When I think Brazilian food I often think of barbecued steak. They do steaks here too- the steak with crab meat and shrimp is delectable - but also fantastic seafood (the paella cooked in squid ink is phenomenal!)! Excellent beers on tap, banana fritters so good I nearly cried, pleasant service, a nice ambience, and a reasonable price. What more... More

Food choices were authentic Portuguese with a wide variety. Food was delicious and plentiful. Atmosphere and ambiance were warm and welcoming, and the service was also very good. Was a little surprised that the drink list wasn't more extensive, but what they had was really good. Can't wait to go back

I don't know what the hype is about. This place had average food at best. We ordered the paella and it was hard, undercooked and not flavourful. The other dish we got was better, but overall not worth the price

This place is amazingly busy! we lucked out & got a table by the bar. Great wine selection The sausage & Yucca plate was great & the hot sauce that comes with it I wish I could have bought a gallon to take home. Friendly staff. But make a reservation so you are not left out!!!

I'm a New Yorker and I was craving for a quick bite for Brazilian and this place can be a great go-to stop over but its mainly for tourists. they forgot an order for us. They didn't have my favorite Brazilian dessert. Their feijoada is tasty.

We were on the first day on the trip traveling the east side of U.S. We ordered 2 dishes, one was a black been & rice, the other was a calamari dish. We enjoyed all of the dishes and we would definitely go there again.

We planned to taste some Brazilian food and Ipanema was worth a try. Very nice restaurant close to Times Square. It looks small from outside but once you step in, its big and also has a very nice warm vibe. The decor was cozy. Staff were friendly. We ordered their national dish, Feijoada Completa and Picanha. The portions were really large.... More

Ipanema has great location, updated decor and good food. I'd they made some adjusted this could be an excellent choice for Brazilian cuisine. The Mariacada--basically an assorted shellfish soup is a huge granite bowl. The fish is properly cooked and not over done. But the soup lacked amazing flavor and was somewhat average in flavor though it had plenty of... More

Description
In the heart of Little Brazil street is the famous Ipanema Restaurant, considered to be the best Brazilian restaurant in all of New York City. Ipanema offers a relaxed and contemporary atmosphere complemented by the authentic cuisine our chef has perfected over the past 30 years. While the name Ipanema refers to the famous beach in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil our menu is firmly rooted in the culinary crossover between both Brazil and Portugal. Ipanema's menu combines the timeless history of Portuguese recipes with the zest and vibrancy of Brazilian cuisine, resulting in a one-of-a-kind dining experience. At Ipanema you can immerse yourself in a true Brazilian-Portuguese experience with famous dishes including: Feijoada, Vatapá, Pão de Queijo, Bacalhau Assado, Bitoque Mariscada, and more.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
