We went to Sardi’s because we thought being a Broadway institution, it would be an experience and a highlight of our visit. We were instead met with extremely unprofessional, tip hungry waiters. There were no pleasantries nor eye contact on arrival... like we just walked...in a hole-in-the-wall Chinese restaurant. The waiter threw the plates, utensils and menu in front of us and left. Napkins were not folded. The waiter could not explain what’s on the menu. To add insult to injury, they’ve forgotten some of our orders causing so much delays. It’s the most ridiculous tourist trap I’ve ever been to. I don’t usually score restaurants below 2 stars but this one’s an exception.More

I'm writing now in May 2020 amidst the Corona pandemic. Just remembered the visit with my wife to Sardi's end of November 2019 and it seems like a dream after the total stoppage of traveling or even going out. If I go again I may...go back to Sardi's but honestly I went there by pure coincidence and without any reservations. We were lucky as we randomly selected Sardi's and almost immediately got a table although it was a very full time. We had very short time between entering and going to one of the shows nearby. Atmosphere at Sardi's is different with tables very close by each other's and walls full of celebrities hand drawn pictures. I got a burger that was done properly but with very little addons as we usually get elsewhere. I'm not such a burger fan but menu wasn't my favorite since I am not used to many of the items such as raw meat and pork items that I don't eat. Anyway it is a nice memory now and I wish I can go again!! My wife just reminded me that they forgot to bring lettuce and tomatoes with the burger. They didn't seem so interested in making me feel happy with that being fixed!!More

A reviewer writes that this iconic place is "nothing special". Hmmmmmmmm. Perhaps he or she didn't look around the room at the history of Broadway. We were in town for meetings and chose this lovely place (and the smart-looking waiters) on our first night just...before a Broadway show (and a week before the Corona virus outbreak happened. What a difference a week makes.) We had terrific salmon and scallops. Looking forward to a future visit when the lights are back on on Broadway.More

We went for a family dinner. We had reserved a table via open table, and we were seated right away. The place is nice. We were served by a female waiter who clearly was unhappy with being on our table. She was making eye contacts...with other waiter every time we ask her for something. Finally, by the end of our meals, a male waiter came, and pack the rest of the food for us, and gave the check. Food was good but not that special.More

Seem to gather in the 2nd floor bar on weeknights after the curtain goes up in the area theaters. Interesting phenomenon, I’ll do some more investigating.

This well known restaurant in the theater district is simply wonderful. Yes it is expensive but the service and food is a ten. A great lunch selection and a full bar. Just a wonderful place to share a meal with friends. Reservations are a must.

It’s really disappointing to have to write a poor review, but Sardi’s did not live up to our expectations in any way. When I told our waiter I have a gluten allergy, I was told I should stick with lentil stew as a main course...as it was the safest. When I asked if I could have the chicken soup as a starter I was told I could but without rice because there’s butter on the rice. What??? My friend reiterated to the waiter that I have a gluten allergy, meaning I can’t have wheat, barley, rye... - it’s NOT a dairy allergy. The waiter was clearly confused about what gluten was, and it poor service to not simply admit that to us and offer to bring out a chef to speak with me. I got the chicken soup and the lentil stew, both of which I’m sure came from a can, as I can guarantee no kitchen dices carrots in perfect little cubes that tiny. My two friends (who do not have an dietary restrictions) ordered tomato soup as a starter and then one had chicken Parmesan as a main and the other got the crab sandwich. Both of them said the tomato soup was incredibly acidic and that they would’ve PREFERRED Campbell’s. The chicken parm with spaghetti and sauce on the side was described as “Prego with a side of Chef Boyardee.” The crab sandwich was “fine.” I’ve never been so disappointed in a restaurant that is supposed to be such a NYC landmark. For $40 per person I would’ve hoped for more than canned food. I will not be returning to Sardi’s.More

We came for dinner before a show (we had a reservation through the opentable app). We were seated promptly and our server was very warm and attentive. I ordered the chicken parmigiana (I don’t see it on the menu online, so maybe it was a...special that day). It was delicious and great comfort food on a cold day. It was fun to spot the portraits on the walls as we chatted. Great food and great service! Definitely worth visiting!More

We had such a fun and delicious lunch at Sardis before we went to see To Kill A Mockingbird.which is right across the street. Sardis is the epitome of Broadway with pictures on the wall of of all of the many Broadway performers. The staff...was nice and helpful.More
