This is an Upper East Side Persian restaurant with a royal blue awning on Second Avenue between 73rd and 74th Streets. We met some friends here for a summer evening's dinner. Things started off as a terrific experience. Waiters were dressed in checked shirts with vests and the atmosphere is clean and somewhat nondescript/modernish feel. There are exposed brick walls,... Flavorful apps - contrast of textures and flavors and temperatures. Beef entree also well spiced and nicely cooked. Plentiful vegetarian entree. Specialty cocktails very interesting and refreshing on a very hot day.

We returned to this restaurant after about 6 years expecting a great Persian meal. However, we were quite disappointed. We normally order different dishes to try various items off the menu. As a Persian restaurant it is nice to get a plate of herbs, onion and feta with bread, but you had to order it here. The appetizer of born... More

We booked this at the last minute but we were lucky enough to get a table. Neither of us had tried Persian food before and we were surprised to run into Greek foods on the menu (like the baklava dessert). Anyhow, everything was excellent, given my sweet-tooth I recommend the rice with cherry as a side dish and the lamb... More

Nothing special. Slowish service, average dishes, average prices. Overall not impressed. I have had better middle eastern food

Althougj my faborite iranian is still Persepolis in Muscat, Oman, rhe food, ambiance and setting od Persepolis NY is good. We stuffed ourselves with hummis, falafel, cucumber and yougurt, and sultani with safron rice. It was truly good. We did lunch on a Monday, so we pretty much had the place to ourselves, but we hear they are always busy... More

If you are in the mood for persian food this is a great stop. Everything, apps included are very good. The yogurts, bread, rice-delish. The ambiance is also perfect. If you like beef the koobideh kebab is to die for. Always stop here when I'm in NYC.

I was in NYC for 40 hours and my friends picked me up at my Times Square hotel to dine here. Very happy with their selection! Not only was it great to get away from the hub hub of Times Square (which made it easier to grab an Uber to the airport) but what a wonderful restaurant. I should share... More

My friend and I had lunch at this excellent restaurant in January 2016. The food was fresh, very well cooked and the presentation of the food was great. The service was excellent. The place is very nice and maintained high level of excellence. I would definitely go back again.

Four of us went for dinner at this neighborhood gem. We told the maître d' that we wanted plenty of time to talk so wanted an out-of-the-table. He put us at a table in the front window, around the corner from the vestibule. Despite it's location, it wasn't cold or drafty nor did we have any problems with service. The... More

Persepolis Is a Persian/ Mediterranean restaurant with a dynamic atmosphere and 20 years of experience! We are located in the Upper East Side on 2nd Avenue & 73rd Street. Our chef San Sethachutkul’s goal is to serve the finest Persian Feast and the best ingredients available from local markets & Persian imports. We prepare a simple yet creative menu that highlights those ingredients. The restaurant is famous for verity of kebabs and refreshing salads and gently spiced grilled meats. The yogurt and cucumber blended with a little mint is made exceedingly well and is an ideal cool compliment to Persepolis’ rounds of Pita & Barbari bread. Our kebabs which include moist and delicious salmon or saffron chicken are served without heavy sauces. Instead they are served with a choice of four rices including an intriguing blend of Basmati rice and marinated sour cherries. Our personalized wine list truly compliments our cuisine. We also offer a full classic bar.
We look forward to seeing you!

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighborhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighborhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighborhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
