We had a large party (8 People) so we made reservations well in advance as we heard this was a great restaurant. The venue is very nice with a tavern atmosphere upfront by the street and a more fancy table experience in the back. The menu was very interesting and needed to be explained by our server (who was excellent).... More

Amazing restaurant, the service and staff where impeccable and I can't fault them. I can't say it was the best experience I've had, however it was good. Very expensive wine list you'd think the sommelier at this establishment should develop better taste in wine. Food was good though and the menu was interesting enough. I wouldn't do the set menu... My daughter and I called for reservations for 4:00 P.M. The dining room does not open before 5:30, so we were advised that we would not need reservations as we would be seated in the tavern instead. The tavern menu was rather limited, so we opted for just appetizers and drinks. We each had one drink, which was mostly crushed... More

Came here on our last night in NYC after reading all the reviews to celebrate our anniversary. Great service. Great wine recommendation. And the Pork Bolognese was Amazing! So the cookies and milk. And the Pedro Jiménez 1986..... Wow! Will definitely come back for the tasting menu.

Ate at the "Tavern". Got there just at opening time for lunch during the week. There was a small crowd waiting but plenty of room. I had a roasted and raw vegetable platter to start with assorted dipping sauces. It was superbly fresh and the vegetables tasted just picked. I followed it up with a sea bass which also featured... The food was to die for, the service second to none and the atmosphere was just perfect for our dinner. We were looking forward to eating there and the restaurant exceeded our expectations. This is the... More

My wife and I have been lucky enough to have dined at many fine restaurants, but none have treated us better than the Gramercy Tavern. The food was over-the-top exceptional, augmented by a staff that was simply perfect: friendly, informative and efficient. Taste, presentation and service were impeccable. A treasure!

My family and I had an excellent meal at the Gramercy Tavern. We chose the 3 course meal which had a wide range of choices, the desserts were really excellent. The restaurant had a great atmosphere and the staff were excellent.

One of America’s most beloved restaurants, Gramercy Tavern has welcomed guests for close to two decades to enjoy seasonal American cuisine, warm hospitality and unparalleled service. The restaurant is perennially ranked at the top of Zagat Survey’s ‘Most Popular’ list, and has garnered eight James Beard Awards including ‘Outstanding Restaurant’ and ‘Best Chef: NYC’. Chef Michael Anthony’s highly seasonal menu consists of elegant dishes with a rustic influence that showcase the restaurant’s relationships with local farms and purveyors. The Main Dining Room serves prix-fixe menus starting at $92 for dinner and an a la carte menu for lunch, and accepts reservations 28 days in advance. The more casual Tavern serves an a la carte menu centered around the wood burning grill, and welcomes guests on a walk-in basis. The restaurant also features an acclaimed wine list, and thoughtfully selected beer and cocktail offerings.

Staying in Flatiron District

Neighborhood Profile
Flatiron District
Offering many of the city’s best restaurants and shops set amid classic New York architecture, the Flatiron District is no longer under the tourist radar. At 23rd Street is the famous triangular Flatiron Building, which makes a good picture no matter what angle you photograph it from. Be sure to look up at the elegant architecture as you stroll the streets - much of this neighborhood is part of a historic district that was home to many of the city’s most famous department stores at the turn of the century. At the northern end of the neighborhood, Madison Square Park is best known for being home to a famous burger shack, but it can also be a quiet refuge to spend an afternoon, and it frequently hosts interesting public art exhibits. In the lower part of the Flatiron District you'll find Union Square, a bustling crossroads at all times of day and night.
