Recommended restaurant from my Hotel so the boys and i booked the table. Can i say that Main Courses are large - you have to have a large appetite or lose one of the courses. Quality of service and variety of food was excellent. We have eaten in restaurants in Rio De Janeiro and this is comparable.

First, do NOT order any appetizers. The entrees are huge and come with giant bowls of rice and beans. Service was very good. We had 3 meat entrees - all great except the Churrasco steak which was covered in cheese and shrimp. Damages were $170 including tip and an inexpensive wine.

Dined here, after pre booking, on a Saturday evening and enjoyed it. It's well located near the Rockerfeller and was reasonably well priced. It was very busy and we were seated upstairs where it was quite loud due to a large party nearby. Clean area and friendly staff made us feel welcome. I had a beef/mushroom special which was excellent... More

Arrived late at Hotel @ Times Sq a few doors down and rather than going blocks away gave this place a try. We had been here several years ago but not recently. Bottom line - fantastic! We shared a seafood stew and another pot of seafood with grilled salmon. Portions were large and reasonably priced. That along with an appetizer... More

I had dinner by myself. Welcomed with very friendly feel. Food was very tasty and authentic Brazilian. Price is very fair. Will return for sure.

I was looking for a restaurant with good food and a cozy atmosphere to enjoy by myself and read my book. I was a bit nervous that this place would not fit what I was looking for, but it was perfect! There were plenty of other solo diners and I felt very comfortable. The restaurant is very accessible off of... More

We were meeting up with our daughter who suggested we try it. She and the restaurant hit a home run. Everything seemed spot right on. The calamari appetizer consisted of perfectly fried calamari, tender and not greasy at all. The Bacalao and shrimp "croquets" were equally good. A side of collard greens was delectable ... thinly sliced collards, tender, yet... More

Perhaps it is what we ordered, but 3 out of the 4 in our group were disappointed in our meals. I had a dish with cod and it was very fishy tasting. My wife had the national dish of Brazil, which was meat with black beans and rice. It just did not have much taste. I had hoped for better.

Ipanema is an absolutely brilliant find. Excellent location, just off 6th street near the Rockefeller, it's a really nice restaurant with delicious food at really reasonable prices. The servers are really attentive and the food came out really quickly. Would definitely recommend for cheap tasty food in NYC.

Description
In the heart of Little Brazil street is the famous Ipanema Restaurant, considered to be the best Brazilian restaurant in all of New York City. Ipanema offers a relaxed and contemporary atmosphere complemented by the authentic cuisine our chef has perfected over the past 30 years. While the name Ipanema refers to the famous beach in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil our menu is firmly rooted in the culinary crossover between both Brazil and Portugal. Ipanema's menu combines the timeless history of Portuguese recipes with the zest and vibrancy of Brazilian cuisine, resulting in a one-of-a-kind dining experience. At Ipanema you can immerse yourself in a true Brazilian-Portuguese experience with famous dishes including: Feijoada, Vatapá, Pão de Queijo, Bacalhau Assado, Bitoque Mariscada, and more.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
