Just back from an amazing meal at Ipanema. Service was excellent and food really good. I recommend the seared tuna and avocado!! Price was really reasonable for midtown Manhatten.

Dear Becky, 5* thank you! We are so thrilled that you had such a good experience. It's what we aim for every day :-) Our seared tuna and avocado is a fairly new addition to the menu and one of my favorites. Hope you will return again soon. Best, Judite More

The specials and seafood are probably the best bet for this restaurant. My friend had the octopus and risotto (it was a bit hard to find the asparagus in the risotto), while I had the chicken with the blueberry and mango sauce. It also came with potatoes, plus rice and beans which threw me off - no veggies. The taste... More

Dear quelinda2015, Thank you for taking the time to write us a review and for the 4*rating. Glad to hear that you found the taste of your dish "amazing". It seems that you and your friend were a bit more adventurous than most first-time diners of Brazilian cuisine. Bravo! Hope you return soon to try some of our appetizers and... More

What a great evening we had at Ipanema. Tremendous service (thank you, Gustavo!), delicious food, large portions - which means great value for the money, and be prepared to share or take home left-overs. The paelha was wonderful, shock full of shrimp and scallops and chicken, along with clams and mussels. An all round delightful experience.

Dear 05Debra, Love the paelha and so glad you did too! You had the traditional paelha which is my favorite but I have heard many people rave about the Squid Ink Paelha as well. Thank you for such a great review and we hope you will keep coming back to try many of our other dishes. Best, Judite More

My husband and I went to ipanema on Saturday night. We booked with no problem and whilst busy downstairs it was a little quieter upstairs where we were sat. The menu looked amazing and we struggled to decide what to eat as it all looked so tempting! Our waiter, Gustavo, was really helpful and recommended a few dishes. He was... More

Hubby and I were very happy we chose this restaurant to eat after a big day seeing the sites. We weren't overly hungry so we ordered a paella to share. It was beautiful. The seafood was tender and really yum. The service we could not fault, all staff were friendly and accommodating. Great little vibe but not knowing the area... More

When I think Brazilian food I often think of barbecued steak. They do steaks here too- the steak with crab meat and shrimp is delectable - but also fantastic seafood (the paella cooked in squid ink is phenomenal!)! Excellent beers on tap, banana fritters so good I nearly cried, pleasant service, a nice ambience, and a reasonable price. What more... More

Food choices were authentic Portuguese with a wide variety. Food was delicious and plentiful. Atmosphere and ambiance were warm and welcoming, and the service was also very good. Was a little surprised that the drink list wasn't more extensive, but what they had was really good. Can't wait to go back

I don't know what the hype is about. This place had average food at best. We ordered the paella and it was hard, undercooked and not flavourful. The other dish we got was better, but overall not worth the price

This place is amazingly busy! we lucked out & got a table by the bar. Great wine selection The sausage & Yucca plate was great & the hot sauce that comes with it I wish I could have bought a gallon to take home. Friendly staff. But make a reservation so you are not left out!!!

I'm a New Yorker and I was craving for a quick bite for Brazilian and this place can be a great go-to stop over but its mainly for tourists. they forgot an order for us. They didn't have my favorite Brazilian dessert. Their feijoada is tasty.

Description
In the heart of Little Brazil street is the famous Ipanema Restaurant, considered to be the best Brazilian restaurant in all of New York City. Ipanema offers a relaxed and contemporary atmosphere complemented by the authentic cuisine our chef has perfected over the past 30 years. While the name Ipanema refers to the famous beach in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil our menu is firmly rooted in the culinary crossover between both Brazil and Portugal. Ipanema's menu combines the timeless history of Portuguese recipes with the zest and vibrancy of Brazilian cuisine, resulting in a one-of-a-kind dining experience. At Ipanema you can immerse yourself in a true Brazilian-Portuguese experience with famous dishes including: Feijoada, Vatapá, Pão de Queijo, Bacalhau Assado, Bitoque Mariscada, and more.

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
