We meet friends every year in mid-December in Manhattan and always dine at Cafe Boulud our first night in the city. The fresh, creative and well prepared dishes are enhanced by the knowledgable, friendly and well trained staff. One of the best in the city.

We had the Salmon dish, which was acceptable although there was a spine in it. The squash soup was good, very nicely presented. Breads were clearly not freshly baked and frankly quite tasteless, the olive bread was unsalted and the pumpkin just lacked flavor altogether. The gnocchi were small, and flavorless. The comté ravioli were actually very tasty! For dessert,... More

Being from Nashville, which is becoming a bit of a foodie city, we were really looking forward to our "date night" here and we were not disappointed in any way. The ambience is understated for a high end place - very tasteful, well designed, not overly crowded, not hectic but with impeccable service that was not disruptive to our conversation...and... More

If you eat meat, you MUST order the seared Fois Gras! Unbelievable! Everything we ordered was excellent, flavorful and fresh. Loved it all. The service was very professional, if somewhat cold. They took away one of my companion's coffee cup before she finished, and we thought perhaps it was to hurry us along. We weren't too thrilled with that. The... More

My wife and I went for massages at the Surrey hotel and we stumbled upon Cafe Boulud. It was the best meal I've had in NYC in years. While expensive, pasta with black truffles, Dover sole, Branzino all amazing. Service was perfect and literally joy filled. Being a lifetime New Yorker i always have my list of "go to's" on... More

We had a nice lunch here with friends and had a good experience. We had 2 courses from their set menu that was good value, the beef tartar was excellent but the raviolis with squash were a disappointment. Our friends soup then bass looked very good but given the standard you'd normally get at Daniel Boulouds other outlets it should... More

I do not wish to boast about where I've been and eaten over my many years of business and pleasure travel, but would do so if I had to in order to underscore my appreciation of the meal my wife and I had at Cafe Boulud. You wander from restaurant door to hotel door all over looking for something that... More

This was our first visit and the restaurant did not disappoint. The menu was inspirational. The duck was just exquisite - best duck I have ever tasted. To be honest all dishes looked wonderful and the desserts were very nice. Service was attentive and friendly. They brought out one wrong main course but with swiftness and no fuss the correct... Description
CAFÉ BOULUD features a French-American menu inspired by Chef Daniel Boulud's four culinary muses: la tradition, classic French cuisine; la saison, seasonal delicacies; le potager, the vegetable garden; and le voyage, the flavors of world cuisines. In addition to dinner seven nights, we feature a $37 two-course prix-fixe lunch six days a week, and brunch on Sundays. The restaurant is both a neighborhood gem and a destination for food lovers in search of casually elegant dining. Two private dining rooms seating 18 guest each are available for your private entertaining needs, and may be combined to accommodate 40. The restaurant's adjacent BAR PLEIADES serves inventive cocktails and a luxurious bar menu from 3 pm onwards. DANIEL • DB Bistro Moderne •Boulud Sud• Bar Boulud • DBGB Kitchen & Bar

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighborhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighborhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighborhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
