Visually, this place is a treat. It's an old-fashioned place that you can imagine with Keystone Cops and people wandering around in the old days. The domed pastry cases are fantastic as you see what is available and decide what to order to go, or what to order before you sit down (either is a good choice). Yes, the cannoli... More

We come here every time we are in NYC to buy Italian cookies to take home. Our favorites are the pignoli and the Regina sesame seed cookies. We have also sampled the cannoli and other pastries and enjoyed everything we tried.

This has always been my goto place for cannolis but when I went today I found out that they pre fill them. This results in a soggy shell that is totally unacceptable. Additionally the air conditioning was not operating in the cafe on a day when the temperature was over 94, not a very good thing to happen and fans... More

The location reminds of the typical bar in Venice, you don't feel in NYC...the sweets are delicious but really big: I suggest you (as not American) to share with another person!!

Minus two stars for bad table service. There are two Venieros-the bustling counter with amazing pastries and cakes and other side of the business with really bad table service. My husband and I made our last attempt (after three this summer), to sit down and relax with my husband's favorite Italian cheesecake in the cafe. You are barely greeted by... More

Been frequenting this spot for about 30 years only a couple times a year now as an adult as I can drop a hundred dollars with out leaving the Pignoli's... Table service has always been solid but I usually just swing in and grab some delicacies and go home to hoard them all! Canoli's are solid here easily one of... More

I've been a regular since HS in the 70's. Everything is always fresh. Ricotta cheese cake is my personal favorite. My wife loves the almond torte cake. Wide range of full size and miniature size pastry, ice creams and ices available. They have been making cappuccino & espresso longer and better than any national coffee seller. A must visit for... Made two visits recently to Veniero's. Brought out of town visitors one time and they were amazed! So much to choose from and everything is delicious: pastries, cookies, cakes, gelatin. The best Italian ricotta cheesecake in the city! The cannolis are great too. Portions are very large. They are always open (8 a.m. to midnight).

There are lots of desserts to choose from at Veniero's. Cannoli, cake slices, mousse, cheesecake and more fill the pastry counter. Have fun browsing and enjoy your selection from a table in the restaurant. But, you can only enjoy your pastry in the restaurant if you order from a waiter. The cannoli was tasty but a little too much cinnamon... More

Staying in East Village

Neighborhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighborhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighborhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
