Gramercy tavern has a reputation of excellent food. We had lunch here (not in the fancy part of the restaurant). The food, slices of lamb on toasted bread with a small salad, was nice, but nothing to write home about. Dessert and coffee also nice, but again nothing spectacular. Service excellent!

My wife and I celebrated our recent anniversary at the Gramercy Tavern. Be warned that, as you can see from the reviews, it's a very popular choice amongst locals and visitors. As a result, one learning is get your reservation very early. We actually had a family friend use her connections with someone who knew the owner to get us... More

I try to come to GT when I am in town and it never has disappointed me over the years. Servers go out of their way to make you have a warm and memorable experience. Being a fan of the tavern area, I enjoy the energy of the bar and the front area of the restaurant. My grilled lamb with... More

We went for special occasion, and have been before. The room is beautiful and we were seated in back and a quiet table as requested. There are various options on the menu and husband being vegan chose the all vegetable tasting menu. Accommodations were made for him although he specificed no hard cheese with animal rennet and they did serve... More

The Arctic Char appetizer dish which is comprised of both cured and smoked varieties, along with cucumbers and black rice is a wonderful and zesty medley. The tavern atmosphere is easy and casual and the dining area appears distinctive and refined. All accolades are well deserved. Highly recommend to anyone who appreciates fine wine and cuisine.

We visited the Gramercy Tavern on a Friday evening in August. We were told that there was a wait of 1 hour however this turned into an actual 2 hour wait. This would have been fine had the food been outstanding however we chose from the set menu and the main courses were both totally forgettable ! One was pork... More

We had the tasting menu for dinner with paired wines, both were excellent with great information from the knowledgeable and enthusiastic staff. Yes it's expensive, but the overall quality and attention to detail cannot be faulted.

When I was in NYC 2 years ago, I went to the Gramercy Tavern on a lark. Loved it. I was lucky enough to see Hamilton last Saturday. Afterwards, we headed over to Gramercy. The food! The service! The beautiful art on the walls! Once again, this is my favorite place in NYC. Whatever you order will be beautifully prepared.... More

We ate here for my husbands 50th birthday. We had the 6 course taster menu and a bottle of wine the bill was $453 for the two of us. Nice food, nice atmosphere. Staff very attentive. A special treat.

One of America’s most beloved restaurants, Gramercy Tavern has welcomed guests for close to two decades to enjoy seasonal American cuisine, warm hospitality and unparalleled service. The restaurant is perennially ranked at the top of Zagat Survey’s ‘Most Popular’ list, and has garnered eight James Beard Awards including ‘Outstanding Restaurant’ and ‘Best Chef: NYC’. Chef Michael Anthony’s highly seasonal menu consists of elegant dishes with a rustic influence that showcase the restaurant’s relationships with local farms and purveyors. The Main Dining Room serves prix-fixe menus starting at $92 for dinner and an a la carte menu for lunch, and accepts reservations 28 days in advance. The more casual Tavern serves an a la carte menu centered around the wood burning grill, and welcomes guests on a walk-in basis. The restaurant also features an acclaimed wine list, and thoughtfully selected beer and cocktail offerings.

Staying in Flatiron District

Neighborhood Profile
Flatiron District
Offering many of the city’s best restaurants and shops set amid classic New York architecture, the Flatiron District is no longer under the tourist radar. At 23rd Street is the famous triangular Flatiron Building, which makes a good picture no matter what angle you photograph it from. Be sure to look up at the elegant architecture as you stroll the streets - much of this neighborhood is part of a historic district that was home to many of the city’s most famous department stores at the turn of the century. At the northern end of the neighborhood, Madison Square Park is best known for being home to a famous burger shack, but it can also be a quiet refuge to spend an afternoon, and it frequently hosts interesting public art exhibits. In the lower part of the Flatiron District you'll find Union Square, a bustling crossroads at all times of day and night.
