(The Bitter End refers to the fact that many good restaurants have surprisingly bad coffee. To address this, we are rating the coffee first in our reviews.) Cappuccino- Surprisingly good. The coffee was strong enough to cut through the milk, which was adequately foamed. 3 out of 4. Espresso- Good crema, mild but flavorful. 3 out of 4. I have... More

Any restaurant that Daniel Boulud owns happens to be great. So Cafe Boulud is no exception. Food was amazing, and they even went out of their way to make some gluten free appetizers and made sure that my food was completely gluten free.

Its a limited menu, we chose the 3 course menu. It was definitely the best tuna tartare both of us had ever had. Disappointing chicken on bone, and dry. The Durade was flavorful. We sat outside because the weather was lovely. We let them know we only had one hour for lunch. Since it's pretty much a limited (almost set)... More

I come to Cafe Boulud every time I'm in New York. And every time I come, I am amazed. Meticulous pairings create sophisticated flavours that tease and tantalize.

Great dining on the Upper East Side at Cafe Boulud. This is a very comfortable but elegant dining experience with excellent service and great food. It may not be in my top 5 NYC restaurants but it is very close. I like the friendly but elegant atmosphere. But I really also go for the food and nice wine list. Expensive,... More

We happened to be here during restaurant week and ordered the restaurant week menu. I must say that in my experience, many restaurants create substandard menus for restaurant week, but not here. The food was beautifully presented and delicious. The only thing I didn't love was the bread. It was only ok to my taste, and we had to wait forever... More

The restaurant service has gone down terribly the waiting staff is so bad not what you would expect from a 5 star michelin hotel restaurant . The waiting don't care . I asked specifically for room temperature water .twice they brought cold water . 3rd time I asked in Spanish and explained Then instead of room temperature he simply went... More

We never want our guests to feel unhappy with us, and we are sorry your satisfaction could not be reached in your initial visit here, nor in your follow-up visit the next day. We respect your opinion, but as we discussed in person, we feel it is unfair and not a complete picture of events in this particular instance. Respectfully,... More

My friend and I came here during restaurant week and were treated very poorly by staff. We booked via the restaurant week open table service, but there must've been a mistake on someone's end because Cafe Boulud didn't offer a dinner menu for restaurant week. When I asked to see the restaurant week menu and was told it wasn't available,... More

We took two friends, a chef from Toronto and a winemaker from Poland, to this restaurant last week. Service was as usual impeccable; the sommelier matched our dishes with two Burgundy wines that worked together beautifully; and we all had a marvelous time. This is definitely our go to restaurant when we would like to make a positive impression. As... More

The service is unpleasant as the waiters don't mind to interrupt you whenever they want to ask something . The dishes were disappointing , nothing special just basic cafe food nicely presented, that's all. The coffee machine was broken so they could not make any expresso coffees . Will not try to again !

Description
CAFÉ BOULUD features a French-American menu inspired by Chef Daniel Boulud's four culinary muses: la tradition, classic French cuisine; la saison, seasonal delicacies; le potager, the vegetable garden; and le voyage, the flavors of world cuisines. In addition to dinner seven nights, we feature a $37 two-course prix-fixe lunch six days a week, and brunch on Sundays. The restaurant is both a neighborhood gem and a destination for food lovers in search of casually elegant dining. Two private dining rooms seating 18 guest each are available for your private entertaining needs, and may be combined to accommodate 40. The restaurant's adjacent BAR PLEIADES serves inventive cocktails and a luxurious bar menu from 3 pm onwards. DANIEL • DB Bistro Moderne •Boulud Sud• Bar Boulud • DBGB Kitchen & Bar

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighborhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighborhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighborhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
