but overwhelmed. The service was simply attentive, without being smothering. The seafood pasta was wonderful...light and fresh. My dining companion had the lobster stuffed ravioli, and thought is pretty special. Really a fine place to share some good food with friends.

We just stumbled across it on New Year's evening and were lucky to get a table. I can see why opinions vary about this restaurant. It has very much it's own style, but it happened to suit us. The drinks looked expensive, until you realise that a glass of wine is 1/3 of a bottle comes in a little carafe.... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
