This place has been there for a very long time and in that long time they forgot how to make good Italian pastries. Su day breakfast - their Cannoli are stale, their Baba Rum is poorly baked, Sfogliatella was OK. Can't suck them for service or coffee, but I will not go back for pastries there. When Morton Williams pastries... More

Great late night dessert. Mini cheesecake was fantastic. The array of choices is phenomenal, have both take out and sitting areas available. Great choice of coffee and cold drinks

Really good cheesecake, maybe a bit too heavy compared to English cheesecakes! Really good tiramisu, great for sitting in and reading a book, or planning the rest of your day in NYC.

it took me several weeks before I finally went to this place since a colleague brought in two boxes of pastries one Sunday at work . I was impressed at how the pastries were presented and top it off with good taste too, not too sweet and not too bland either, it's just right. No wonder this family business has... More

A stop in this East Village pastry shop will surely delight the eye and pallet. The glass pastry show cases overflow with rich Italian sweets and cakes. Around the wall is a room with tables to enjoy sweets and coffee. Worth extra effort in seeking out this off the tourist track sweet shop!

Very "Little Italy" vibe, even in the EV location. Staff is always super-friendly and helpful, and are very tolerant of terrible American mispronunciations. I cannot emphasize enough how good the desserts are, they may be the best in New York.

Venieros is simply the past. The food - gelato ( especially the lemon) , and the deserts are outstanding. This establishment is an institution in New York City- and there is no place that rivals it. Their products are made with the finest products by master bakers. I have been going to this incredible " pasticceria and caffe" since 1960.... More

Staying in East Village

Neighborhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighborhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighborhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
