We walked Canal Street, studied menus, looked at the plates of food on the outside cafe tables, and selected II Cortile. What a wonderful decision! Our server, Freddy, was friendly and welcoming, patient and answered every single question we had. The kitchen accommodated my husband's special request. The baked clams, fresh mozzarella and tomatoes, and calamari were perfection. The veal... More

Walking around in little Italy looking for a place to eat lunch, my friends and I stumbled onto this place and it was the best meal I had during my stay in NYC. It was that good. The food was fresh, pure Italian. Try the linguine with clams and the ravioli. I typically do not order ravioli because I am... More

This time we were celebrating a birthday. However, the service and quality were no different. As usual and for the last 30 years we have been going - awesome! They are very flexible about sharing courses. We had 3 Caesars across the 8 of us. Our gluten free friend was thrilled with the seafood risotto. The wine list is extensive... More

Visiting Little Italy was high on my agenda when visiting New York, and thus I put some research into which restaurant I chose. This one jumped out at me from the very beginning and it did not disappoint when we arrived. We arrived a little early for our reservation but that was not a problem and we were immediately seated... It is hard to compare this to other restaurants on Mulberry street because this is the only Italian restaurant we went to on this visit. I ordered the salmon and escarole which was good although the salmon seemed to be a little overdone. The chicken marsala and chicken parm looked tasty and hubby ordered the pasta dish which he enjoyed.... More

Walking around little Italy, having eveyone call you over to eat at their Rests, is annoying, but my husband did research and found this one , well it was expensive and not all that good, I don't mind paying I'm in NY I know that, but the seafood dish had minimal stuff, looked behind me just turned my head and... There are so many restaurants in Little Italy to choose from, it can be hard to decide. I have been to a few of them and this one is by far the best. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and wanted something special but not too pricey. We found this one to be perfect. Beautifully decorated with an open indoor... More

Service from the greeting to the departure was outstanding. We felt welcome and special throughout. The apps were great, burrata with pear and zucchini frittes were excellent. The linguini with white clam sauce is a definite skip, clams are not fresh and are chewy. Had home made ravioli which was OK, but not great. Mulberry street atmosphere is wonderful, book... More

Staying in Little Italy

Neighborhood Profile
Little Italy
While Little Italy is one of the city's smallest neighbourhoods, its streets are packed with visitors from around the globe, especially on summer weekends when the streets are closed to traffic. Stroll up Mulberry Street, the heart of Little Italy, for a dense mix of Italian restaurants with sidewalk tables, cafes, and old-school food shops. Don’t be surprised when the hosts beckon you to pay them a visit. Stop in for a coffee and a cannoli, or grab a streetside table to take in the scenery over a hearty Italian meal.
