Recommended by a local, Veniero's was a late night stop to satisfy some sweet cravings. One of the oldest patisseries in NYC. Ordered the Italian cheesecake which was divine and not too sweet. Decent coffee too. Worth a visit.

We love to visit NY desert shops at night. This place is a classic. Love the selections and the different liqueur coffee's.

To say I travel to New York to visit this pastry place is an understatement. From speedy service to an endless selection, you will find something to take home. My favorites are the cannoli, non-chocolate, and something called a 'lobster tail' which is filled with a ricotta based filling. Make no mistake, they fill their pastries with honest to goodness... We've visited Veniero's many times over the years, but I've just forgotten to review it... until now! If you are in Lower Manhattan and want to feed your sweet tooth, get over to 11th Street just off First Avenue. Parking is tough, so you will have to cruise around to find spot. After our first visit, however, I now double... More

This shop has been in the same location since the late1800s and is well worth a visit. When you enter you will be amazed at the selection of cakes, cookies and other treats available. If you wish to eat in, walk to the back and they will show you to a table where you can enjoy over 60 treats and... More

Yes, a REAL Italian bakery! You may not know how hard that is to find these days. As soon as I walked in the door I knew this was the place. Everything was delicious. Everything was made the way it's supposed to be made. You. Must. Go.

Staying in East Village

Neighborhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighborhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighborhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
