I arranged a meeting with clients here after discovering one was vegan. Let's just say that Candle 79 couldn't be more perfect. It's low key but sophisticated interior the considerate staff Coupled with stunning food that didn't need any meaty extras. As a fully signed up meat eater I'm always a bit put off by vegan restaurants but my attitude... More

Went there for late lunch. We shared the kale salad and satay for appetizers , both were outstanding ! For mains we had the crepe, piccata and risotto and all argued that theirs were the best dish. If i were by myself I'd order the piccata and risotto and take leftovers , could not chose. This restaurant is a must... More

The food at Candle 79 is delicious, imaginative, and complex in flavors and variety. We had reservations(advisable) and came early as we were going to a show afterwards. The wait staff are knowledgeable and made excellent recommendations. We ordered a large variety of dishes and shared many of them which was great fun. The vegan menu would please almost everyone.... Took my wife to this great establishment while visiting NYC. I'm not a Vegan but she is. I was very impressed with the dish that I had which tasted like meat but wasn;t. I thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere and prices were good by NY standards.

We indulged in jalapeño poppers , avocado salads and meatballs ( you... More

Hands down the best restaurant I have ever been to! We were celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary and found this restaurant as we shopped throughout the day, so went in for lunch. It was so fabulous we then booked for dinner! The meals are second to none and every dish sounded like perfection! It was fabulous to go to a... More

Candle 79 was highly recommended by a friend that is vegetarian and I can see why. The food is amazing! The menu has fresh, often local ingredients that change seasonally. The flatbread appetizer and the kale salads were standouts as was the Chickpea Cake (delicious Moroccan flavors). Service was great and the prices reasonable especially for NYC. We will definitely... We celebrated our 10 year anniversary. We made our reservation and received confirmation via email. The food was exquisite and refined. Everything tastes good. There were lots of different option in the menu and the service was excellent. I specially liked the sangria and the desserts. The place is small but intimate. In all, an excellent experience.

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighborhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighborhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighborhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
