I enjoyed the prix fixe lunch at the Cafe Boulud very much. The atmosphere is understatedly elegant, the tables and chairs are well spaced and comfortable, and the clientele seems to be largely local, rather than dominated by tourists. The service was smooth and professional, and as to be expected, the cuisine was delicious. I especially enjoyed the coffee, as... More

My spouse and I dined at Café Boulud for lunch on a weekday afternoon in early August 2016. Operating as a hotel restaurant, Café Boulud is open daily for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. You can make a reservation at Café Boulud using the Open Table system or via telephone. Café Boulud is located on the Upper East Side in the... More

It was fun learning you completed your quest to visit all of Chef Daniel Boulud’s Manhattan Restaurants here at Café Boulud! We are pleased to know how much you enjoyed our delicious halibut, risotto and warm madeleines, but are disappointed your appetizer was not to your expectations, and for the confusion over dessert. In the future, if there is anything... More

This was singularly the best breakfast I have ever had. Walking in Central Park, I looked up a restaurant for brunch on the iPhone, found Cafe Boulud on the Upper east Side, phoned for a reservation and voila! Think I just got very very lucky, so if you are after Sunday brunch...book. Ask for a table on the banquette even... More

Amazing meal with my sister and her husband who live in New York. The chilled pea soup was to die for and the fillet steak was delicious. We had a lovely evening and the staff were very friendly.

2 (42usd) or 3 (49usd) meals menu with breakfast and lunch dishes. We've had fruits, salad, leek soup vichyssoise, corn risotto, herbs ravioli, omelet. Those were good but the chicken and the molten cakes were excellent. Good service, not to the level of a Michelin star though.

We ate outside for lunch, selecting the prix fixe lunch. Each course was elegantly presented and tasted delicious. I had the hanger steak as my main and my husband had the lamb pappardelle. I am giving this restaurant only 4 starts for a couple of reasons. The service was extremely slow - even by French dining standards. I don't like... More

Your kind words for our cuisine and ambiance are greatly appreciated and we thank you for your positive review. However, it is disappointing to learn of your long wait for your meal, as our intention is to serve you in a reasonable amount of time; and we are sorry the lamb pappardelle did not meet your expectations. On future visits,... More

We were in town for the US Open and here's our story. We made a reservation at Cafe Boulud because it was near our hotel only to find out it was basically the hotel's restaurant. Normally that would turn us off, but this was an exception. The service was impeccable and the food was much more than what we expected... More

We have frequented this neighborhood restaurant several times over the years - and we have been quite disappointed the last couple times we had dinner at Cafe Boulud. Their menu is quite innovative - BUT we all felt that the quality of the food unfortunately has gone down. The prices remain high - and for what they charge - and... More

While saying at the Surrey Hotel we had 2 breakfasts downstairs at the Cafe. Service was prompt and courteous and the food was excellent. Loved the fresh squeezed grapefruit juice and the eggs were delicious. One morning a french omelet and the next the creamiest scrambled eggs ever. Husband had the pancakes which were also delish. Wonderful way to start... More

(The Bitter End refers to the fact that many good restaurants have surprisingly bad coffee. To address this, we are rating the coffee first in our reviews.) Cappuccino- Surprisingly good. The coffee was strong enough to cut through the milk, which was adequately foamed. 3 out of 4. Espresso- Good crema, mild but flavorful. 3 out of 4. I have... More

Description
CAFÉ BOULUD features a French-American menu inspired by Chef Daniel Boulud's four culinary muses: la tradition, classic French cuisine; la saison, seasonal delicacies; le potager, the vegetable garden; and le voyage, the flavors of world cuisines. In addition to dinner seven nights, we feature a $37 two-course prix-fixe lunch six days a week, and brunch on Sundays. The restaurant is both a neighborhood gem and a destination for food lovers in search of casually elegant dining. Two private dining rooms seating 18 guest each are available for your private entertaining needs, and may be combined to accommodate 40. The restaurant's adjacent BAR PLEIADES serves inventive cocktails and a luxurious bar menu from 3 pm onwards. DANIEL • DB Bistro Moderne •Boulud Sud• Bar Boulud • DBGB Kitchen & Bar

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighborhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighborhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighborhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
