This place is so good for lunch, just go there, it's food is simple but the way it is executed is astounding, must try the flatbread, bratwurst is stunning too all washed down with cookies and milk... Oh so still good!

This is a really great restaurant. The food was utterly delicious and really well thought through. Interesting menu and high quality wine list. Lovely atmosphere. Would definitely come back, but you have to book in advance.

Great food, great service, great atmosphere. Went for lunch and had the lamb and tomato bisque. Excellent. Reputation is deserved.

Danny Meyer is a genius and Gramercy Tavern is a great byproduct of that genius. Excellent food, beautiful setting and fabulous service. I met one of my best friends there for dinner and we had a lovely evening of well-made martinis and Michelin star food. Well worth the price. thank you, Mr. Meyer!

Of course a bit of a wait but definitely worth it. Staff were very apologetic about wait (which was appreciated but not necessary, we knew it would be good). Great atmosphere and food was delicious...we opted for bar as we preferred that idea (as others have noted). We saved it for our last night in NYC, just wish we had... More

We did a 3 days trip to NYC. As we were only there for a short amount of time, we had to pick our places to eat strategically. One of our choice was Gramercy Tavern for our Monday dinner. This restaurant was highly recommended. We knew we couldn't make a reservation as it is a first come first serve system.... More

Gramercy Tavern has it all. Amazing food, a beautiful room and an exceptional wait staff that makes sure all your dining needs are met. I recommend the seasonal tasting menu where each dish combines the different flavors of foods to create something greater than the whole. We like the elegance of the dining room; it's lively yet quiet and a... More

This is one of our favorites world wide. Lot's of history here, old fashioned style bar with "CLASS" everywhere you look. It says a lot about the food too including its perparation. We ate at the bar this time and were not dissapointed. We started with Manhattans - of course made perfectly. I had the Lamb which was so tasty... More

Gramercy tavern has a reputation of excellent food. We had lunch here (not in the fancy part of the restaurant). The food, slices of lamb on toasted bread with a small salad, was nice, but nothing to write home about. Dessert and coffee also nice, but again nothing spectacular. Service excellent!

My wife and I celebrated our recent anniversary at the Gramercy Tavern. Be warned that, as you can see from the reviews, it's a very popular choice amongst locals and visitors. As a result, one learning is get your reservation very early. We actually had a family friend use her connections with someone who knew the owner to get us... More

One of America’s most beloved restaurants, Gramercy Tavern has welcomed guests for close to two decades to enjoy seasonal American cuisine, warm hospitality and unparalleled service. The restaurant is perennially ranked at the top of Zagat Survey’s ‘Most Popular’ list, and has garnered eight James Beard Awards including ‘Outstanding Restaurant’ and ‘Best Chef: NYC’. Chef Michael Anthony’s highly seasonal menu consists of elegant dishes with a rustic influence that showcase the restaurant’s relationships with local farms and purveyors. The Main Dining Room serves prix-fixe menus starting at $92 for dinner and an a la carte menu for lunch, and accepts reservations 28 days in advance. The more casual Tavern serves an a la carte menu centered around the wood burning grill, and welcomes guests on a walk-in basis. The restaurant also features an acclaimed wine list, and thoughtfully selected beer and cocktail offerings.

Staying in Flatiron District

Neighborhood Profile
Flatiron District
Offering many of the city’s best restaurants and shops set amid classic New York architecture, the Flatiron District is no longer under the tourist radar. At 23rd Street is the famous triangular Flatiron Building, which makes a good picture no matter what angle you photograph it from. Be sure to look up at the elegant architecture as you stroll the streets - much of this neighborhood is part of a historic district that was home to many of the city’s most famous department stores at the turn of the century. At the northern end of the neighborhood, Madison Square Park is best known for being home to a famous burger shack, but it can also be a quiet refuge to spend an afternoon, and it frequently hosts interesting public art exhibits. In the lower part of the Flatiron District you'll find Union Square, a bustling crossroads at all times of day and night.
