Although the server was very cooperative in trying to make everything right, the meal overall was not as good as it should have been for what we paid. Food was too salty, surprising for a good chef. Over salting the food I think shows a lack of confidence on the chef's part. The server offered to make something not on... More

We have eaten here half a dozen times, including a very interesting winetasting with three warning makers from the Rhône Valley. To give you one example of the complexity of the food, I enjoyed this very much tonight: Sea Trout Crudo: cucumber, mint, sumac yogurt, smoked steelhead roe, flax seed tuile -- delicate, beautiful on the plate, full of flavor.... Went there with family who live nearby. Waiter recommended the Bendeja Paisa which turned out to be a strange collection of items with a somewhat South American vibe - including refried beans - it was so out of sync with everything else served that night. It was a horrible meal.

Say no more...the hardest thing to do here that I found was to chose my dinner. After so many recommendations, I settled on the chilled corn soup. Duck. Chocolate melting cake. SUPERB.

My fiancé and I went here for a brunch this Sunday. It was out of this world! The service was top notch and the ambiance was nice and light. The paintings around the dinning room were very nice to look at. Our food was amazing. The eggs Benedict and French toast was delicious . The poached eggs on the egg... More

After having a magical, innovative dinner at Daniel, me and my partner decided to try Cafe Boulud for dinner. I expected a similar experience at the cafe. The restaurant itself is extremely noisy despite the calm decor. Don't use the parking garage on that street, it's $75. And for that price combined with dinner, you might as well eat at... More

We had popped in to Café Boulud several times while walking the UES but found the beige interior blank and unappealing, and after dining at Daniel was doubtful this simpler output could be as grand. But how wrong! First surprise was that a restaurant adjoining, and servicing, a hotel could be this great! We booked a room at The Surrey... More

During a week long stay in New York City, we decided to visit Cafe Boulud on the upper East side and loved it. The prix fixe menu is excellent, and I added a wonderful grilled Spanish Octopus to share. The service is wonderful and attentive, just what you would expect from Daniel Boulud and the food was superb. I had... More

My husband and I had dinner at Cafe Boulud w my sister and her husband while visiting NYC. None of us had tried any of Daniel's restaurants before so we didn't know exactly what to expect. It was amazing. Three of us had the three course summer set menu. From the time we sat down until we left the service... More

CAFÉ BOULUD features a French-American menu inspired by Chef Daniel Boulud's four culinary muses: la tradition, classic French cuisine; la saison, seasonal delicacies; le potager, the vegetable garden; and le voyage, the flavors of world cuisines. In addition to dinner seven nights, we feature a $37 two-course prix-fixe lunch six days a week, and brunch on Sundays. The restaurant is both a neighborhood gem and a destination for food lovers in search of casually elegant dining. Two private dining rooms seating 18 guest each are available for your private entertaining needs, and may be combined to accommodate 40. The restaurant's adjacent BAR PLEIADES serves inventive cocktails and a luxurious bar menu from 3 pm onwards. DANIEL • DB Bistro Moderne •Boulud Sud• Bar Boulud • DBGB Kitchen & Bar

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighborhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighborhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighborhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
