We were lucky to get in on a Tuesday without a reservation. The earlier try on Saturday did not work out. The food is excellent. I had the live zucchini blossom which was just wonderful: the presentation, the taste, the texture. Personnel is friendly and explains whatever it is you do not know, or may not know. I, for instance,... More

I had been wanting to try Candle 79 for years when traveling to NYC and was finally able to try it during a recent trip with one of my girlfriends who is also mostly vegan. We were running about 15-30 minutes late for our reservation and they were so accommodating to our tardiness. Between the 2 of us we ordered... More

Best lunch option when you will visit the Guggenheim Museum. Just be on time since it is not open all afternoon and we were the last to be served Lunch. Outstanding flavors and the service a bit stiff for such a environmental friendly food option. Still very recommendable.

We visited with 6 women, non of us vegetarian or vegan. There was lovely presentation, tasty dishes, and a very nice atmosphere. The meals even convinced our mothers (who are meat and potatoes lovers) that they could "eat vegan" if someone prepared their meals everyday. Our server answered our questions and helped guide us through the menu. Expensive, but a... More

Okay, so if you've even walked by the place, or seen the food, you know it's expensive. It's a great atmosphere, always busy, always happy. The service was good, not the best I've had, but good. Our server was very kind and patient. There were 4 of us, 2 vegans and 2 non, and he helped us find the best... More

This is definitely an interesting restaurant to try if you are in the area . This is a 100 % vegetarian restaurant and they are offering tasty dishes and original recipes . Most of the ingredients are organic. The staff is friendly and the prices reasonable .

I am a vegetarian and was excited to dine at a restaurant with a menu I could really eat from....however, I was worried because the typical "vegan" food doesn't always taste great. I was pleasantly surprised with the taste of the food. Also, the drinks were amazing. Service was great. Tip: Ask for a booth by the windows upstairs...nice view.

We stopped here for lunch since it was a Vegan option highly rated in the area... CLOSED for renovations until late sept. Call before showing up to make sure it has reopened.

Just dined here with my more significant half after a visit to the Metropolitan. So happy we found it. Only a short walk from the museum, situated in a (NY) calm environment. True paradise for those of us who normally order by simply deducting from the menu things we DON'T eat. Here I can eat EVERY dish. And eat very... More

I put this on my list of places to try during a recent trip to NYC. I'm glad I did. The dishes are creative and very tasty. The service is excellent. My family meat eaters found these vegan dishes very satisfying. It's hard to recommend any one dish because it was all very good.

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighborhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighborhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighborhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
