So much has been said and written about this great New York restaurant, that it is hard to write anything except that it lives up to its billing as one of the really best places to eat....anywhere. The service was impeccable and our waiter extremely knowledgeable and helpful. We had the full Tasting Menu, which was fabulous in every respect.... More

I've been there a number of times over 20 years and it never disappoints. Such a classic New York City place with all the touches done the right way.

The Gramercy Tavern is classy in style and food. We had mid-afternoon lunch in the dining room...which is just an extension of the 'tavern' area and which takes reservations (the Tavern itself is first come/first serve and with a slightly different menu). The attention to detail was great...the wait staff and servers left you alone but were always available. Food... More

We had dinner here and all of us had the prixe fixe seasonal tasting dinner. It was a very delicious dinner of about five course and a play on contrasting textures. All in all a very relaxing dinner with great food and a nice way to start our food adventure in New York

We loved the Gramercy Tavern. The suggested wine was superb and the main meals were delicious. The service was great and the place had a wonderful cheerful buzz. One of my favorite places in Manhattan

We celebrated 2 family birthdays at Gramercy Tavern. It was a special night and this was the perfect venue. While the wine list is extensive, we found an excellent but not too expensive Tuscan to wash back our meal. The superstar dishes included the kale and Brussel sprouts salad, the snow crab appetizer, the lamb, the pork loin and deckle,... More

The meal was perfection, but the service made the evening unsurpassed. I look forward to my next visit to NYC to revisit this restaurant!

An excellent dinner, we opted for the seasonal tasting menu. The seafood was as fresh as it gets and the duck didn't disappoint. Many times a dessert plays the second violin, even in fine dining restaurants, but not this time. Wine pairings were thought trough and service was attentive. It isn't the most silent restaurant, if peace and quiet are... More

I was in NYC on business and had a colleague recommend that the Gramercy Tavern was worth the walk to try. It was about 6:30pm on a Tuesday and expected to be seated at the bar or have a long wait, but was seated at a table after only a 15min wait, and yes the place was packed! I had... More

Description
One of America’s most beloved restaurants, Gramercy Tavern has welcomed guests for close to two decades to enjoy seasonal American cuisine, warm hospitality and unparalleled service. The restaurant is perennially ranked at the top of Zagat Survey’s ‘Most Popular’ list, and has garnered eight James Beard Awards including ‘Outstanding Restaurant’ and ‘Best Chef: NYC’. Chef Michael Anthony’s highly seasonal menu consists of elegant dishes with a rustic influence that showcase the restaurant’s relationships with local farms and purveyors. The Main Dining Room serves prix-fixe menus starting at $92 for dinner and an a la carte menu for lunch, and accepts reservations 28 days in advance. The more casual Tavern serves an a la carte menu centered around the wood burning grill, and welcomes guests on a walk-in basis. The restaurant also features an acclaimed wine list, and thoughtfully selected beer and cocktail offerings.

Staying in Flatiron District

Neighborhood Profile
Flatiron District
Offering many of the city’s best restaurants and shops set amid classic New York architecture, the Flatiron District is no longer under the tourist radar. At 23rd Street is the famous triangular Flatiron Building, which makes a good picture no matter what angle you photograph it from. Be sure to look up at the elegant architecture as you stroll the streets - much of this neighborhood is part of a historic district that was home to many of the city’s most famous department stores at the turn of the century. At the northern end of the neighborhood, Madison Square Park is best known for being home to a famous burger shack, but it can also be a quiet refuge to spend an afternoon, and it frequently hosts interesting public art exhibits. In the lower part of the Flatiron District you'll find Union Square, a bustling crossroads at all times of day and night.
