We had high expectations about our lunch at Cafe Boulud for their set lunch. The tables are very close together with Banquette seating and we were drawn into conversation with the couple next to us who were celebrating their fourth wedding anniversary. As this was the Upper East Side the husband's present was from Van Cleef and Arpels. This excitement... More

We had an absolutely beautiful meal in a lovely setting with perfect service. The Wagyu beef was delicious.

The food is truly exceptional, and as an added advantage, you're highly likely to see someone famous there.

This is our "go to" before the opera. Very good food well served. Reservations are necessary but without one there is often room at a counter. The selection of chartuery

The favorite intimate high end restaurant for many New Yorkers, the restaurant offers consistently remarkable foods with strong seasonal emphasis in low key elegance. Breads are amazing, wine list pricy but excellent especially for Burgundies.

Had breakfast recently at Cafe Boulud. Sadly mediocre. Service was shaky and not up to Daniel's standard and remarkedly slow. Even more surprising was the disappointing food quality. Scrambled eggs not upto the French standard, substandard sausages, greasy bacon and overly garlic seasoning on potatoes. OJ was good. Hope Daniel Boulud has not spread himself too thin!

With a Michelin star and Colombian-born executive sous chef whose Burger King-to-Institut Paul Bocuse tale will surely be made into a movie, the bar was set very high for this meal. Oh, and it's part of a hotel off Central Park that JFK and Bette Davis had stayed in. Unfortunately the crab salad, chocolate molten cake, exotic sorbets, and even... More

Had break last here as part of the Surrey Hotel. The food was distinctly average as was the service. The scrambled egg turned up in a bowl with smoked salmon separate as opposed to mixed as requested. It's fine but one expects a bit more being joined to an excellent hotel.

I had a diner in this restaurant during my business visit to NY. I opted for the tomato salad and the strip lion which both were delicious . Good bread selection and excellent service and molten chocolate.

CAFÉ BOULUD features a French-American menu inspired by Chef Daniel Boulud's four culinary muses: la tradition, classic French cuisine; la saison, seasonal delicacies; le potager, the vegetable garden; and le voyage, the flavors of world cuisines. In addition to dinner seven nights, we feature a $37 two-course prix-fixe lunch six days a week, and brunch on Sundays. The restaurant is both a neighborhood gem and a destination for food lovers in search of casually elegant dining. Two private dining rooms seating 18 guest each are available for your private entertaining needs, and may be combined to accommodate 40. The restaurant's adjacent BAR PLEIADES serves inventive cocktails and a luxurious bar menu from 3 pm onwards. DANIEL • DB Bistro Moderne •Boulud Sud• Bar Boulud • DBGB Kitchen & Bar

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighborhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighborhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighborhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
